EXAGGERATION!

I had a few patrons reach out to me asking to talk about Exaggeration again. I will make this a dedicated tutorial in the future but until then, I thought I would revisit the topic of pushing your poses and ways to find exaggeration in this month's realtime gesture drawing video.

I'm using a new website for the first time. Dynamic Muse. I've been watching them for a while and this year they updated their website and now have a 3 tier membership that allows different access to their galleries.

So far, I like the presentation and poses included in the Emerald Tier. Very professional, very clean and minimalist, which is right up my alley!

Check them out if you're looking for more model reference.

Gillian Gestures - Realtime Gesture Video

I’ve checked them out before. They are on the pricey side but the poses are fantastic. Also I wish they provided nude reference because sometimes I will start with a gesture and take it all the way with a full drawing, but clothed drawings never turn out as well. However I just need to get better at being more creative and not relying on the reference so much. Patrick Jones is a perfect example of that, his drawings will look very little like the reference he started with. Again tho, it’s hard to justify spending $42+ when Grafit charges only 12 for about 400+ photos.

Hopefully they will keep adding to their library over the next few months so the subscription will be more worth it. Grafit is great in the mean time!
