To honor some of my sweetest childhood Halloween memories, I created a coloring page featuring three adorable little trick-or-treaters: a sweet witch raccoon, a darling mummy possum, and one very spooky ghost fox!
When I was little, my sisters would take me around our neighborhood on Halloween night, and oh, what an adventure it was! I still remember the crisp autumn air, the smell of burning wood drifting through the neighborhood, and the pure excitement of seeing all my friends dressed as ghosts, zombies, werewolves, and every other spooky creature imaginable.
Halloween just seemed a little more magical back then. Things moved slower, and it felt like everyone joined in the fun. There were rows of glowing jack-o'-lanterns on porches, bat cutouts hanging in windows, and witches riding broomsticks dangling from tree branches. Every house seemed to have its own little bit of spooky charm!
And then there were the treats. Oh my goodness, the treats! Back then, homemade goodies were still part of the Halloween adventure. I remember Mrs. Sutterfield's sticky-sweet popcorn balls, tiny pieces of Mrs. Reid's fudge carefully wrapped in cellophane, and the little boxes of raisins the Johnsons tucked into our trick-or-treat bags every single year.
Of course, we'd race home with our bags overflowing, absolutely giddy with excitement... only for Mom to announce that she had to inspect every single piece of candy first. π Once she gave everything her seal of approval, we were allowed to pick three pieces to eat that night. Just three! The rest was carefully divided out, a few pieces at a time, until our Halloween treasure was gone.
Looking back, those simple Halloween nights hold such sweet memories for me. There was something magical about wandering through the neighborhood with my sisters and friends, admiring all the costumes, collecting treats, and feeling like the whole world was filled with spooky possibilities.
I tried to capture just a tiny sprinkle of that old-fashioned Halloween magic in this coloring page. I hope these three little trick-or-treaters bring back a few sweet memories for you, tooβor maybe inspire you to grab your favorite colors, settle into a cozy spot, and create a little Halloween magic of your own.
Happy Halloween, my friends! ππ¦π»π¦β¨
