Sinful Spaces 0.9 — The Road to 1.0 (Patreon)
Content
We have something important to talk about.
Sinful Spaces 0.9 was always meant to be different from the updates that came before it. This is the point where we are no longer just adding another feature, another character, or another piece of content.
We are entering the final stretch of development.
And as we have been working on the next parts of v0.9, we have reached a decision that we have actually been thinking about for a very long time.
It concerns the technology we use to create the images in Sinful Spaces.
We know this is a sensitive subject.
We have talked about it with you before. We know that some of you really like the visual identity Sinful Spaces has had throughout its development, and we remember the feedback we received when we previously explored a different visual direction.
So before we show you what is changing, we want to explain why.
Because this is not a decision we are making simply because we think a different style looks better.
It is a decision we are making because we believe it is what we need to do to finish Sinful Spaces.
What led us here?
Over the years, we have received a huge amount of feedback from you.
Some of it was about:
Progression;
The tenants;
The amount of content;
How explicit or varied the images were;
And some of it was simply:
"We want more."
More reasons to become attached to individual characters. And we have been listening to all of this.
As we started working on the final stages of Sinful Spaces, we realized something important:
A lot of the things you have been asking us for have the same underlying requirement.
More content.
More things to do with the tenants.
More opportunities to get to know them.
More situations you could find them in.
More meaningful choices.
More rewards.
Not just slightly different variations of what we have been delivering from the get-go. There was always a desire for more specific content.
Different things that can happen because you chose one path instead of another.
And this is where our old technology started becoming a serious limitation.
The technology has changed a lot
When we started developing Sinful Spaces several years ago, the technology available to us simply wasn't what it is today.
The tools available for generating images have advanced enormously since then.
And that creates a difficult question for any long-running project:
"Do we keep ourselves limited by the technology that existed when we started, or do we adapt and take advantage of what is available now?"
For a long time, we chose the first option.
Partly because we knew how important the visual identity of Sinful Spaces was to you. And partly because we believed we could continue developing the game with the tools we had.
But now that we are actually trying to build the final stages of the game, we have reached the point where those limitations are becoming impossible to ignore.
If we continue using exactly the same technology and exactly the same production process, we don't believe we can realistically create the amount and variety of content necessary to bring Sinful Spaces to the conclusion we all want.
And we don't want the limitations of a tool from several years ago to determine what the finished game can be in 2027.
Why this matters for the tenants
One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we have received over the years is that the tenants should feel more alive and, most importantly:
More erotic action!
The more we thought about that feedback, the more we realized that the solution wasn't simply to write more dialogue or add another isolated scene.
The tenant needs to have more things that can happen to her.
More opportunities for you to decide what you are interested in seeing.
And this new image generation technology finally gives us a way to do that at a scale that makes sense for the rest of the game. It also gives us much more room to explore the different ways a relationship can develop as we approach the later stages of the game.
We won't reveal every detail of that system today because there's already a lot to talk about. But this is the foundation that makes those possibilities real.
So where does the new image technology come in?
This is the part we want to be completely honest about.
All of the changes above require a lot more images.
Not only in absolute numbers.
But more images of specific characters.
In specific locations.
Performing specific activities.
At specific stages of progression.
With visual continuity between those stages.
When you multiply that by every tenant, the amount of visual content required becomes enormous.
This is exactly where the technology we used when we started developing Sinful Spaces becomes a bottleneck.
We couldn't continue doing everything exactly as we have done until now and still deliver a satisfying ending that would do our beloved game justice.
Instead, we want to use this new technology to complete the game we have been building for the last three years the way it truly deserves: with sexy, dynamic, and varied poses in an art style that can support them.
We know the visual change will be noticeable
We also don't want to pretend otherwise.
The new technology produces a different visual result that simply can't and won't be identical to the current version.
It offers more lively expressions, richer details, and more complex poses and compositions, representing a significant departure from the old, static, simpler, and smoother images.
We know some of you will prefer the old look.
We know some of you may immediately like the new one more.
And we expect there will be people somewhere in between.
We understand that.
We also remember the previous conversations we had about changing the visual style of Sinful Spaces, and we haven't forgotten the feedback you gave us then.
That is why this decision took us so long.
For a long time, we treated this as a purely artistic question:
"Is this style better or worse?"
Today, we see it differently.
The question is no longer simply which image style we prefer.
The question is:
"What allows us to actually finish the game while delivering the amount of content and variety that Sinful Spaces needs?"
And for us, the answer has become increasingly clear.
The goal is still the same: Sinful Spaces 1.0
This is ultimately what all of this comes down to.
We want to finish Sinful Spaces. Not just release another update. Not just keep adding features indefinitely.
We want to bring all of these systems together into a complete game and give our supporters the 1.0 version we have been working toward for the last three years.
And to do that, we need a production process that can support the game we are now capable of imagining.
We are asking for one thing
We know some of you may look at the first new images and think:
"I don't know if this is for me."
That's completely fair.
We aren't asking you to decide whether you love the new visuals based on a few preview images.
What we are asking is that you give us the opportunity to show you what the game feels like when all of this comes together.
We know this is a big step, and there is a risk involved.
But after years of development, we also know that staying exactly where we are simply because it feels safer isn't necessarily the right way to finish the game.
The technology has changed. Our understanding of the game has changed. We have learned from your feedback.
And now we want to use everything we have learned to build the strongest version of Sinful Spaces we can.
And we ask us to come and join us in this new stage!
Sincerely yours,
NaughtyDuo 💖
