Sonya is a strong solo laner with good waveclear and multiple viable build paths that you can go into. The two ultimates have very different use cases, but are both strong in their own way. Usually we want to build Sonya's talents to match the ultimate that we want to take in each game.

All you need to know about every build and talent for Sonya! Lots of Sonya specific tips and tricks and playstyle explanations as well! There will also be a Sonya Grandmaster VOD Analysis(in a separate post) to add even more coverage to the hero!

Can you provide some more detail on how we should pick which build to go (assuming the general use of Sonya is to bruise and double soak)? For example, if I'm on Braxis going against an Imp or Leo in the solo lane, or, if I'm on Shrines and expected to gank more but double soaking against a Xul. How do you make the call here? I'm *guessing* on Dragon Shrine and Braxis you're going Wrath build to focus on dueling.

If you want to focus more more on the 1v1 solo lane matchup, then generally wrath is better as it will have more damage in a sustained 1v1 fight. If you want to roam more and win fights and help the team leap can be better as it has more instant explosive impact in a teamfight. You can also just use specific tech matchups to your advantage, for example vs Xul there is a E talent which removes his root and makes him unable to do much to you, so that case its good to go E build which means Wrath.

How do you choose whether waveclear with W or E? Assuming healing is not needed. Is it mostly about the shape of the wave (clumped for E, lined up for W)? That seems like a plausible heuristic based on an older VOD of yours but I'm not sure.

I'd waveclear with E most of the time unless you are full W build. Even then for pure waveclear E is better but W build + w wave allows you to harass the enemy laner from range while slowly clearing the wave at the same time.
