Sylvanas is one of the better ranged assassins. I would rate her somewhere on the lower end of Tier S or higher end of Tier A. She is a very versatile ranged assassin, with options to go for more spell damage or autoattack damage or percent damage. She can also split push quite well. There are a lot of mechanics you need to know in order to maximize her damage and we will cover all those and more in this guide!

All you need to know about every build and talent for Sylvanas! Lots of Sylvanas specific tips and tricks and playstyle explanations as well! There will also be a Sylvanas Grandmaster VOD Analysis(in a separate post) to add even more coverage to the hero!

Thanks a lot Fan! I knew I didn't understand how to play her, but now the road to mastery has finally become manifest: I'll give her a go!

Thanks a lot for your guide(s) and your content in general! I'm trying to make Sylvanas work but I might confuse how to play her. When would you pick her over a Valla or a Zul? What I'm trying to grasp is what her role is. Straight up damage seems not her strong suit, at least in my hands. ; )

She can do damage similar to a Valla or Zuljin but I would say her damage output is a bit lower then those two. You just get the added benefit of being able to split push really well as well as freeze any buildings you want to push, so usually I would pick her over those heroes for split pushing purposes. She is also more mobile with unstoppable from level 1, so if theres a lot of CC she has better defense. For example a butcher charging a sylvanas should never hit if sylv has E, this is not true for valla or zuljin.

I don't understand how 13 D talent interacts with W. Does it stack? No? Should I AA one hero and W another?

fanhots

Those dont have any super crazy interactions. The 13 D talent just lets you autoattack(AA) from farther away which is 50% of the reason why its good. The other 50% is once the person you are AAing gets to 3 stacks, every additional AA will "splash" onto another nearby target, giving them a mark of your passive as well. SInce W is also a "splash" AOE spell, this gives you good overall AOE damage once you get enough AAs off. So all you havea to do is AA 1 hero to 3 marks, then W the same hero, then keep AAing.
