If you want to see a real game example of how to use Varian and what things you should be looking out for, I talk about some of them in these Grandmaster games that I played with Varian!

Hey Fan I have a question. Imagine a 5v5 teamfight where both teams are maintaining proper positioning. Then imagine their tank, let's say is an ETC, for example, and you as Varian are both basic attacking each other but not engaging since engaging on a well positioned tank is not efficient. Let's say you have a greymane and the enemy team has a sylvanas both with aa range of 5.5. Let's say their sylvannas walks up to you as Varian to autoattack you but in doing so she enters your engage zone. My questions are: Is she now out of position? I would guess she is (correct me if i'm wrong plz), then you should charge at her and taunt her. Then my next question is, then your allied greymane needs to get near sylvannas to damage her, but to do so he must enter the ETC range of CC. Is he now out of position? I hope you can understand my doubt, if sylv is out of position, then you should taunt and greymane should damage. But, if greymane needs to get out of position to damage and get slid by the ETC, does it mean that although sylv was out of position you shouldn't taunt her? Or is it the fact that you taunted sylv first makes it so greymane is actually not out of position since the enemy dps is taunted? Sorry if this is too complicated and stupid. Thank you for the VOD analysis, always amazing! <3

In reality this situation basically never happens where in theory everyone is in proper position. Even in grandmaster usually if you give it a few seconds someone goes out of position real quick. In this case you probably don't charge the sylvanas because you dont have followup, so shes not really out of position if you dont have followup damage to kill her. In practice though, if you are wondering and its this close, just do it and see what happens. If your team wins the fight, then you know she was out of position and you can learn from that. If you lose the fight and she doesnt die, then youll know she wasn't and you can look at the replay and see exactly why and learn from that too.
