Zarya is a very powerful yet often underutilized hero. She is great when paired with most ranged hype carries, to enable them with shields. She can also do an absurd amount of damage, its not uncommon to top damage with Zarya if you know exactly what you are doing. We will explain when to use her, and how to play her kit properly in this video.

I have a question! What is the best way to counter the Zarya when she is being played properly? I know this is hard to answer because just like Medivh and Abathur, she seems to be that kind of support that "cheats" the game by providing stuff that are really hard to counter. I'm thinking about tech talents for example Varian's shield shattering, or for example having less mages and more auto-attackers since it's easier to stay in range of the shielded enemy and wait out the shield to not give Zarya energy and to not waste damage, or perhaps even just ignore the fighting by accepting it's lost and just play macro by doing a lot of camps and split-pushing. In sum, if you are on a draft and you see for example a Valla, Zarya and Auriel, for example, how would you be thinking to counter this? Thank you for the great guide! <3

You already mention most of the ways to counter Zarya. It is extremely important to try to not dump any more damage then is neccessary into her shield to keep her energy low. Against a teamfight comp like Zarya, Valla, Auriel it is best to not fight directly into it. There are many ways to do this, for example getting split push heroes, or even getting global heroes and playing macro and only fighting when you can use the global hero for a man advantage. You can also draft heroes like Anub or Maiev to take away 1 piece of their combo, or draft wombo teams with overwhelming damage that 1 shield cannot deal with like VP + Ring + Twilight Dream.
