Zeratul is a very powerful and flashy melee assassin. Most people think Zeratul is a very difficult hero to play, but I have a different opinion. In my opinion, Zeratul is a difficult hero to learn, but once you learn how to play him, he is actually fairly easy to play. This is great news for everyone reading this, because we will teach you exactly what you need to know in order to play zeratul well.

Since Zeratul has 3 viable builds and so much to learn in each build, I will be splitting this up into 3 full comprehensive guides, one covering each build, to make sure we cover absolutely everything as this is a very popular hero for people. This guide will cover the AA Zeratul build in detail.

I totally get your opinion. I know I'm not a grandmaster so please don't see this as an arrogant comment xD But when I started playing I really liked to play Malthael and Alarak and my friends were always shocked as to how was I managing to play the hero, they were playing the game for years and in a couple of months I was playing these "hard" heroes they couldn't even play. I guess this has a lot to do with your opinion that the hero is not "hard" to play is just "hard" to learn. I understand that because, especially for Malthael and Alarak, I had a great intuition on their playstyle and so I was able to play rather well, they weren't difficult to me not as much as other though they were I just had the advantage of intuitively knowing what to do. I think Zeratul is the same so I'm looking forward to start practicing him a lot! Thanks for the guide Fan! :)

Zeratuuuuuuuuuuul! You finally got to my boi ❤ This is a good summary of the autoattack build, but he has four viable builds that you can go. There's the Q build (1112X24), the MotN W build (2231X31), and the VP W build (1232X32). I'm probably not qualified to explain them as well as you could, though. (The 13 talent is always a flex/situation pick, hence the Xs.) I really like the VP W build because nobody expects it, and once it hits 20 you have total control of the fight; you can engage or disengage however you feel like with VP, and the combination of blink and W cooldown reduction plus W teleport and the more-or-less-permanent 30% move speed gives you unparalleled control over the flow of the fight. The trick is that he starts playing like Illidan, where you don't want to move (much) on your own; you want to use your movement to keep autoattacking, and then move around with your abilities. It's a very hard build to master, but there are a few players I've seen who can pull it off.
