Zeratul is a very powerful and flashy melee assassin. Most people think Zeratul is a very difficult hero to play, but I have a different opinion. In my opinion, Zeratul is a difficult hero to learn, but once you learn how to play him, he is actually fairly easy to play. This is great news for everyone reading this, because we will teach you exactly what you need to know in order to play zeratul well.

Since Zeratul has 3 viable builds and so much to learn in each build, I will be splitting this up into 3 full comprehensive guides, one covering each build, to make sure we cover absolutely everything as this is a very popular hero for people. This guide will cover the Zeratul Q build in detail.

Just want to say that after the full combo usually the W and the blink will be back up. Which means that if possible/necessary you can W - Q - E again. The disclaimer is that obviously this time you can't take the vorpal unless you are sure you can't die since VP was already used and you have no blinks left. Just a small disclaimer. Amazing guide like always Fan, love every single one of them! :)

Oh, I'm dumb; I didn't read the description of your last video, where I commented that Zeratul has several builds. My bad! There's a tiny immunity period after dropping your VP during which the victims won't take any damage. As long as you count a half a heartbeat between pressing R and pressing Q, it won't matter, but if you try to slam RQ at the same time, even if you get R first, you'll miss. The way to use Wormhole with the Q build is, you blink in 1.25 seconds *before* you hit Q, and use that time to position. Blink never breaks stealth, so as long as their CC is point-and-click, they can't use it on you--and when you break stealth with Q, you just slam QE so you're out of danger. This won't work against all teams (e.g. Garrosh is not fun to play Wormhole against). Zeratul's combos take a bit to learn, but once you know them, they are easy! Just remember to practice either in bot matches or in sandbox games; if you try to learn in try mode, you'll be playing without latency, which makes the combos even easier to pull off, but it'll mess you up in a real game. Q build has fallen from grace; you can still 5v1 with it (I've seen Fan do it a couple times on stream, or close to it), but now you have to actually be good at the game. In the olden days, you sorta didn't; it was just that strong. It's still totally viable, so I guess the nerf was warranted, but I'm still going to grumble about it until they shut the servers down. Trivia time: Q build Zeratul is (I'm pretty sure) the hardest-nerfed build ever hit with a single nerf (as opposed to someone like Hanzo, who's had fifty nerfs but they all just chip away over time). In a single update, Q's base damage at 0 went from 212 to 200, Wormhole got a 1.25 windup before you can teleport back, Rending Cleave went from 50% to 40%, Void Slash went from 50% to 40%, and Shadow Mending went from 75% to 60%. Phew!

Never actually tried before, does void work on mitigating towers of doom core damage?

No, I think it worked a long time ago but they patched it so that doesn't work anymore
