I have been getting a lot of questions on my livestream regarding keyboard shortcuts the last few weeks and I realize a lot of players don't know or don't properly use many of these important key binds which make life much easier in hots. Make sure to understand and try to utilize all of these keyboard shortcuts to optimize your play even more!

Just want to add three extra important stuff to do with shift command. First you can use it to instantly start movimg right after you mount, so Z then shift right-click somewhere you want to start moving. You can also use it to instantly leave the Hall of Storms right after Hearthstoning. So just B then shift right-click towards the direction you want to start moving (Only useful if you know you will leave the Hall of Storm healthy enough). And finally since it is very easy toove towards the enemy to cast a spell and then you have to snap the mouse right back to move away, you can use shift commanding instead. So you are dancing on the backline and then you press your spell where you want it to go, for example Jaina's blizzard on the minion wave and shift right-click back to the backline. This makes you only go to the very edge of the cast and instantly step back. Don't work with auto attacks so that has to be great stutter step technique :) Thank you for the guide Fan! I miss playing ARAMs with you guys but Master thesis is priority Sadge. Love the guides as always <3

Can you change the alt key to something else for self cast?

Hi, Fan! I've been playing Hots for a few years and have always had the habit of using the locked camera (with L active). I've tried playing with L deactivated, but it feels very uncomfortable, and I always end up going back to the old way of playing. Do you have any tips for getting used to having L activated, other than just playing a lot in that mode?

alpinewarrior

Since I'm only attacking on command attack (a+left click) I'll give force move a try. Is there a force move for Raynor's raider? It's so annoying pulling the raider back but it doesn't move because I clicked on friendly minions

You should tell them about the attack area command, that way you can stagger your Stop action with the attack nearest enemy for stutter stepping heroes especially so you can maximize damage while continual movement in the direction of choice. Generally you are trying to move with the enemy hero as your staggering auto attacks.

Dauntless Onslaught

This is going to help with my healing and support heroes

fanhots

I believe you can, you can change basically every hotkey in HOTS just go to the hotkeys section and find the one you want to change and replace it with the one you want!

fanhots

If you want to get used to the L deactivated, no easy way other than lots of practice. However the good news is you don't need to change if you don't want to. There have been pro players that use both locked and unlocked so its really personal preference. Generally locked camera gives you better teamfight awareness around your hero and Unlocked better overall map awareness.

fanhots

Unfortunately i don't think there is one for raiders but yeah you could do it for your hero

fanhots

Yeah I made a whole guide on stutterstepping so that guide goes into more detail about all that, if anyone wants to know more about this just search stutterstep on the Patreon!

fanhots

Alt key in particular is amazing for healers, definitely get used to always healing yourself with that if you havent!

LongQs

ALT key is a nice one. I knew about shift & control already. For an example, do you spam S and move backwards when genji is deflecting you as tracer when you have auto attack on? Or do we need to adjust the setting for that specific MU?

fanhots

As tracer into genji, you have to use the hold position key H in order to not attack into his deflect. S would make you stop moving but still attack.

Could you make a guide on vision? It is something that is really not well explained in the community but is well known in other mobas. Like how vision work in hots, how to use bushes and walls to avoid being seen and what skills and attacks that can reveal you. How to scout vision well for your team and how to use vision advantage to get better team fights or skirmshes (or like abusing bushes to survive solo lanes matchups agains ranged heroes in maps like dragon shire). Would be nice to see tricks for different maps and situations. Vision in general is something would be really great to learn.

Im always surprised when good players don’t use shift

Hello! Recent Patreon subscriber and still learning HOTS. I watched the stutterstep video and get the concept, but would be interested in an even more basic tutorial. For example, when you’re stuttering-stepping, are you going right-click to move and then left-clicking on target, then back to right-click to move? Or do you hit “a” to auto attack between stuttersteps? Or is there any other tricks to help make the actual execution of stutterstepping easier/more efficient?

fanhots

So with mouse it is right click move -> right click target -> back to right click move & repeat You can use a move(the A key) on the ground as a replacement for right click hero if the hero you want to attack is the closest thing to your own hero. In this case it would be right click move -> a move ground -> right click move. This only attacks nearest target to your hero, but is easier since you can click the ground anywhere and not on the specific hero. Other then that you just need to practice it to get used to it and good at it.

Hey Fan. I recently saw one of your yt videos when mouse + keyboard was discussed. Would you care to play some games with cursor guides on to see how you move your mouse ? I am interested in it during team fights. Thanks !

fanhots

Hmm well you can see how I move my mouse in every yt video just by tracking the mouse on screen I feel? I'm not sure how much more I could add by describing it when its already viewable, unless you're thinking of something else you can describe better. I do have another more in detail settings guide coming up for various mouse and keyboard settings that will talk about mouse things. If there is anything more specific you can always ask on the comments and I'll answer here as well.

One thing I want to add: there is also an option “Quick Talent Favorite.” This will immediately pick the talent that is marked as your favorite. If you have a standard build, this works fine, but I also favorite the talents I want for a specific game beforehand. So when talents become available and I’m in the middle of a fight, I just press Ctrl + F without having to think (the default is Ctrl + `, but I prefer Ctrl + F).
