I SCREAM, LOUDLY, IN THIS REACTION. TAKE PRECAUTIONS.

So Rachel (boo) and Nathan (yay!) are both fine. Rachel has made her way into the opening credits as expected (still boo). Still waiting for word on Cooper. That said, when I say Nathan is fine, I mean physically, not necessarily emotionally. Also, do we know if Nathan is an unreliable narrator? (Don't tell me- I seem to be saying that a lot lately).

I so do not care about Peyton's brother. Just like I didn't really care about Ellie. I'm happy to be wrong about this, but so far, not interested.

Who knows that Dan killed Keith? I can't think of a single person. All I can think of is maybe one of the kids trapped in the school saw him. But why would they stay silent all this time? But someone has to know, right? Unless it's Dan losing his mind and doing this to himself.

Kind of feel like an idiot for not seeing that Brooke was gonna break up with Lucas. All the stuff she said was so obvious it seems dumb, in hindsight, that I didn't pick up on it. That said, he immediately ran to Peyton (with the fucking webcam on) so we can only assume it's gonna be a fun season for that trio. Sigh. Speaking of the webcam, whose screen name is that? I thought it was Ellie's. (Obviously, again, don't tell me. Lol.).

Wait. So Brooke is pregnant?!? I could see it being a misdirect of it being Haley, but it wasn't shot that way, and that's not really any better. She just got into Stanford!

Also, are Dan and Deb gonna fight to the death this season? Please, I need Dan to die.

I enjoy that you aren't invested in Peyton's long-lost relatives so far cause I was never into that storyline either. I need Brooke to find a better boyfriend and a better best friend. Regardless of their cheating, again, they don't listen/treat her very well in other ways. Maybe that's too harsh though.

Dana, you bring up a great point about Lucas always running to Peyton. It's a point I wanted to mention awhile ago. I haven't talked about Brooke and Lucas (Brucas) or Peyton and Lucas (Leyton) that much this season because I didn't want to indicate possible spoilers, so I kept it safe and talked about my love of Naley. I definitely thought there were Leyton hints this season, especially Peyton still having feelings for Lucas, (Peyton's Dark Angel subconscious, "Should I be with Lucas instead of Brooke?"🙄) which you pointed out and dreaded a few times, but I couldn't say anything.🤐 It was inevitable in whatever way that some part of Leyton wasn't done (also they never had closure) and was just simmering below the surface. The Leyton drama from season 1 was a huge point of contention for Brooke and Brucas the whole season. Brooke was always insecure about Peyton and Lucas because of what went down previously. She always questioned why he liked her as opposed to Peyton because they vibed on a different level. ("Why me?") She never felt like she measured up to Peyton in Lucas' eyes. Brooke was never going to get over that unless she could fully trust what Lucas was saying. It doesn't matter what Lucas said if she didn't believe it. They continuously fought about what Brooke thought his priorities were. Brooke was not wrong to constantly question Lucas. (But fighting over the same thing should tell her something.) Interestingly, Brucas and Naley were connected with the same obstacle keeping them apart, trust. They were on parallel journeys at the beginning of the season, with Lucas/Haley and Brooke/Nathan in the same boat and ended up in opposing directions at the end. Lucas and Haley had to regain the trust of Brooke and Nathan and prove they meant what they said. Haley said she loved Nathan and was not going anywhere. Haley sacrificed touring for Nathan, ("It's a shame she's not touring. She must really love you.") she worked with Chris, she gave Nathan the space he needed and she was there for him. Haley proved through actions that he could trust what she said. She was not leaving again. Lucas said he loved Brooke and was the guy for her. To me, Lucas failed to back up his words through action. He said one thing to her, but his actions said another. "I'm the guy for you Brooke Davis," but what we see is that he wants to be that guy for Peyton. He even told Peyton he loves being that guy for her (the one she turns to for help). Peyton has this whole "save me" aspect to her character (which I don't like) that Lucas always feels the need to save (which I also don't like). Imo, if Lucas was really serious about repairing Brooke's trust in him and cared about her insecurities regarding Peyton then he would let her other friends (she does have a bff) worry about her and help her and leave her alone. But his need to be there for Peyton, and be her savior, is greater than what Brooke might feel about it. I was never on board with Brooke and Lucas because she deserves better than him. He feeds into her insecurities of not being good enough and he doesn't care, saying she's psychotic for questioning his motives with Peyton. He makes these "grand speeches" and thinks that's enough. Lucas was way too close to Peyton given what he knew were the issues in his relationship with Brooke. For me, he should have distanced himself from Peyton; Sacrificed his friendship with Peyton to salvage his relationship with Brooke. He couldn't do that. His friendship (and proving that) was more important than his relationship. Is it a sacrifice that is fair? Maybe not, but Brooke, would have thought so. Of course she never outright said she needed this, but it was alluded to. Leyton is the cause of their issues and it would have gone a long way to prove to Brooke that he was serious. Bottom line is that Brooke was right, this is about her even if Lucas and Peyton are the cause. She was never going to trust him again. Why the show thought it would be a good idea to resurrect Leyton, by hurting Brooke again and destroy Peyton and Brooke's friendship again, is baffling to me. It wasn't well received the first time (Leyton lost a lot of supporters because of that), but sure let's basically do the same thing again. Like the first time, I hate that they're fighting over a boy again. Like you, I prefer Brooke and Peyton over Leyton or Brucas. Sorry, this got a little long, but I've been holding it in, lol.

I don't think that was too harsh. They totally invalidate Brooke's feelings. Peyton was essentially mocking her with the sex comment.

I don't like Rachel. I enjoyed Haley telling her off. Haley is generally a forgiving person, so it hits harder when she does it as opposed to Brooke.

I didn't care about Peyton's long-lost relatives either. Honestly, it's hard for me to sympathize with her storylines/traumas when they do nothing to make her character better. They are just another excuse for her to run to Lucas for help or for him to save her. They also isolate her character from everyone but Lucas. Of course she's already told Lucas about her brother. Did Peyton even interact with anyone but Lucas (other than the run in with Brooke in Lucas' room) the whole episode?

"You're always saving me, Lucas." I think this was suppose to be romantic? It wasn't for me. (Not a big fan of the damsel in distress trope) It just made Peyton look helpless. Sure she went through a lot, but she is always the victim and never gains strength from those situations. She just waits until Lucas can save her again. Girl, save yourself.

Very well said....and that's the problem that I always had with Peyton herself. And I know that her character was supposed to be the dark and depressing (broody cheerleader) character always dealing with trauma after trauma but at some point, their needs to be another identity for her character, some payoff and growth for all her tragedy and there was not. They did keep her isolated with her problems except for turning to Lucas and she always seemed to only want him when he was unavailable which was a horrible look and did nothing to enhance her character, not to mention was only kept in place to keep the dreaded triangle of doom going which wasn't ascetically pleasing or entertaining in the least. I'd pair her with Jake any day of the week, and it certainly provided better story arcs for sure!!!

Yep....not a big fan of the damsel in distress trope either, an unfortunately that's all they seemed to turn Peyton into, especially where Lucas was concerned. It just wasn't entertaining at all and to keep sacrificing Brooke and Peyton's friendship because of it made it even worse!!!

Glad you mentioned all the trauma these characters go through living in Tree Hill Dana, lol!!! And yes...your right to point out that Nathan is for sure dealing with PTSD from the accident right now and feeling sort of survivor's guilt if you will. He's gonna have an interesting journey this season and hopefully you'll enjoy what's in store for him and Haley, not only as individuals but as a couple.

Hello there, 1/ "Her storylines/traumas do nothing to make her character better" They do make her character better but it is also a work in progress. I won't spoil anything or explain in details all the previous storylines but if we look at Ellie, she had a positive impact on Peyton. She gained strenght despite Ellie's death. I remember Peyton in 1X05 running red lights because she was still tortured by her mom's death. Ellie's death could have destroyed her, but no. She handled the situation all by herself. She learned Ellie's lessons (not being afraid, every song ends but enjoy the music). She organized the Friends with benefit concert at TRIC, which certainly helped her get on with life. That's a lot of good things. The storyline with Anna is also a good exemple of how brave Peyton is. She is not S1 Peyton who used to be scared of expressing herself, who kept her art on the walls of her bedroom or prefered to stay anonymous. Despite all the wrongs Felix did to her, she used her voice and her art to stand up for what is right and for those who might have been hurt. Sure she has a lot of work to do on herself and she still carries her traumas deep inside her (they can't vanish in one semester lol)... so let's see where that leads us. 2/ "The damsel in distress trope - It just made Peyton look helpless. Girl, save yourself" it's very harsh and even unfair. Yes, Lucas saved her on very specific occasions, but I'm not sure what Peyton herself can do when someone drugs her or shoots her. And it's not like she's willingly putting herself in danger as if she was looking for it. She is just a disaster magnet since season 1. Her problems are so big. Actually, she is very strong. I can't think of a single character who has handled the same kind of problems alone. Lucas does what anyone would do when they care about someone. "You're always saving me" is about love, trust and feeling safe and the realization of that despite trying so hard to bury her feelings... If you are looking for something romantic, to me, it's here. Like Haley to Nathan. Haley is his sanctuary, she helped him dealing with his problems. But the difference with Naley is that Peyton missed the opportunity to be with Lucas because she chose to protect her friendship with Brooke. I understand that people may not enjoy a character in a chain of traumas. It is clearly not fun. Do the writers give her too much traumas ? Yes. But I know that these stories resonates with many people. I also like dark characters and the idea that one day they will beat their demons.

I don't pretend to have a degree in Lucas decoding but the conversation between Lucas and Karen has a different meaning to me. Brooke told him that she loved him and that she stopped missing him because it felt as if he never missed her. When Lucas asks Karen this question, isn't he putting himself in Dan's shoes (about not loving Karen/Brooke back)? I think he is, and that he wants to know Karen's feelings in order to understand Brooke and be sure that she'll be fine. He doesn't want to be like Dan...
