And we're at the end of the current journey. I know we've got a S3 coming, but who knows how long it could be before we get it.

This episode was lovely. I enjoyed it so much. I was trying to delay today because I didn't want it to end, but honestly, I'm really happy with what we got.

I still have no idea how things could possibly ever be right with the three of them together again, and I don't think Belly made her choice for the right reason, and Conrad is still being Conrad. However, I was really satisfied with this episode. I laughed a lot, I cried a lot. It was a good way to start the weekend.

The summer house is in MA so Belly and Jere could hypothetically still go there pretty often. They don't in the book but who knows for the show. I guess Adam is living there full-time now? I wonder how that will affect season 3 cause that's an odd dynamic for what happens in book 3. It was really cool to see the book 3 hints with the letters and the glass unicorn in Belly's room. I won't say anything else cause spoilers but I liked the easter eggs they left. I feel like the show tried to make Belly and Jere getting together more of an active decision on Belly's part compared to the book which I like in theory but what it really did was just make me roll my eyes at Belly. She's still so hurt and upset over Conrad that she's stubbornly refusing to listen to anyone tell her that there could still be a future for them. It doesn't matter whether it's Susannah or Jere or Conrad himself. She just wants to run and so she was kind of callous and inconsiderate of him this entire episode. She was almost trying to coddle Jere and his feelings to make sure that he wouldn't back out cause she needs him to move on and so how Conrad felt was inconsequential. It really surprised me that it was Jere who was trying to be mature and consider everyone's feelings. I think it mostly stemmed from him thinking he was the one going to get screwed over again but still I appreciated it. I think this honestly might have been the first episode this season that I truly enjoyed Jeremiah. He felt more genuine and less selfish and manipulative in this episode. Conrad was totally being a little shit at first but I thoroughly enjoyed it lol. It feels like he's been building towards it all season like he's just been absorbing everyone shitting on him, esp Belly and Jere, and taking it with grace for the most part and so it was almost a relief that he actually got to have a reaction, even if it was an immature one. He switched back on the mature, responsible, take-care-of-everyone mode pretty quickly though like less than 24 hours later, he gracefully bowed out of the motel with a blessing given and an agreement to meet up for the fourth of July still. I also enjoyed it cause some of what he was saying was what we were thinking as the audience. I hope they keep the Taylor/Steven story going into season 3 and don't just drop it like Shayla, especially since I feel like season 3 will open with a two-year time jump. It'll be a nice accompaniment to what book Taylor had in book 3 and kind of be a way to keep Steven in the story cause he's pretty absent in book 3. Steven and Taylor arguing about team Conrad vs Jere was kind of funny but I think it was interesting too cause it was almost like a way for Jenny Han to explain her reasoning in a more direct way for people that didn't read the books.

Someone was talking about the scenes being the same as the one they used to film Dawson's Creek, which was in NC. I think that's how I got confused. Oops. It makes much more sense for it to be in MA, though. I sort of got the impression that 'the Boston house' they were selling wasn't where he was actually living? But I have no idea why I feel that way. But he's gotta live somewhere, so maybe? But you're right. Most of book three can't take place if Adam is living at the summer house. I'm so curious how that's going to work. Yes! I literally gasped when the letters fell, and Laurel started putting them back in the envelopes. I just sort of assumed we wouldn't see them until the very end. I also love that we got a bit of an explanation for how they got mixed up. I just can't buy that Belly is actively choosing Jere because she loves him more than Conrad. I'm sure she does actually like him. And probably love him, but not more than Conrad. I agree with you. It seemed like she was trying to force this relationship to sort of prove to herself that she was over Conrad, which, obviously, she isn't. And Jere then seemed unsure of the relationship after he spoke to Conrad, who admitted he still loved Belly. I know part of this is Jere trying not to get hurt again because he feels like Belly will up and leave him for Conrad at a moment's notice, but there was so definite growth going on. He was trying to do the mature thing if it was just to protect himself. I know! I probably wasn't supposed to enjoy Conrad acting like a brat as much as I did. But it was so entertaining to watch! I'd love to see him in something else where he doesn't have to play this brooding character. I was not surprised at all to find that after a couple hours of acting like that, he went back to being the Conrad we all expected and tried to make peace. If this is the Taylor we get for S3, I'm all in for more of her and Steven. I cannot believe they are the ship I'm rooting for. I would not have guessed that back when this show first started. That's an interesting point. When I read the books, I think I was much more team Jere. Now, in the show, I'd say I went the other way, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the chemistry I feel between Belly and Jere in the show is giving me big BFF vibes. Also, in the book, I feel like Conrad was meaner, and Jeremiah was the one who was constantly inviting Belly to hang out with them when Conrad was mostly indifferent towards her. But it's certainly possible that I'm not remembering that correctly. I ended up enjoying this show so much more than I thought I would.

I feel the flashback of Susannah plays a lot to her decision with going forward with Jeremiah... like you said she loves him but it's more of a best friend that you don't want to lose. She can't handle the thought of losing him again, which is understandable and she feels that will happen if she isn't with him. She wasn't aware of what he told Conrad. That he would be ok if she ended up with Conrad this time. Plus as she said in episode 5, she didn't want to love someone as much as she loved Conrad ever again. So with Jere it's less of an emotional investment. As for Conrad we know that it's not a healthy time for him to be involved with someone. He is still growing and dealing with his moms loss. I wonder if in season 3, Cleveland will give him the same advice as he gets from the old restaurant owner? I can't wait to see how they further the plot. But it's made every turn it's needed to setup book 3. I do wonder if her not being a virgin will play into the downfall of her and Jeremiah? Also will the infinity necklace be a source of contention for for her and Jere? You know she isn't going to throw it away. I loved the book details, with the letters from Susannah and the glass unicorn with the broken horn that we see Conrad putting on her dresser. Can't wait for that flashback! Did you ever google and look up the letters that Conrad sends to her at the end of book 3? He knew her favorite candy in this episode but that is sort of a reference to those letters. I really hope the Writers Strike gets resolved soon, that way they can get in track with season 3! I'm going to miss this show immensely. Also the Filming location is North Carolina, for the fictitious Cousins Beach, MA. And I'm thinking Adam probably has an apartment or something in Boston, from when he and Susannah weren't together? Just my thought.

I agree. I do not think this is, 'I am in love with you' love. It's you're my best friend, and I don't want to lose you, and when I express my feelings for Conrad, you disappear. That's another good point. There is less chance of her getting hurt if she's with Jeremiah and not 100% invested. I really love how they adapted this book. I'm so curious to see what happens going forward. My guess is that instead of Belly finding out Jere slept with one of the sorority girls on Spring Break, he finds out she slept with Conrad, and that's what causes the blowup. Just a guess, but if Jeremiah lost it when she told him she and Conrad kissed, I can't imagine what he'd do to find out this. There is no way that necklace doesn't play in. It's too big of a plot point and symbol for them. I wonder if maybe Jere will find it right after he finds out about her and Conrad, and it will be a one-two punch for him. I also like the idea that Conrad couldn't keep the necklace but wasn't willing to getting rid of the unicorn. I can see him keeping it for her, but he put it prominently on the dresser where he'll have to see it. I had read the letters, but I'd forgotten about the Sour Patch Kids. You motivated me to look them up and re-read them. I hadn't remembered most of them, actually. I just remembered they existed. It was fun to read them again. Thanks for the suggestion! Ha. I totally mixed up those locations. Yeah, that's my assumption. I didn't get the impression Adam was living in the Boston house, so I hope that means the summer house is empty for S3. And speaking of S3, it's gonna be such a long wait. I cannot believe how much I ended up enjoying this show!
