OMG. Am I gonna spend 187 episodes complaining about how much I dislike Brooke? That's going to get annoying. I'm sorry in advance.

What the hell is Deb doing with Dan? He so doesn't deserve her.

Ugh. We were so close to a Lucas/Peyton ship! Bring it back! I want them together!

Also, I feel so terribly for Haley. Even though it does feel like she should know better, I only want good things for her. Hopefully, someone will give Brooke a taste of her own medicine at some point.

It is always funny to see which characters reactors like/dislike when they start watching this show. This show is 9 seasons how you feel about characters is definitely going to change throughout the seasons. I mean I feel like of all the characters so far you can already start to see a change in Nathan's character in the last episode but even more so this episode.

So true lol. It's so much fun to watch One Tree Hill reactions. It's like the only show where I don't mind hearing people hate the characters I love or love the characters I hate. Because the journey is just impeccable!! :)

i actually really like this episode. this show does characters so well. i think we got a lot of info without it being directly said. like we saw nathan being upset by what brooke did. i think the past nathan, the beach house nathan, might have cut up about it and laughed along too but you could see it bothered him and reading haley's note had an effect on him. brooke...here's this very young girl who seems to just be screaming for attention, the wrong kind of attention, at every turn. and her night comes to an end passed out alone on the floor. i think this episode was also needed for haley and lucas. lucas has kind of been bugging me with the whole nathan thing. even if he thinks he knows better, he still has needed to kind of step back a bit so i am so glad when he said she wasn't going to get an "i told you so" from him. she's a very sweet person and someone who wants to give others the benefit of the doubt. my heart goes out to her. i loved that we got that soft moment between her and lucas though. i think their friendship needed that moment between them after some of the things he's said to her, rather justified or not.

Nathan's character is the most confusing for me. Every other episode, I go back and forth between feeling sorry for him or being mad at him!

All of the episodes have been good so far. But I did really like this one. I can never tell how I feel about Nathan. Half the time, I'm mad at him; half the time, I feel sorry for him because Dan's his father. And Brooke, as much as she's annoyed me as a character at various points, I do sort of feel bad for her. We don't really know anything about her home life as of yet, but I can't imagine it's good. I love Haley. I really do. I think it says something that almost every person she interacts with enjoys spending time with her. Even if they don't really want or plan to.

What I like about the character of Nathan is around this time you really start to see him learning from his mistakes. I would much rather have a character who makes mistakes, takes responsibility for it, and changes from that learning process. There are certain characters that shall go nameless for now who continually make the same mistakes over and over. Just as clarification i'm not talking about early S1 Nathan but around this time you really see the real Nathan come out. Not the facade he put up to appear cool and tough to his Basketball buddies. Or the tough shell he put up to deal with his dad's bullshit. You see what I believe the real Nathan used to be coming back out of him. Having good people in your life can really have an effect on a person.

yes!! i wanna piggy back on this real quick if that's okay; i love the acting for nathan's character because you can see little moments of second-guessing, of the cogs turning in his head as he's trying to sort out the person he wants to be. nathan at the very start didn't give a second thought to anything. he could be cruel without even stopping to consider his words or actions and their effect on others. now, there's little pauses as well as little moments of showing he's capable of caring. like in the last episode when he asked lucas if he was okay, after having punched him to trick "thing, thing one, and thing two" it's small things, but i appreciate them a lot. it shows growth, and as you said, learing.

Great addition! There's such a huge difference in how he reacts to his mistakes now. In the first episodes you could tell that he was just bullshitting to get what he wants. He'd do or say horrible things to Peyton and he would say whatever he felt he needed to say in order to get her back. And you could tell the difference for a couple reasons. For one, he would call Peyton a bitch and then apologize immediately without taking a moment to really think about how he had hurt her. Also he would keep making the same mistakes. Now it's so different. It's so clear that he's apologizing cause he feels bad and what he did was bucking against the person he wants to be. He takes the time to think about what happened, apologizes and then there's real change that accompanies the apology.

I totally agree about Nathan. You can also see that he's struggling a bit actually to be an asshole. It's almost like it's causing him a little bit of pain. But he doesn't actually know exactly how to navigate being a better person, but he's trying. You can see he really was hurt when he realized that Brooke hurt Haley.

Emily, I can totally see it too. You can quite literally see him thinking through what will happen if he acts a certain way.
