Okay, so this was a planned, rational, thought-out marriage. And we get it: Haley is not pregnant. Lol. But I LOVE that her parents respected her enough to really give it the thought it deserved. 

I hate how Deb is treating her, but I can sort of see her side. That said, she doesn't need to be a nasty bitch about it (especially when I assume a lot of this is her feeling guilty about almost letting Dan die- which she totally should not feel guilty about).

So curious to see how Nathan and Haley deal with married life.

I'm with you Dana. I can see both sides of the Naley situation. There's the realistic aspect and the romantic aspect. Realistically, I do agree with Deb (though not her delivery) and her reasons (via her experience) that they got married too young. You should not be married before you know who you are and can you really know that at 16? Who you are at 16 won't be the same as who you are at 26. There are just so many different directions your life can take at this age when it's just yourself you have to consider. You need time to explore it all and figure it out. Marriage and kids can really limit your possibilities and does not afford you that time. Sacrifices might have to be made. 16/17 is just really young to face this reality, which is their reality now. I liked that they followed up Deb's conversation with Nathan and Haley with Karen's conversation with Haley, where Karen was trying to be supportive but was also being realistic, "sometimes love fades." This is especially true as people change and become different people. Deb and Karen have both talked about this subject because of the decisions they made when they were young, becoming parents and in Deb's case a wife. Will they become Dan and Deb or even Dan and Karen? I like that they are using the parents history as a bridge to Naley. (It's a good way to connect the adults and kids.) It's got to be hard becoming your own person so young when you are tied to a husband and children. It's obvious Nathan is just now figuring out who he is and who he wants to become. He's come a long way, but it's only been a couple of months since his self reflection/discovery. Also, it seems like Nathan is using marriage to Haley as a way to have a family. "You're my family now." He wants that family that he feels like he can't have with Dan and Deb. Someone who will be with him no matter what. As far as Haley, even though she seems mature this is her first serious relationship and she just did the craziest and the most hasty thing she's ever done in her life. I think after her conversations with Deb and Karen, the real Haley showed up and she's freaking out about what she did lol. Romantically, I also agree with Nathan, "Why can't forever start today?" They love each other and could forever. Nathan was very convincing and he seems really committed to making it work. Haley's parents did approve. They know their daughter. She's smart, responsible, and they trust her judgement even if it seems rash. While I do see both sides, I do understand and lean towards the realistic aspects of why marrying really young is maybe not the best decision. But that said I love that they are showing two sides, it's complicated, unexpected, unique and entertaining. That's why I love it. I was definitely invested in this storyline. I'm loving your reactions!

It's a scene I wish that they had included because it shows Haley's dad actually giving approval for them to get married. I feel like this scene really gives some more insight into how serious Nathan is about this marriage and why he proposed. Like Nathan is saying all the right things and I believe it. I believe that he is sincere about this and it's not simply a way to escape his family or some other reason like that. I love the addition of Haley's parents. They are just so funny and it's especially great compared to Deb who is such a bitch.... it is so nice to have this comic relief. This is such a difficult position to be in as a parent but honestly if I were in their position I would have given my blessing as well. Sometimes you have to know when to let your child make their own decisions. Especially if I had a daughter like Haley... Haley is so responsible, I would probably have no worries about that either. And it would be different if I knew that the boy was abusive or something but this is Nathan we're talking about :) This is no spoiler necessarily but Deb's kind of behavior isn't gonna do any good. It's just going to alienate your child and make them not want to come to you for help or have a relationship with you. And with Deb she acted so upset to lose Nathan, but him getting married doesn't make her not a mother anymore. She doesn't have to lose him, but being a bitch to him and his wife would make him not want to associate with her. It just seems like she could potentially shoot herself in the foot with this if she doesn't course correct her reaction)

I'm actually torn on whether I think that should have been included or not. I mean, I loved it, and I think what it showed was really important, but somehow, this show does nothing but make me cry, and that scene was no exception! Lol. I very much like Haley's parents. I've mentioned I'm a sucker for good teen/parent relationship and I think both of Haley's parents are great for this. I totally agree. I don't think there are many 17-year-olds that I would agree with them getting married, but Haley is probably the most mature 17-year-old on the planet. Yeah, I understand Deb being upset and blindsided by this, but what she's doing is going to make this so much worse. She should know that the easiest way to get a teenager to do something is to tell them not to!

100% agree. Karen's conversation is what Deb should have said. They potentially both feel the same way, but going forward, when they have problems, who are they gonna go to for help, Deb or Karen? Deb is so concerned about Haley taking away her son that she doesn't seem to realize that she's pushing him away herself. The good part about this is that they don't seem to be looking to have kids soon. So, that helps the situation slightly, but Haley (I don't think) has never been in a relationship, so her first one and marriage at 17 might be difficult. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'm saying I think we're in for a lot of drama around it. Lol. I also found it quite delightful that Haley's reasoning for them making a mistake was that they don't share any CDs. When my husband and I got together, our musical taste was VERY different. Now, I like a bunch of his, and he likes a bunch of mine, but it never occurred to me that it might be a reason to break up. Lol. Thank you! I love doing them!
