This location, located less than an hour from my home, is by far one of my favorite places to shoot.

Little River Canyon National Preserve is a very unique place. The ‘canyon’ (by Eastern U.S. standards) is atop Lookout Mountain, a 75 mile long ridge and plateau. The Little River runs through the canyon and features waterfalls, rapids and numerous swimming spots popular with the locals.

The Preserve also features rock outcroppings, scenic winding roads and numerous side canyons and streams, all of which I have utilized in my work. Because of the small population in the surrounding areas, finding privacy isn’t typically a problem except during the summertime. I have, surprisingly, been able to shoot in the most easily accessed areas at the height of summer without encountering the public. Most of the nudes of Shelby in the water were taken at that time.

I am including, as usual, multiple versions of images (black and white, color, croppings) as well as many that aren’t nudes. The images are sequenced chronologically.

Enjoy!
