(sorry but audio is wack this week since I accidentally recorded through my MacBooks mic) What an awesome close to the first season!! These last four episodes really picked up and were full of incredible moments and high stakes situations. Korra got to be an absolute badass but not without some huge sacrifices. Enjoy :)

A whole hour?! Im ready!

I wonder if maybe the reason blood bending works to take away someone’s bending is that it can be used to really mess up a bender’s chi paths. That doesn’t really explain Korra still being able to air bend though.

Ashlyn

I heard someone say one time that taking away someone’s bending practically takes parts of their soul because bending comes from within

Don't know if it's on your to watch list yet, but you gotta watch Jojo Rabbit. If you miss watching a story that explores dark topics and materials through the eyes of children like with the og ATLA, then you enjoy jojo rabbit. It's a movie about WW2 from the pov of a 10 year old german boy and it's written and directed by Taika Waititi (he's in it too) and he won an academy award for the screenplay among so so many awards and it is genuinely hilarious and absolutely heartbreaking. Add it to your line up, I think you'll really like it and we'll really like watching you react to it

"They're sticking with the bending loss, that's gutsy". Yeah, that would have been gutsy 😞

KaijinGarou

Technically, it's Aang who gives the bending back as she only does it in the Avatar state, so she must be doing it through him.

I too think giving Korra her bending back 2 minutes later was a massive missed opportunity for allowing her character to grow, especially given the direction the show wants to go with her. It's the biggest hint so far of the writing problems with the show that will continue to pile up and IMO them not having a second season confirmed does not justify it as they wasted so much time in pointless, under-cooked subplots like the love triangle that could have been invested better in things like this and there's also something called 'open ending'. You can end the season without solving every conflict and wait for more seasons. And if you don't get them, an open or sad ending is still better IMO than a rushed one. That scene will never not be epic but it is unfortunately in detriment of the writing that will only get worse. I truly love the concepts of this show: Korra being the opposite to Aang, she having to become a better person instead of a better Avatar, the non-bender conflict... But the execution wasn't good and I can't pretend it was. Her staying without bending for at least one more season WAS the perfect path to develop her as just a person and they flopped it. And I could have forgiven it had the writers done something good anyway with what they ended up choosing, but I don't think they did.

Based on your reaction to the episode titled "skeletons in the closet" i'm guessing you've never heard that phrase? It just means secrets basically, but in a bad or embarrassing secret

The Zuko voice actor is a little distracting lol. I am having this play in the background while I'm working so all I can see in my head is Zuko

I think if the showrunners were given the chance, they would have made the second season about Korra getting her bending back, which would have been amazing to see. But even though its a quick resolution, the scene of her on the cliff is a great moment for her character.

Oathkeeper_13

I always thought it was fitting that Zuko's voice actor was brought back and now voices Zuko's grandson named "General Iroh". This season is great, unfortunately Season 2 isn't and is almost universally agreed to be probably the worst season of both shows

I was so excited to watch this I got off at 1:30 am last night and got home around 2 am and watched the full reaction before going to bed even though I needed to get up at 9 am lmao

I love this show so much!!! I was so excited to get off work and watch this tonight!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying Korra for who she is and not just being mad she isn't Aang. Yes we all agree Mako is kind of a doof. The love triangle stuff can be a little annoying but just sit tight it gets better! Also the scene where Lin sacrificed herself for Tenzin and his family makes me tear bend every time. It's just such a powerful scene. Especially when we see her lose her bending.

I just finished the episode 10 part of the reaction, and I just had to comment on Oscar saying, “That’s crazy that Aang didn’t get more airbenders. I expected there to be a couple dozen of them by now.” Like damn, Oscar, how many baby mamas did you want Aang and/or Tenzin to have? After all, airbenders don’t just pop up at random. And by Aang’s time there hadn’t been any other airbenders in generations.

The line “but you called me here” will always give me shivers man

Virtually all good science fiction is an exploration of what it means to be human, reflecting on our values and our dreams as well as our hubris and shortcomings. A great, albeit older example of this is the 1956 movie “Forbidden Planet.” While the robotics are relatively primitive and the CGI is nonexistent, the story is very much an exploration of who we collectively are at our human core, and the movie has earned its place in the sci-fi pantheon. It would be a good movie to review, if only to see how it holds up with a younger audience.

You are continuing the series right? Season 2 is worth putting up with for Season 3.
