It was so much fun seeing this classic but I was not ready for how frightening some parts were! Can't imagine how terrifying this would have been for a kid in 1938! Enjoy :)

My sister said she used to be terrified of when the evil queen turns into the old woman.

Sarah Marion

I was scared of this movie as a kid, now as an adult that really likes dark fantasy I’ve come to appreciate it 🍎

Francisco Alvarado

This was Disney's first feature film in its history, hence Walt Disney's dedication at the start credits

Wall-E

Yes! Been looking forward to this reaction. Please, watch Jojo Rabbit.

Shanae K.

This movie is amazing. I love how she prayed. Its my favorite part

Sarah Marion

@14:53 I had an interaction like this on a walk, all the deer had their babies and I had apples to spare so I guess that makes me a Disney princess

Maisie

Oh thank goodness it's this version 😂 You're correct! This was the first full-length "feature" animated film--all the way back in the 1930s! Snow White is estimated to be about 14. In the written fairytale she's only about half that, just a little kid, but Disney wanted her to get married. Ick.

Isaias

Please dont watch the live action version. Its absolutely horrendous and insult to the original.

Michael

I know this is not a classic, but if you have not seen it, please watch Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time. You do not need to watch the second movie.

Kate

Oh I love that you reacted to this! The film that started it all. Hopefully Bambi is soon as well :)

OMG I'm super excited that you watched this Disney treasure of a movie Oscar! When I saw the notification for this I was so excited! BTW just one correction Oscar it came out in 1937 not 1938! But yeah this movie is kinda scary. But I love the hilarious interactions between the Dwarfs! That's my favorite part of the movie! The Dwarfs were hilarious! Love this classic gem of a movie! ❤️I also love it later in the movie when the Dwarfs and Snow white were singing and dancing! So cheerful! That scene always makes me happy! So light hearted and fun! I also like it when the Dwarfs were fighting over a place to sleep when they said that Snow White could sleep in their beds! Very funny scene! Thanks for watching this Oscar! I'm a HUGE Disney fan!!!! Please watch and react to Alice in Wonderland (1951) next please with a cherry on top! Another absolute Disney classic animated treasure of a movie!❤️

CoinBase Executive 7

I also loved how the Dwarfs really cared about her and were really worried about her and went after her as soon as the animals came over to get them at their work place. That was very sweet of the Dwarfs to be so loving and caring towards her! I'm glad that they wanted to protect her from the Queen! Awww they were so sad when they thought she died! But then they were super excited when she woke up after the prince kissed her! Awww so sweet! And all the animals were super happy too that she woke up! The ending scene was so beautiful when the prince carried her away to his castle in the sky! Amazing! Love it!😍❤️ I'm also glad the animals were watching her very closely and looking out for her! Glad they were there to warn the Dwarfs that the Queen got her!

Jim Schmitz

Seconding Emily's request for: "Wicked" (2024) whenever she gets around to it.

Michael

Watching it now, I find it funny that the Queen was jealous of Snow White's beauty, but the Prince was actually first lured by Snow White's singing.

Anna H

One of my favorite classics! I love love this moment in film history where everything changed, for animation and for movies altogether. What a gamble Walt took -- "Disney's folly" as many called it -- and now here we are. Crazy to think the brand as we know it today might not have ever existed if not for Snow White's success. I found the movie so frightening at times as a kid, but never so much as to stop me from grabbing my VHS tape again and again. :) But I think that's why I liked it deep down; I was enthralled with Snow White's perseverance given just how awful and horrifying her circumstances were. The simple juxtaposition of this was powerful and all the more rewarding in the end. Gosh I so miss old Disney. The joy, optimism, darker tones...really wish the studio still made them like this.

CoinBase Executive 7

Also Oscar watch and react to the movie Furious 7 (The Fast and the Furious 7) (2015) starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Jason Statham (action/thriller) absolutely fantastic movie! The action sequences will absolutely make your jaw drop! This is the absolute best movie from The Fast and the Furious franchise! I absolutely love this movie! Absolutely ACTION PACKED!!! NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN THIS MOVIE! Pretty please with a cherry on top watch and react to this movie Oscar!

Liam

This couldve all been avoided if the mirror had just lied. The only thing i find even a little scary is the singing.

Statmanjeff

Disney paid $5 per gag (I guess to the animators) for joke ideas, such as the dwarves' nose popping over the edges of the bed after Snow White wakes up. It would seem apparent since there are so many gags in this pictures. It's also the first time (I've heard) that the dwarves were given names. That's probably another $5 right there. The Snow White voice actress was a lucky find, I believe. The studio needed someone with operatic power yet who sounded untrained and natural (or something like that) —— and I think they lucked out when somebody knew somebody who knew someone kind of a thing. Thank you for presenting this right at the right time. Couldn’t pick any one thing to do this morning and then this popped up in my emails. I prefer this over Sleeping Beauty. Not so many plot holes.

CoinBase Executive 7

Also congratulations Oscar on the K-Pop Demon Hunters video upload! That upload did phenomenally well!!! I looked at the number of views recently and it already has over 300,000 views!! I was like oh wow that's incredible! In such a short amount of time! Yeah I loved that movie too! Totally awesome and rad!!! In just a little while it's going to have more views than your Mulan reaction video! Mulan is currently the number 1 video on your channel Oscar! Well in terms of having the most views out of all your videos! Then the 1st Lion King reaction video is in the number 2 spot for having a ton of views! Over 300,000 views! So now you have 3 videos that have over 300,000 views each! Wow pretty incredible Oscar! Thats 900,000 views total just for those 3 videos. We're rooting for you Oscar! Love your channel! ITS THE BEST CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE FOR SURE!

Emily D Fredriksen

Oooo cool ! Day 43: og suggesting of (wicked 2024)🩷💚

CoinBase Executive 7

Also Oscar you totally have to watch (just for yourself, you don't have to make a reaction video if you don't want to but it would be totally rad and super awesome if you did!!) a video on YouTube, its a YouTube shorts video about 18 seconds long. The title of the video is Zendaya's magical Cinderella dress WAS GIVING. ITS THE COOLEST THING YOU WILL EVER SEE IN YOUR LIFE!!! Her Cinderella evening gown actually lights up while she's wearing it!!! It's incredibly cool and rad!! Please check out this video Oscar! Your jaw will for real drop! Mine did! When I saw this video for the first time I said oh wow!!!! That's incredible!!!! Love it!❤️

Ken R

You seem to love animation. You should check out the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons from 1940. They're the prettiest cartoons maybe ever made

Jim Schmitz

Interestingly, in the original folk lore, some believe the dwarves were meant to represent the seven deadly sins. BTW, the next feature fairytale released: "Pinocchio" is regarded by many as Disney's crowning achievement in animation.

Kjrsten Schindler

I love that you watched this!! This movie is a personal favorite of mine, partially because it was the first full-length animated feature film that Disney ever made and was animated using traditional, hand-drawn animation techniques, so cool! It's also a German fairy tale that kids grow up listening to and learning about in Germany. As a German descendant, I love seeing a bit of German culture splashed in the film (when we first meet Snow White, she's wearing traditional German wooden shoes)! Also, when I was younger the forest scene really scared me, but watching it again as an adult with a psychology degree, I think why they did that and made it so scary was because Snow White is a child (depicted as an early teenager, but it's not specified, but fan theories suggest around 14-years-old). Children generally have "made up" or "exaggerated" (for lack of better words) fears like a monster under the bed or in the closet. Hence, explaining why the branches were normal, then turned to hands, then turned back to normal. She was also just threatened, started running into an unknown forest, and it was dark (I know I was scared of the dark as a kid). Of course, she would be scared and think the trees are grabbing her or trying to eat her and stuff. And you were right about them being almost bankrupt before and during the production of this movie, as well as this movie, saving Disney from bankruptcy (my grandma still remembers when this came out; for context, she was born in 1927). I’m super excited for you to watch Maleficent. I love that movie, and personally, in my opinion, I think it’s one of the better live-action adaptations (along with Saving Mr. Banks, Cruella, and Aladdin in that order) for me! AND if you want a live-action alternative to 2025 Snow White, I would highly recommend 2012 Mirror Mirror (she's allowed to be a badass and find love all in one movie)! In my opinion, Mirror Mirror is the better version of Snow White's story! (Sorry for the long comment, I have so many thoughts watching this movie again as an adult haha!)

Rebecca

That "I wish I was happy" slip-up was hilarious 😂

Rebecca

I watched this recently after so many years, and I was brought to tears ngl. I know it sounds real cheesy and not that deep, but seeing a female character being so gentle and traditionally feminine, was quite refreshing and almost healing. A lot of media these days feature women of the one-dimensional "girlboss" archetype. And there's nothing wrong with female characters or women in general with a tough/masculine energy. But a lot of women are not warriors or leaders - some of us have dreams of being the best wife, mother and home-maker in the world - and I feel like that dream should be just as respected/celebrated. Idk, I just wish modern media didn't shy away from portraying that side of women a bit more

Rhetorical Thrill

I don't think I've seen this one since the Disney film class I took in college. Crazy how well it holds up.

Ali D

Looking forward to you catching Peter Pan, because then you can watch Hook! 😄 It’s nice to have a smattering of joyful Robin Williams to watch!

Sarah Marion

So it costed Disney about $1.5 million ($33 million in today’s money) and three years to make Snow White and the movie grossed about $8 million ($179 million) coupled that with a specially designed academy award with 7 miniature statues and the praise of Charlie Chaplin and Surgi Eisenstein and you got yourself a success story. It wasn’t until after he made Fantasia that he was faced with potential bankruptcy. That’s why he cut costs and laid off alot of animators during the production of Dumbo. Thanks for reading my ramblings, tuition is due next week!

melissa.xoxo

I was so scared of the queen in her witch form when I was younger

Rebecca

Hey Oscar, totally random, but have you heard of the commentary channel Razzle? I just thought of them cos they watched this movie about a year ago. They do drunk reactions and they're totally not PG, but they're HILARIOUS

Maike_Staytiny

I personally don't really like this movie😅even as a child i couldn't stand the characters talking in rhyme the whole time i thought it was so annoying, but it's still a classic and from time to time watching it can be fun, watching it with others together definitely is more fun so i really enjoyed your reaction, and you basically guessing the most common fan theory in the end of snow-white being brought to heaven by the prince is so funny to me🤣

Maike_Staytiny

You should watch Bambi some time, it's also a really good classic and SO SAD😭

Rose Ellen

Cinderella is the only live-action remake worth watching imo!!

Rose Ellen

This is such a comfort movie for me. When I was sick as a kid my dad would go to the local video store (yes, this was the 90s!) and rent me a movie. It was often Snow White or Sleeping Beauty.

Lily

Super rainy day over here it’s the perfect movie night yay!!

Teej

When the evil queen goes down the stairs with her cape, that’s me with a blanket around my shoulders walking around my house. 🤣

Aleksander

Watch the new live action, lilo and stitch <3 Then you have to see Elio when it comes to Disney+!

Atticus

Please watch school of rock

Regina

You should definitely watch Enchanted with Amy Addams, i think you would really like that one, its a Disney movie as well and it has all the princess cliches but with a twist

Raven Dark

What fun getting to watch this first thing in the morning with you. A nice treat to wake up to. I can't recall if I've mentioned this before, but I highly recommend you react to the Disney movie Tangled. It's a gorgeous movie all around, and I know you'd love it.

Reagan (HookedArtist)

I had not seen this in a long time, and I was surprised by how many scenes reminded me of Bambi. I definitely recommend watching that one at some point! As for a live-action Snow White, Mirror Mirror will always be my favorite.

CoinBase Executive 7

Alright my suggestions for movies are 1. Ghost Ship (2002) starring Julianna Margulies, Gabriel Byrne and Emily Browning it's a horror/adventure movie 2. Strait-Jacket (1964) starring Joan Crawford, Diane Baker and John Anthony Hayes it's a horror/crime movie 4. Sir Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) starring Jane Leigh, Vera Miles and Anthony Perkins it's a horror/mystery movie 5. What Lies Beneath (2000) starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Harrison Ford and Diana Scarwid its a horror/mystery movie 6. Starring Barbara Luddy as the voice of Lady

Raquelly Reacts

Oh perfect! Day 8 suggesting Once Upon A Time. Mary Margret AKA Ginnifer Goodwin is my favorite live action version of Snow White so many great fairy tale characters in that show. There stories are awesome. All the stories surround Snow White.

UnKay

Yes! OMG. I actually remember so scared whrj Dopey made a noise. For some reason that freaked me the most, but the forest scene, and the queen turning to a dragoon was eek! So many kids movies had genuine scary, deep, and traumatic things, but I think it helped shape empathy and character. They don't do it like they used imo. Classics! 💖

CoinBase Executive 7

Also Oscar pretty please with a cherry on top watch the original Disney classic animated movie Cinderella (1950) I know you have already seen it based on a few times that you were referencing this movie while you were watching the live action Cinderella movie (2015). But you said that you watched Beauty and the Beast before. And you still watched it on here. So it wasn't a first time watching you know. So pretty please watch Cinderella (1950) it's such a great movie! And I would like to see your reaction even if it's not a first time watching. Your Beauty and the Beast reaction video was really great!

manon

maybe you already mentioned them if that's the case I'm sorry, but I l would love it if you react to the live action movies of beauty and the beast and Aladdin since you already saw the animated movies a while ago 🫶

Fireflye97

This was such a great reaction to watch! My recommendations (cartoon): Joseph King of Dreams The Black Cauldron Titan A.E. The Land Before Time Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (Live action): Maleficent 1&2 Ready Player One Jurassic World Dominion Battleship (especially since you saw Transformers) I recommend not watching the Snow White live action…you will have nightmares.

CoinBase Executive 7

Since Halloween is coming up soon you should totally watch and react to Disney's Halloween Treat (1982) ( animation/family)

CoinBase Executive 7

This is definitely one of my favorite Disney princess movies! Yeah I know some scenes are kinda scary but overall it's a beautiful film. Especially the ending of the movie. I like how they revamped the Snow White's scary adventures ride at Disneyland. It's pretty cool. Much cooler than it was before. I was totally stoked when I saw that Oscar uploaded this! I said hell yeah! Hopefully he'll watch Cinderella (1950) starring Ilene Woods as the voice of Cinderella next! And of course Alice in Wonderland (1951) starring Kathryn Beaumont as the voice of Alice and Lady and the Tramp (1955) starring Barbara Luddy as the voice of Lady all three are absolute Disney animated classic treasures!

CoinBase Executive 7

Also since Halloween is coming up soon Oscar watch and react to one of my favorite episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. The name of the episode that I like is called, Gentleman From America. It's a really great episode. It's about a guy from America that goes to England and he meets 2 guys and the 2 guys from England bet that the guy from America can't spend the night in a supposedly haunted room in their house. Yes you do see a ghost in this episode. Perfect for Halloween. Happy early Halloween everyone! BOO!! LOL 💀👻🎃🦇🖤🧡❤️ man Sir Alfred Hitchcock truly is The Master Of Suspense. When I first saw his shows I said wow that was a fantastic twist and a totally unexpected ending! Never seen anything so well written before! The guy truly is a genius! And incredibly talented at writing and thinking up fantastic story lines that truly shock and amazed you!

CoinBase Executive 7

Also I think Dopey is absolutely adorable. I love the way he can make his ears move back and forth. Awwww so absolutely cute and adorable. I like his interactions with Snow White. Awwww those interactions were so darling and cute. He just looks so cute and funny when he smiles too. Awww what a cute little guy he is. Just adorable. ❤️ he's my favorite dwarf. I also like how Doc always messed up his words! LoL. That always makes me laugh when he does that. I also like it when he tries to get a kiss from Snow White, she always takes his ears and turns his head downward, to kiss the top of his head instead of on the lips. That always makes me smile when I see that. So cute. Also his eyelashes make him look even cuter. I also love the fact that he's as bald as a billiard ball too.

CoinBase Executive 7

I know this movie had some scary scenes in it. But I think Snow White's sweetness. Kinda made up for that. She was incredibly kind and sweet. And she had such a GOOD HEART. She's very much like Cinderella. Extremely kind and sweet. I love her interaction with that little blue bird in the beginning of the movie. She genuinely cared about that bird and that was so sweet. And that she prayed for the Dwarfs too. That was super sweet also. I wish more people were like her and Cinderella. So sweet and loving! I wish more people in this world would have a good heart like hers

Rk Monger

I actually put off going to the movies today when I saw you had posted this. I was very interested for your insights. the one that stuck with me most was at the very end when you thought it might be heaven/she died - every though we know the story ends "and they lived happily ever after" - wouldn't that be an interesting concept to write .. (sorry my writer's mind immediately jumped to that - what an interesting world that would be ... sorry, i digress.) i agree this was actually quite dark in many places, the biggest was her flight into the forest and her imagination and fear got the best of her for a while. but of course the dwarfs had the biggest comedy bits and the animals had the 'awwwww' bits. enjoyed your reaction to this ... (by the way, there's one of the renaissance movies you missed - Pocahantas.). As for recommendations, I'd love to see your reaction to Freaky Friday (Jamie Lee Cutis and Lindsay Lohan).

Jordenne Beltrame

Some movies that would be good to react to are Freaky Friday (1976), Freaky Friday (2003), Alice in Wonderland (1951), and Maleficent.

Kimichu

yay, good old Disney again! Day 5 asking Enchanted (2007), I'm sure you'll like it! (and there are small episodes of the actress, which voiced Princess Aurora, Cinderella, Ariel and Pocahontas!)

Dylan

You need to watch the serie Once Upon A Time ! You'll love it so much ! It's based on disney characters and even more. Like their stories are told like you never imagined they would be. And the family tree is kinda crazy.

Astoria

Snow was 14 and prince Florian (yes he has a real name 😂) was 18. Oh and there's really a theory that the prince is Death because he brought her to the afterlife castle. And I hope you will watch Aristocats / Lady and Tramp soon ☺️

Tom

Still don't understand what Monica was doing keeping house in the forest. But Chandler never looked so good lol.

Tom

If you think the cartoons are scary you shouldn't read the original Grimms fairy tales. Truly horrific!

KW

Ok. As a German and since you seem like your parents didn’t read you the fairytales when you were a child, here are some parts missing or changed in the Disney adaptation. Snowwhites mother was embroidering a picture when she was pregnant with Snow White (Schneewittchen) and poked her finger with the needle and a drop of blood landed in the snow and after she was born she had skin white as snow, lips red as blood (thinking about the embroidery) and hair black as ebony and that’s how she got her name. Her mom the queen passed away and Schneewittchen got the evil queen as stepmother. Now to the apple thing. The evil queen tried to kill her first with a poisoned comb but the dwarfs came home after work and took it out and Schneewittchen woke up again. And the day after she came again with the apple after the mirror snitched on Schneewittchen again and she ate the apple like in the movie but there was no true or first loves kiss but the dwarfs put her in the glass coffin and carried her into the woods for the funeral where they also found the prince and one of the dwarfs tripped over a root and the apple flew out of snow whites throat and she wakes up.

KW

Also the princess in the froschkönig (kiss the frog) didn’t kiss the frog but threw him at the wall and that literally BROKE the spell.

James McCarthy

All people are unique but one reason Maleficient might have been having more fun and grandeur than the Evil queen is Maleficient was not human but a fairy and an old folk one as well so chaotic and sometimes malevolent but always so extra. While the evil queen is a demented obsessed human too lost in her need to win to enjoy anything. Fun enough film definitely weaker pacing but the characters are cool especially the queen.

Amy Silknitter

I tried. I did. I LOVE Sleeping Beauty. It's may favorite classic Disney animated film. But this one? I can't. I can't get into it.

Judith

I always had a problem with the story of snow white growing up. Granted, I never watched the movie, but I was told the original story. In it, the witch tried to kill snow white three times and evrythime, she fell for it! Plus the Prince was soo creepy! He came across the coffin, said she looked beautiful and just wanted to take her! The corpse! And while loading it on a carrage, it fell and the piece of apple, that snow white didnt swallow, dislodged and she woke up. Even as a kid, I thought, snow white was really stupid... Im sorry to everyone who likes this story.

LadyGreyDuck

A Snow White remake that I enjoy is Mirror Mirror (2012). I would also recommend Ever After (1998) with Drew Barrymore as a fantastic Cinderella movie.

Kitty Underwood

All fairy tales have crazy stuff like this in the original stories. If you haven't already, look up the original tale of Sleeping Beauty

Jenny Chasse

I'm sure it's been said many times...but you would probably LOVE Once Upon a Time. Turns all of the classic fairy tales upside down!

Jenny MacRunnel

I see a lot of comments giving the back story to the original Grimm's Fairy Tale. I also want to point out that this was the first animated movie in the western world I think. I believe Asia actually did it first, but it was a different time when our cultures didn't cross much. Back then, animated movies weren't made for kids like they mostly are now. It was just a new movie format, it was supposed to entertain all audiences. It was also a huge risk, if it hadn't of done well Walt might have lost his whole company. Lucky for him, it was a smash hit!

Emma Elizabeth Cook

This was Walt Disney 1st full length feature film, I'm also sure it won an academy award too? I suggest next maybe Dumbo or Bambi? :)
