That is one of the most selfless and caring things Ross has ever done for someone…top Ross moment for sure 👌 You gotta love Phoebe’s random songs. She is so unfiltered you know she’s just writing the very first thought in her mind haha The stalker episode is pure gold and I always lose it during the water to the face scene. I’m curious what you think as you see more of Joey’s acting methods he uses, given your career path 😅

Hi Oscar, sometimes I’m sad that this show aired during the 90’s because young people like you who react to the show miss special appearances. Rachel’s Mom was played by Marlo Thomas. She’s an actress who is best known for a 60’s TV show called “That Girl” She is on the board of St Jude Children’s hospital which was founded by her father, actor Danny Thomas. I don’t know how well known it is in Australia. These hospitals are known for not sending people away if they can’t afford treatment and they do telethons all the time in the States to raise money. The guy interested in Phoebe is a singer named Chris Isaak. He was really well known at the time for a song called Wicked Games. You may have heard it. That was probably why you thought he could yodel. Joey’s stalker is Brooke Shields. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of her, but she started out young as a child model and got recognition for her role in a movie called Pretty Baby when she was 12. She is also well known for The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love. She’s been in other movies and shows

Another thing I thought was interesting is that the show Joey got hired for is Days of Our Lives which is a soap opera and it just so happened that Jennifer Aniston’s father, John Aniston was on the show for 40 years. He joined the cast in the early 80’s and was on the show until he passed away about a year ago.

You're so right- the best ross moments are when he's super empathetic, him walking carol down the isle since her parents wouldn't and his dance with susan always gets me But for comedy I love chaotic ross 🤣

People have been talking about how Friends is dated and not "politically correct", and it is in some ways. But the lesbian wedding episode broke barriers when it aired in 1996. It was the third gay marriage on TV and the FIRST lesbian wedding ever on TV. But you can still see how different it is compared to today. They didn't show the ceremony and Carol & Susan didn't even kiss. But again, we have to remember that even in the 90s things were so different. Gay marriage wasn't even legalised in New York until 2011. A fun fact though is that NBC expected a flood of phone complaints for portraying a lesbian wedding but they 'only' received 11 calls. Another fun fact is that the woman officiating the wedding is Candace Gingrich, an LGBT rights activist and sister to conservative Congressman Newt Gingrich. Matthew Perry ad-libbed (as he often did) Chandler throwing water at Joey and saying he forgot to close the toilet lid. You can clearly see Jennifer Aniston can't keep a straight face in that scene. And as a soap fan myself I can tell you that people like Erica really exist. They can't seem to separate the character from the actor. I remember Larry Hagman who played J.R. on Dallas once talked about when someone came up to him on the street and shouted "J.R. how could you do this to Sue Ellen?!" It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Rachel's mom was played by "Marlo Thomas" she is a famous actress who was the daughter of "Danny Thomas" who was a famous actor in his own right who founded the world reknowned hospital "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital" which treats children for Cancer and other illnesses and do not charge the family. Free treatment, lodging for family, and meals while child is treated. Wikipedia has a page on All of them. She starred in a really successful TV comedy series of her own called "That Girl" in the late 60's, early 70's. She is 85 and still alive today. And you MIGHT already know that Erica was played by famous model/actress Brooke Shields. And was GORGEOUS back then. Guy singing with Phoebe at the end is Chris Isaak, he had a well known song "Wicked Game", among others, and did some acting as well. He was in "Silence of the Lambs" actually.

Way late to the party but I’ll add it anyway. I’ve seen people talk about Brooke Shields, Chris Issak, and Marlo Thomas but I thought I should mention 2 more. The guy at the zoo that tells Ross that Marcel died is Fred Willard who has been in so much that it’s hard to try and narrow it down to a few to write here but he was in both Austin Powers and Anchorman. And the zookeeper that tells Ross that Marcel is still alive is Dan Castellaneta. He has done quite a bit but is best known for being Homer Simpson (plus about a billion other voices).
