Earl and Frank Ocean were both killing it back in the Odd Future days. Chum and Hive are legendary tracks, and he has some absolutely insane rhyme schemes across this project that he hasn't been able to recreate quite the same way since.

Also, Earl confirmed on Twitter that Vince Staples wrote his verse for Hive in 15 minutes. The entire track took three hours to make, and Earl's verse was done in one take. Insane

Finally, if you enjoy Domo Genesis a lot then I highly recommend revisiting his feature on Tyler's CMIFGL album, as well as checking out his 2016 album Genesis!

Explanation for the second verse of "Chum" - Earl's parents sent him to a school for troubled kids in Samoa while Odd Future was lit because bruh was out of control at 15-16. He met this dude there, Tyler Craven, and they became cool. Earl's disappearance was a big deal on the internet and no one knew why Earl had left the group or that he was sent away until Craven told someone. Complex took that information and tracked down Earl. They thought they were "helping" but like he said in the song, they made his life harder. Odd Future members: Earl, Tyler, Domo, Frank, Syd, Left Brain, Hodgy Beats, Taco, Jasper, Matt Martians, and Mike G. Casey Veggies was a founding member...he went solo afterwards. Vince was never a member but Earl was his homeboy, plus Earl taught him how to rap.

yeah

been waiting so long for this!! this is a great album but I can't wait for you to get into his later stuff because he just has gotten better and better

this is one of those tapes you can appreciate listening now but hearing this when it came out was a beautiful thing. earl has such a unique way of writing (heavy doom influence) i'll always hold this project close to my heart. also seeing him live last year for the 10 year anniversary of this album was surreal s/o to anyone who was there.

Loket

think ive heard it already
