"Run for the window!" I shouted immediately as I urged Claire forward over the bed and went to follow her. Unfortunately for me, Jason was not content to just watch us get away. No, he took a knife right out of his back pocket and threw it straight at Claire.

Something which I was able to catch thanks to my years playing football. «Fuck!" I shouted as I caught it blade side and it bit into my hand, making me bleed. The pain shot up my arm like fire and blood poured between my fingers, but I did not drop it. Claire turned around with concern and fear all over her face.

"Keep running!" I told her as I followed behind her.

She scrambled across the bed toward the window, her hands shaking so bad she could barely grip the latch. Her fingers slipped twice on the old rusty lock, her breath coming in short panicked gasps. "Come on, come on," she whispered, her voice cracking as she yanked harder. The frame did not budge an inch, the whole damn thing was glued shut from years of lake humidity. She was so scared her knees knocked together and tears started spilling down her cheeks, but she kept trying, twisting and pulling with everything she had.

Since I was behind her that meant that Jason grabbed my shoulder and threw me back across the room like I weighed nothing. I slammed into the far wall hard enough to crack the cheap paneling, my six foot four frame and all that muscle from football and track doing jack shit against him. The impact knocked the wind out of me and I hit the floor in a heap. For a a guy as big as me, for him to be able to take me out like that was scary.

Jason then looked at me for a split second, his hockey mask tilting just a little like he was deciding if I was worth the trouble. Then he went straight for Claire, who was still trying to open the window, her back to him, her whole body trembling as she fought with the latch.

That meant the doorway he was blocking before was open now. I could easily run through it and escape. Get the fuck out of there. Save myself. Live to see another sunrise.

I looked between Claire and the door before shouting, "Damn it!"

I picked up the knife I dropped before and immediately rushed Jason. I got in close and grabbed his massive arm, twisting it into a lock behind his back, my knee driving hard into the back of his leg to drop him.

He did not drop.

But I stabbed him multiple times in the side, the blade sinking in deep with wet thunks, but he did not even grunt. I switched grips, yanked his wrist into a brutal arm bar, and slammed my elbow into his face twice before driving my boot into the back of his knee again, trying to force him down.

Claire turned around right then, her eyes wide as dinner plates.

"RUN!" I yelled at her.

Jason was more than strong enough to easily shake me off, but I hung on long enough that Claire managed to get out the window. He growled and twisted his whole body like a bull and I went flying again, but I had bought her those precious seconds.

She shoved the window open finally and dove through it, landing outside with a thud.

Then I got thrown to the floor hard. I got up fast and slowly backed away from Jason. He just looked at me silently, that hockey mask staring like a blank void. No breathing. No movement. Just pure evil standing there in the doorway.

As scared as I should feel right now, I felt just as equally angry. This motherfucker had killed my best friend. Tyler was gone, cut in half like meat. And Fred and Georgina too. All because of this freak in the mask. My hands shook, but not from fear anymore.

"Come get some, you ugly fuck," I snarled.

Jason came at me like a freight train. I slipped inside his reach, grabbed his wrist in a textbook CQC hold, and twisted hard, using my hip to shift his momentum and send him crashing into  the nightstand but recovered in the blink of an eye and was already swinging that machete in a wide arc.

I ducked under it and drove a knee straight into his gut, then followed with a palm strike to the underside of his mask, snapping his head back.

It bought me a half second.

I grabbed his arm again, locked it behind him, and stabbed the knife I still held into his shoulder three times. He did not bleed much, but I felt the impacts land solid. He spun and backhanded me across the chest. The force lifted me off my feet and sent me crashing into the wall again. Pain exploded in my ribs, but I rolled with it, came up, and charged again, tackling his legs in a double leg takedown.

We hit the floor hard, me on top. I rained down elbows to his masked face.

"FUCKING DIE!" I shouted as each one rattled his head. I tried to pin one his weapon with my knee. He bucked me off like I was a kid and his fist caught me in the jaw. Stars burst behind my eyes, but I held on long enough to slam my forehead into his mask, cracking it a little at the edge.

I almost threw up when his fist impacted my stomach and he lifted me up like I was a child. He threw me straight into the other room and I landed on the table breaking it. "Shit..." I groaned as I pushed myself up.

The giant killer jogged into the room and I immediately had to duck when he threw his machete straight at me. I grabbed one of the broken table legs and rushed up to him and hit him in the face twice before he caught my third strike. I grabbed his wrist with my other hand before stepping on his knee and attempting to get his arm between my legs, only he seemed to have wisened up to my move as h immediately let go and flung me off.

Over the next thirty seconds I got a few good hits in. A solid kick to his knee made it buckle for a second. I followed with a spinning back elbow that connected clean on the side of his head. But every time I landed something, he just kept coming. No stagger. No grunt. No nothing.

It was then I came to the realisation that I was nowhere even close to beating him. My intermediate CQC was the only thing keeping me alive at the moment and even now I was exhausted. He was a wall of unstoppable rage and I was running out of tricks.

So instead of fighting him again I ran out the house the first chance I got.

I bolted through the open doorway and down the hall, my legs pumping like the football field on game day. Jason came after me his heavy shaking the floor behind me, but I was way too fast. I burst out the front door into the night air, my lungs burning, legs flying over the gravel path. He chased, but I left him in the dust.

I saw Claire outside, not running, standing there frozen in the moonlight like a deer in headlights.

"What the hell are you still doing here!!!?" I shouted, still sprinting her way.

"What happened?" she shouted back in fear.

"I beat him. This is my victory lap!" I said before running past her, which made her run as she saw him exit the house right behind me.

She spun and took off beside me, her bare feet slapping the dirt. She saw my wounds and cuts and asked, "Are they bad?" her eyes wide on the blood running down my hand and the bruises blooming across my chest and face.

"Have you ever been stabbed and it's been good?" I shot back as we continued running, the trees whipping past.We kept going full sprint down the path toward the main house, my hand throbbing like hell but adrenaline keeping the pain at bay. Then I spotted something in the corner of my eye and immediately tackled Claire.

We hit the ground hard, her body under mine.

"What the hell are you doing—" she started to shout, though she stopped before she finished the sentence as she saw the bear traps on the path, hidden under a thin layer of leaves right where we would have stepped. One wrong move and it would have snapped her leg clean off.

"Oh my god," she whispered.

I helped her up fast, my cut hand leaving blood on her arm.

"We need to be careful," I said.

I grabbed her hand and immediately continued to the house, after a few minutes the main cabin loomed ahead. My heart hammered in my ears, every step sending jolts of pain through my ribs and hand, but I did not let go of her. Claire squeezed back, her palm sweaty and trembling, but she kept pace with me.

We hit the back deck and I slammed the sliding door shut behind us, locking it quick.

I leaned against the glass for a second, catching my breath, blood dripping from my fingers onto the wood floor. Claire stood beside me, her own chest heaving, her bikini top askew from the tackle, her eyes darting everywhere.

"We need to get the fuck out of here," I said. "Go get everyone right now I am going to get my keys."

She nodded fast. "Okay." Claire bolted upstairs shouting at the top of her lungs her. "Everyone wake up! We have to go now! There's a killer outside! Get up get up get the fuck up!"

I did not wait. I ran straight for the living room where I had tossed my jacket earlier. The house was a goddamn disaster zone bottles everywhere, and clothes scattered like a tornado hit a strip club. I kicked over a cooler spilling ice and cans across the floor cursing the whole time. Where the hell were my keys? I vjecked the coffee table, shoved aside a half empty bottle of tequila no luck. Dropped to my knees and started digging under the couch my bloody hand leaving smears on the cushions.

"Come on you little metal bastards where are you?" I muttered.

Finally my fingers brushed cold metal and I yanked them out hard enough to rip a seam in the fabric.

Got em.

Upstairs the chaos was already starting. Max, Maxine, Juliana and Casey came stumbling down the stairs rubbing their eyes and groaning like zombies. Max was in his trunks still scratching his balls with a lazy grin. Maxine had thrown on a loose tee over her naked body, her sleek black hair a mess. Juliana looked had put her bikini back on and looked like she had just woken up. While Casey was wide eyed in her one piece clutching the railing like it was a lifeline, her short blonde hair sticking up from our earlier fuck.

They were not taking the situation seriously at all.

Claire was shouting and almost going crazy trying to tell them. "Listen to me! A fucking killer is here! He killed the others! We have to run now before he gets here!"

Juliana laughed first this deep throaty sound that cut through the panic. "Mami you are way too drunk. Relax take a breath. It was probably just a bad dream or some shit." She plopped down on the bottom step crossing her legs.

Maxine joined in smirking as she leaned against the wall. "Yeah Claire chill out. You sound like you're on a bad trip. Pass the vodka we can change that."

Max even started rolling a spliff right there on the coffee table, pulling out his stash from his pocket and licking the paper. "Here this will calm everyone down. Best way to end the night."

The only one listening was Casey and she was freaked out, her face pale as a sheet of paper as her eyes darted between Claire and the door. "What do you mean dead? Oh my god..."

I slapped the spliff out of his hand before he could light it the weed scattering across the floor. "Listen to me all of you! Tyler, Fred and Georgina are dead! Sliced up like fucking deli meat! We will be too if you don't listen and get the fuck out of here right now!"

Maxine got angry fast her eyes narrowing as she stepped forward jabbing a finger at my chest. "Stop ruining my buzz with this stupid prank James! It is not funny! We are trying to have a good time. Grow up!"

'It isn't a prank there is a killer!!!' Claire cried out her voice breaking tears starting to stream down her face. "We saw the bodies! The killer is real! He is coming!"

"I did not have time for this shit, let's go," I told Claire and grabbed their hands and turned, but as I turned who else was standing in front of the sliding door.

Jason.

His hockey mask cracked and bloody from our earlier scrap, but his machete was dripping fresh blood on it. He did not move, he  just stared through the glass like

.

Claire started to cry for real now big ugly sobs shaking her body. I backed up with both of them pulling them behind me my heart slamming against my ribs. "Stay back! Don't look at him!"

Max meanwhile laughed this big dumb guffaw and walked towards the glass door. "Oh come on this is the prank? Is that you Fred? Nice costume bro but the party's over." I told him not to but he ignored me completely waving me off.

He slid the door open still chuckling and stepped right up to Jason. "Alright man joke's up take off the mask and..." Jason moved his machete swinging in a brutal arc. It caught Max across the throat first slicing deep enough that blood sprayed like a fountain his laugh turning into a wet gurgle. Max stumbled back clutching his neck, his eyes wide in shock, but Jason was not done. He grabbed Max by the hair yanked his head back and drove the blade straight through his chest twisting it hard. Bones cracked loud and Max's body jerked like a puppet before going limp. Jason pulled the machete free and let him drop in a heap blood pooling under the body.

That sobered everyone up and they all screamed high. "EVERYONE RUN!!!" I shouted to ghem, but unfortunately the girls did not follow me upstairs they ran separately scattering like roaches. Maxine bolted for the kitchen screaming for help. Juliana took off toward the back door. Only Casey and Claire were with me sticking close as we pounded up the stairs.

I ran straight upstairs and told the girls to go out the balcony way. There was a staircase out there leading down to the side yard. "Climb down and run for the cars! Do not wait for me! Go!"

They hesitated terror all over their faces. "James no come with us!" Claire shouted tears still falling.

"I will be right behind you! Move!" I shouted.

They finally turned and ran for the balcony door. Meanwhile I went in the opposite direction much to the girls terror I could hear their screams fading as they climbed down. But I had a plan. Stupid maybe but I could not just leave the others to die.

I ran to the storage room at the end of the hall, the one Tyler's dad kept locked but I knew the code. Punched it in and watched it click open. Inside shelves of camping gear tools and there the gun safe. I spun the dial loaded the combo and yanked it open. Grabbed one of the hunting rifles a Remington 700 bolt action and a box of .308 ammo. Slammed five rounds into the magazine racked one in the chamber and stuffed the rest in my pocket.

I went out and headed downstairs to try and save the other girl . When I I hit the bottom step I froze. I could see Maxine's head being crushed like a watermelon. Jason had her pinned against the kitchen counter one massive hand on her skull pressing down hard. Bones cracked loudly like gunfire and all she could do was screwm.

I looked and saw Juliana pinned to the wall with his machete. The blade was buried deep in her chest right through her heart nailing her to the wall like a fucked up painting..

I fired at Jason immediately the rifle bucking in my hands. The bullet hit him in the neck dead center blood spurting black in the dim light. He stumbled back away from Maxine dropping her body to the floor with a thud. She moaned in pain as she hit the ground trying to back away. Unfortunately Jason stepped on her head as he turned around to me, crushing what was left into pulp under his boot, the squelch turning my stomach.

I tried to reload quickly, ejecting the spent casing and slamming the bolt forward but my hands shook and I dropped a few bullets they clattered to the floor rolling under the couch. "Fuck fuck come on." I got one in fired again the shot cracking loud and slamming into his shoulder spinning him half around. He stumbled back blood leaking from the holes but he kept coming like the wounds were mosquito bites.

"Die you fuck!!!" I shouted firing again the bullet grazing his mask chipping off a piece. But he kept coming. I rushed away backing toward the front door stepping over Max's body my shoe slipping in the blood. But my eyes widened as I saw the other girls on the stairs.

Why were they here!

Claire and Casey were frozen halfway down staring at the carnage with their mouths open in horror.

They should have escaped already. "What the fuck are you doing! Run!" I yelled but it was too late.

Jason saw them and pulled his machete from Juliana with a wet suck letting her flop to the ground in a heap. He ignored me completely and chased them, lumbering up the stairs his bulk shaking the whole railing. The girls screamed and tripped over themselves as they tried to run, but Claire's foot caught on Casey's and they both went down in a tangle arms and legs.

"Fucking hell!!!" I yelled before I rushed up the stairs after him. I leaped the last few steps and jumped on his back using the rifle to choke Jason wrapping it across his throat like a garrote and pulling back hard. My weight yanked him off balance and we both fell down the stairs tumbling ass over elbows, the wood cracking under us. His full body weight slammed into me at the bottom crushing the air from my lungs.

When we got to the bottom I tried to fight him again, scrambling to my knees with my rifle still in hand. He rose up like a demon and I drove the butt into his gut hard then swung it like a bat cracking it across his mask. The wood splintered but he grabbed the barrel yanked it from my grip and tossed it aside like trash. I went in with CQC kicking his leg then grabbing his arm, I twisted it into a lock and drove my knee into his side three times fast each hit landing l on ribs.

He did not budge. I followed with a palm strike to his throat then an elbow to the temple spinning to hook his leg and drop him. But he was too strong. He lifted me with one hand, his fingers like iron around my throat squeezing the life out of me. My feet left the ground kicking uselessly as I uselessly punched him and hit him.

I couldn't escape.

He stabbed me repeatedly, the machete plunging into my gut once, twice, three times,  agony ripping through me and my blood pouring out fast. Each thrust felt like fire twisting deep my insides before turning to mush. I gasped out a wet and choking sound in my mouth. As I struggled to breath; Jason stabbed me one last time for good measure he then threw me to the ground like garbage. I tried to crawl, my hand pressing the wounds but blood just gushed between my fingers.

I could hear the screams of the other girls in the background but soon it all started to drown out as mg eyes closed.

For what I can only is the last time.

(AN: So it looks like James has died. RIP. Hope you enjoyed the story guys I guess I'll see you around.)

Sir Saucalot

Was this whole thing like a short series?

Captainalfie78 Works

If you know what his Shining ability is and if you recognise who Claire is you’ll understand what is happening. But in short no it’s not a short series.

Dragonslayer29

Thanks for the chap and wonder what’s going to happen to him now that he died. I know what the shining is be I’m curious what he’s going to get.

Captainalfie78 Works

I’ll give you a hint and basically say anyone in this series who has a supernatural power basically has the shining, including Jason to an extent. But yeah I’ve left a few hints on what’s going to happen next chapter.

Joanny Hernandez

Wait he's having a premonition of his death but when did it start

Dragon Cross

I hope we get more of this this week
