BIG Changes to Our Patreon in 2024 — Please Read! (Patreon)

Hello, patrons!

As we near the end of the year, we wanted to announce some BIG changes to the Patreon and what you can expect in 2024!

First off, we can’t thank each and every one of you enough for your support here on Patreon. Thanks to your continuous support, we’ve been able to explore projects that would otherwise have been impossible. We're excited that by the end of 2023 we'll have made 50 issues of Big Bads and completed all 4 seasons of Floral Dragons! We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many talented writers and artists, and we’re so grateful to all our patrons for making these projects possible.

We have lots to tell you about the upcoming changes, and we’re sure you’ll have questions—check out the details below!

What are these Big Changes? Humblewood is Coming!

In 2024, we will still be releasing 5e content every month, but it’s going to look a little different. Starting in January 2024, our Patreon is shifting exclusively to brand-new content for our much-anticipated release of Humblewood 2!

Humblewood 2: Beyond the Canopy is the upcoming sequel to our award-winning campaign setting, Humblewood, featuring birdfolk and other forest critters fighting to save their woodland home. Humblewood 2 will take players beyond the forest canopy, exploring exciting new areas with new locations, creatures, subraces, subclasses, and much more in the world of Everden. The team has been hard at work behind the scenes, and now we want to invite you inside the development process.

What Content Can You Expect?

Each month, we will release one PDF of 5e alpha playtest content alongside behind-the-scenes info such as Q&As, interviews, design notes, and more, which will be posted throughout the month. There will also be brand new mini STLs and chances to vote on what gets sculpted!

Playest content will include:

New races and subraces

New location information

New lore

New monsters and NPCs

Concept art

A brand new class!

We will also be sharing lots of behind-the-scenes content like Q&As, discussions with artists, game design notes, our inspirations, and more!

How are the Tiers Changing?

There will still be three tier levels. The rewards for these tiers will be:

Bronze Tier $5

Monthly PDF of new Humblewood playtest content

Exclusive behind-the-scenes content here on Patreon

Access to our Humblewood 2 development Discord channel

Ability to vote on new minis and other content

Silver Tier $10All of the content from the Bronze Tier plus:

An STL of a brand new Humblewood mini every month! Expect monsters, heroes, and more!

Gold Tier $15If you back us at this tier, you are going above and beyond, and we are so grateful!In addition to all the content from the Bronze and Silver tiers, you’ll also receive:

Acknowledgement by name in the digital version of the Humblewood 2 book

Platinum Tier $20We’re going to reopen our $20 tier in 2024 for new patrons. If you are a patron at this tier, you will receive everything from the Gold tier plus:

How are Releases Changing?

Starting this month, you will have access to all the Patreon content dating from January 2023 when you join. This will continue in 2024. Content will be released throughout each month, and as long as you are a patron, you’ll have access to it and all the Humblewood content on our Patreon.

Can I still Get Physical Rewards?

No, we are not planning to release any of the Humblewood playtest content physically. The last physical booklet will be issue 50 of the Big Bads, which will be sent out in January 2024 to anyone who is a backer at a physical tier at the end of December 2023.

What if I Have Feedback on the Playtest Content?

We look forward to Patrons testing out this new content, and a huge part of that is inviting your feedback!

We’ll provide you with feedback forms so you can give us your thoughts on the playtest content you receive. We’ll also welcome your thoughts and opinions on our Discord. We want this to be an interactive experience where we can work together to physically make Humblewood 2 the best it can be.

We are also planning to use polls so that you can help shape Humblewood 2: Beyond the Canopy and the content that appears on the Patreon even more!

When Do These Changes Start?

These changes will start in January 2024. We still have this month's Floral Dragons plus two more fantastic issues of Big Bads for you, taking us through to the end of December 2023.

What About Big Bads & Floral Dragons?

Though Big Bads and Floral Dragons are leaving Patreon at the end of the year, we are still hard at work on some awesome new content for 2024. So be sure to keep an eye out for more from Big Bads and Floral Dragons in the future ;)

What if I Backed Humblewood on Kickstarter?

When our Humblewood Kickstarter campaign successfully closed at just over $1 million, we promised backers that they would have access to Humblewood 2 alpha playtest content and production previews. We intend to honor that promise!

Humblewood Kickstarter backers will also receive the PDF playtest content through Backerkit as it’s released. Other rewards, such as mini STLs and the extra behind-the-scenes content, will be exclusive to Patreon.
