Life is an endless series of challenges. We emerge from our eggs fully formed and forced onto assembly lines manufacturing imperial armor, jettisoned thousands of lightyears away from home to conquer entire systems, stuck in dead end fast food jobs with hostile customers throwing food and insults daily. We’re expected to smile through it all and be grateful for the opportunity to be apart of such a “glorious” empire. Despite the circumstances we find ourselves in, we manage to find little pockets of joy. Satisfaction in a job well done, learning new languages, indulging in unhealthy yet tasty discounted meals. When people usually write about living under an oppressive regime, they often follow it with some call to action, to make your voice heard and enact intergalactic change. I honestly have stopped caring. If anything, this is a call to survival. This is a call to take one more step to make it one more day. Fuck changing the world. Change yourself. Love yourself. Find your happiness when you can and where you can. It like all things pass with time. One day you will find yourself in a new place with new challenges and a soul strong enough to take one more step. To stay one more day. It gets easier. You have to do it every day. That’s the hard part but it does get easier.
