I really enjoyed the beach episode for the characterization and development. It was such a great way to humanize the enemy, and I’m hoping we see some of these characters change their ways down the line.

As for Episode 6? Absolutely MIND-BLOWING! Looks like the rotten side really does come from the father...

Drop your thoughts and enjoy the reaction!

Z’Man

What that man did was called Combustionbending, a form of Firebending and one of the most powerful Bending forms. It’s a specialized, extremely rare, form of firebending in the Avatar universe. It involves channeling chi through the forehead, often marked by a third-eye tattoo, to create a concentrated beam of explosive energy. This beam detonates upon contact with a surface, causing significant destruction.

I don't believe it was within Sozin's power to cause a natural disaster like that. Nor do I believe it was his intention to kill Roku when he first came. I truly believe that Sozin came to help his old friend, but when Roku collapsed he was presented with an opportunity to rid himself of the one thing standing in his way. And he chose... poorly. On a less depressing note, Sud, Roku's Earthbending Master, is the Earthbender who appears in silhouette in the opening. He's also modeled after Toph's original design. See, originally Toph was supposed to be a buff dude, but the creators thought it would be funnier if they him a blind little girl instead. And they were right.

Roronoa Zoro

At the very least i don’t think sozin could’ve done that without the power of the comet which was still about 12 years away at the time of roku’s death

Anriku

That makes more sense. I was just working through what I just watched. Zuko making bad choices just like Sozin.

Roronoa Zoro

Funny enough zuko accidentally saved his own ass by sending that mercenary. Cause if that messenger hawk got to the fire nation then everyone would know that aang was alive and Zuko would’ve lost everything

Roronoa Zoro

Honestly I don’t think azula smirked for anything sinister while zuko was on his tangent. I think she knew from the beginning that he’d never be satisfied even if he had everything he wanted. She has to understand people in order to manipulate them and she knows zuko better than anyone else

Anriku

What was the smirk for then? I personally think it had ill intent. She seemed to enjoying his anguish.

Roronoa Zoro

I think she expected everything he said. She also probably thinks that the potential survival of aang is also what troubling him. So she probably does enjoy watching him suffer. Especially since she played a direct hand in giving him what he wants. Probably even expected him to confirm her suspicions about aang too

Anriku

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was getting at. Azula’s evil, and she was reveling in his suffering.

Anriku

True. Guess that little charade of “honor” gets to drag on a bit longer.

Anriku

Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.

Great reaction to a pair of awesome episodes. You can really see how messed up this fire nation group is that none of them can connect to teenagers outside of royalty. Now you know why Roku blames himself, at least partially, for the war starting. It’s sad how two best friends fell apart because of their destinies and even sadder that Sozin used one vulnerable moment to get rid of Roku. Their first duel as teens foreshadowed this, Sozin beat Roku by getting him to trip on a tree branch.

Anriku

Dirty fighter Sozin!
