​I just wanted to provide some quick context on the original Kamen Rider V3 (1973) story. ​In the very first episode of Kamen Rider V3, the main character, Kazami Shiro, accidentally witnesses a murder committed by the evil organization, Destron. Because he was a witness, Destron hunts him down and murders his entire family (his father, mother, and sister) just to silence him. ​Consumed by grief and pure rage, Shiro tries to get revenge by attacking a Destron base all by himself. He's just a normal guy, so he's easily overpowered and left mortally wounded, literally on the brink of death. ​Kamen Riders 1 and 2 find him. The only way to save his life from those severe injuries was to take him to an old base belonging to Shocker (the organization they had already defeated) and use its technology to perform reconstructive surgery on him. ​This operation is what turned him into Kamen Rider V3. The most tragic part is that Riders 1 and 2 really didn't want to do it. They hated the idea of turning another person into a cyborg (a "modified human"), but it was the only choice they had to save Shiro's life. ​Just a note: Shocker was indeed defeated in Kamen Rider 1971 series. Any appearances they make in much later series are best seen as taking place in a alternate continuity.
