Batman really needs to step in and deal with those bullies, but I’m glad Billy got out of that situation. Loved the Captain Marvel focus here… now I’m curious if Black Adam is going to pop back up during the Starro conflict!

Drop your thoughts below and enjoy the ride!

Doctor Sivana and Black Adam are essentially Captain Marvel’s two greatest enemies, one encompassing science and the other magic. Both are very old, debuting in 1940 and 1945 respectively. Black Adam’s origin is pretty on point here, nothing much else to say. Dr Sivana is the classic mad scientist archetype and the comic to screen transition is basically 1:1 here lmao. His origins vary slightly, but for the most part he’s just a wicked, evil genius who demands respect for his shunned scientific theories. His family is a real part of the comics and he has more than just these two children, all of them enemies of the entire Shazam family. Mark Strong played Doctor Sivana in 2019’s Shazam, aided by the Seven Deadly Sins (network rules wouldn’t allow for the word sin or certain ones in particular to be mentioned in this show).

It's worth noting that Captain Marvel wasn't originally a DC character. He was the property of the now defunct Fawcet Comics. Long story short, DC sued Fawcett, claiming that Captain Marvel was just a ripoff of Superman. And although Fawcett won the lawsuit, they went bankrupt a short time later and DC bought the rights to the character in the 1960s. Captain Marvel was officially retconned into the DC Universe during the Silver Age.

Didn’t Marvel also go after DC over the name “Captain Marvel,” which is why he ended up being called Shazam later on?

Ah, so it was the 7 deadly sins. I thought so. Could've sworn that's what it was in the movie, so it threw me off.

Yeah, that happened too. It's total BS
