As promised, it’s officially time to jump into Star Wars: The Clone Wars!

I’ll admit, it’s been forever since I deeply dived into Star Wars lore, so I definitely mixed a few things up in this first one. But man... it felt absolutely GREAT to return to this era. I used to be heavily into SW when I was younger, and stepping back into it completely brought back that magic.

This is going to be one incredible journey. Drop your thoughts in the comments below, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!

So excited to see you finally watching this. I’ll try to point out any important info and lore per episode that you might not remember or should know. - Admiral Wullf Yularen is indeed the narrator or the series and is a major figure in the Republic Navy. His character actually original appeared all the way back in ‘Episode 4: A New Hope’, where he appeared in the big wig meeting attended by Vader, the older man in the white uniform. At that point, he had resigned as a navy admiral and become a colonel in the Imperial Security Bureau following the transition from the Republic to the Empire. - The clone army’s home planet is Kamino. The Kaminoans are still making fresh batches of troops for the Republic. - The Battle of Christopsis takes place approximately 2-4 months since the war began with the First Battle of Geonosis (yes, first 🤫) in ‘Attack of the Clones’, and Anakin has since been promoted to Jedi Knight. Obi-Wan also became a permanent Jedi Council member a few months into the war after the events of the ‘Brotherhood’ novel’. - It should be remembered that there were approximately 10,000 Jedi at the time of the Clone Wars, all fighting in the war, which was happening simultaneously all around the galaxy. We’re only following a select handful of individuals, small cogs in a much larger machine. - A very elementary rundown of the Republic Army is as follows: two fireteams (lead by corporals) make up a squad, lead by a sergeant. Four squads make a platoon, lead by a lieutenant. Four platoons make a company, lead by a captain. Four companies make a battalion, lead by a battalion commander. Four battalions make a regiment, also led by regimental commander. Four battalions make a legion, lead by a clone senior commander. Finally, four legions make a corps, lead by clone marshal commander (the highest rank an individual clone can achieve). All of these are typically led by a Jedi general. - For clarity on Rex and Cody’s positions specifically: Rex is the Captain in charge of Torrent Company of the 501st Legion (though the show makes Rex out to also be the commander of the legion, reporting directly under Anakin Skywalker, who is general of the 501st). Rex gets portrayed with a lot more authority than he actually has simply for rule of cool, but just know he’s actually the bottom tier of commanding officers. Cody, on the other hand, is all the way at the top. Yes, he does personally take command of the 212th Battalion (who frequently worked alongside the 501st legion, hence the chumminess between Cody and Rex, as well as the 104th Battalion), but Cody’s actually rank is clone marshal commander. He is all the way at the top with others of said rank and commands the entire 7th Sky Corps, serving directly under Master Kenobi himself (tragically, Cody is the one who tried to kill Obi-Wan on Utapau in ‘ROTS’). - Asajj Ventress first appeared and met Anakin and Obi-Wan in the previously mentioned novel, ‘Brotherhood’. She is not a Sith, as you correctly assumed due to the rule of two. She is an assassin trained in the way of the dark side of the force, an apprentice to Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus. This is in the same vein as how Palpatine/Darth Sidious trained Darth Maul as his apprentice, despite the fact his own mentor, Darth Plagueis, was still alive during the events of ‘TPM’. Basically, Palpatine/Darth Sidious and Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus are the only two Sith, with anyone else like them simply being dark side users, the same way that not every light side user is a Jedi. They’re titles/orders, not practices.

I love the writing in this series and I love how into it you already are. You ever read the Thrawn Trilogy? The OG one from the 90s? Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command. Why couldn't Disney have adapted those into a Trilogy?

KrakenKing

Tbf, Thrawn is still a highlight character in terms of how he was reintegrated from Legends. He’s a very formidable character.

This is where the fun begins

Anriku

Unfortunately I never read those. Only books I read the were the New Jedi Order books and what I learned through KOTOR, etc.

JD Dumas

Fair enough. But if you ever have the chance, you should check them out. Them, and any books related to Abeloth or the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Anriku

I loved the Yuzhan Vong in the New Jedi Order books. Shame Disney pushed it to Legends.
