- Akira Kurosawa was a legendary Japanese director and pioneer filmmaker whose worked influenced Japanese and global cinema methods forever. He made over 30 films during his career, including Throne of Blood, Ran, Yojimbo, Ikiru, Rashomon, The Hidden Fortress, and, arguably most infamously, Seven Samurai. He passed away in 1998. - The episode was dedicated entirely to Kurosawa as he was one of George Lucas’s greatest inspirations and favorite filmmakers. ‘Bounty Hunters’ is specifically a homage to Seven Samurai, in which villagers hire seven masterless samurai to defend their village against bandits, then training the villagers to defend themselves. Embo, the bounty hunter with the dish hat, is particularly ronan coded. - Another Kurosawa-inspired episode will be ‘Lightsaber Lost’, inspired by the film ‘Stray Dogs’.

This is one of those episodes that I always forget about until I rewatch the series and then I go "Damn, this is awesome! How did I forget this one?" Also, the village leader is voiced by Greg Baldwin, who you may remember as Iroh's VA in Avatar Season 3, after the unfortunate death of Mako.

A lot of these single episode stories really do hit harder than most people remember.

Looks like Lightsaber lost comes up soon. Around 7 episodes from now. I look forward to it after seeing this one.
