I think Minerva didn't want Emilia to turn around or look at her because she might've recognized her mother from when she little. She was also acting like she was sad that she didn't care about her biological mother any more, but also happy that she moved on and made Fortuna her mother. Last episode in the second trial it was also implied that Archi might have been Emilia's biological brother, and he has blonde hair like Minerva where Emilia has silver hair like her father and aunt. Minerva also seems to be the only one among the witches who genuinely cares about trying to help people and make the world a better place... like Emilia. This one is weaker but when Fortuna died she also said her sister-in-law would be furious with her, and Minerva is the witch of wrath haha. The part at the end where Emilia asks a question by saying "hey witch" is also telling, emphasizing that she's talking to some stranger. I think this is why Minerva is struggling to keep it together in general, because she is a stranger to her daughter but then she becomes excited when Emilia says she wants to come back and meet the witches. I get the feeling she wants to be involved in Emilia's life, but feels she has no right to start the process herself since she wasn't there for her when she was growing up -- she wasn't her "real mother". This could all be a red herring, but there are a lot of signs that Minerva is Emilia's biological mother.

There is only one Problem and that is, that the Witches died or were killed 400 Years before the Story started. And Emilia was born 116 or 117 Years before the Story started. She was roughly 93 Years frozen in the Ice, until the Ice melted and let her out around 7 Years before the Story started ( before Subaru came into the World) Its a Fact that Most of the Witches are Humans, but even Tappei Nagatsuki didnt give any new Informations regarding Emilias Mother, or how and why Minerva knew her. ( He is in that Regard really like the Author of Attack on Titan)

Garfield vs Elsa fight was just epic and the music going on at the end when they are biting each other...masterpiece =) I think there is importance to the reason why we aren't shown Echidna's face, Emilia didn't even know who was in the glass coffin, but clearly had Echidna's clothes. So either it's a fake body there or Echidna's face looks totally different in reality vs tea party world? Well saying season 1 was weaker is pointless as it was prologue till episode 18, so we only got the main story going for 6-7 episodes. It was just one big introduction to the show, I think season 2 was finally the story moving forward and showing us the past of all main characters in the show with Subaru and for Subaru to accept his past too so he can move forward to become a hero.

I hear you but I don't really think it's pointless. Its an opinion on how I feel when it comes to the two seasons.
