I think Lelei is my favorite character so far and I believe that other country was China, right? The one planning to infiltrate the special region. I'm excited to see how this all unfolds.

season 2 is basically a part 2, it directly continues.

Dude, just you wait. It just keeps getting better and better. You may even want to do multiple episodes of this show a week. :)

"Season 2," as you may know by now, is not an actual sequel season but rather the second cour, the second half of GATE that aired 2 or 3 full seasons of anime after the first half aired, and you will likely notice there's not much "time lag" inbetween 12 and 13 that would indicate a clear break... the first (and only) season of GATE is 24 total episodes sold together in Blu-ray/DVD combos. (I speak with confidence as I was confused back while this was airing and I was reviewing it myself~)

...Oh no, the weeb disease has infected even fantasy races like elves, as seen by Tuka's father who was straight up "Naruto Running" for a few seconds, bow in hand, before jumping up the treehouse... MEN, TO ARMS, WE MUST NOT LET THIS OUTBREAK OF WEEBNESS SPREAD TO OTHER FANTASY FOLKS!

Sure, I do understand your surprise at how quick an actual military base was constructed on Alnus Hill by the JSDF, it's a reasonable reaction, but I will say that Japanese infrastructure's nothing to scoff at... they are, in the simplest terms, crazily efficient about construction... if anyone's curious, search up videos/photos of them building "temporary roads" to circumvent areas for various reasons, then work fast to clear the original back for suitable use!

Damn it, I can't help but love how much of a "good guy" Itami, our MC, truly is when it counts... Sure, he's a dork and an otaku devoted to his hobbies over work, but he purposefully rode the line between insubordination and obedience to regulations just so the refugees wouldn't get abandoned, AND have a significantly higher chance at being welcomed onto the base.. He is definitely a "goddamn liar" in the words of Lieutenant Yanagida! XD

Countries value resources & their own success above all else, so it makes sense that it was only a matter of time until other nations started to interfere with Japan's recon/assimilation of the "Special Region," because it is very much a contest of "whoever has the most resources wins" in the world of politics, which this swings heavily in Japan's favor... love how it's incorporated into a (unique) isekai story~
