My Next Game....FLEMAGOTCHI (Patreon)

Hey folks! Happy Monday~ I am writing up a quick post announcing my next game. before halloween hits and im basically forced to make cute spooky stuff all month, I'm seeing if I can squeeze in onnneeee more game. It has to be something I can make in a few days, unique enough to challenge me somewhat, and fun for fans.

And that game is FLEMAGOTCHI

using the mechanics of a pet sim, I'm experimenting with the idea of gamifying a person's journey of gradually evolving from a funny person to a standup comedian. And as the individual mascot, I chose comedian Chris Fleming, who I am a fan of, and I hope is the least likely to sue me for this.

Anyway, here's a quick mockup I did of the layout in photoshop, as well as most of the assets for the game. Someone on stream asked my what my game design process was for these small games, and I shared that basically drawing up the UI is the game design process, since most of my games are single-window experiences. Just by allocating where everything goes, I am pretty much deciding how it works as well .

The idea is that you have trapped comedian chris fleming in a pet sim (im noticing a theme of boys being trapped in my games lately... concerning?) And you help him in his comedy career by matching occasional ideas together to build material (the duck bar). When you have gathered enough material, you can do some standup. depending on whether the set goes well or not, comedian chris fleming will gain happiness points and experience. And your goal is to get him to level 10 in experience. Comedian chris fleming will try to run away if you don't keep him happy, and you lose all your progress. This means keeping an eye on him and his ideas, giving him new clothes, boba, and enrichment are crucial.

And that's the game! As you can see, most of the UI assets are done. tomorrow I'm going to finish them up and start porting them over to gamemaker. I'm crossing my fingers for a quick turnaround.

This weekend, believe it or not, I went to see comedian Benny Feldman do some standup. He is famous for his one liners, and there was, I shit you not, an entire segment he did on one-liners for bugs! bugs!!! less than 48 hours after I published bug boy summer. So I wanted to share one more bug joke with you, all credit to him of course.

I saw a ladybug recently with no spots on its back...must've been laundry day.
