Jake walked through the forest as he often did. He lived in a rural area full of forests and fields with not many people around. The lack of humans was compensated with a lot of diverse fauna.

The man didn’t mind it, as it often was with people – They get used to things. Only problem Jake had were the wild rabbits living practically everywhere. Whether it was a forest or the fields, it only depended on the species.

As much as rabbits were cute, they were also pests to many people living in the farmlands. Jake tried not to pay too much attention to the rabbits, but he had a farm of his own and had to do what was best for it. The rabbits multiplied fast too, which was problematic. Though sometimes Jake pondered whether he wasn’t actually a pest to the rabbits. The rabbits lived peacefully and freely everywhere and humans began to multiply and cover the entire planet with their influence and will to make everything easy and accessible for themselves…

With thoughts like this in his head Jake stumbled upon a strange sight. In the clearing of the forest that he just stumbled upon was a strange ring made of mushrooms of all sorts. The sun was shining onto it and the sight was fantastical.

Jake wondered about one thing though – Did somebody create that spot intentionally or was it nature’s wonder? The area was peaceful, people were simple, but productive – So who would waste time on creating a mushroom ring in the middle of the forest?

Besides, as Jake approached the ring, he saw more details in it. There were weird scribblings in the dirt and a few tiny bones that looked as if they belonged to some animal. Jake was confused and curious at the same time, he made a few more steps and entered the ring.

It was a mistake, it felt like a mistake for some reason. A strange and almost magical gust of air hit Jake and he yelped when he almost lost balance. The man failed to notice as his body began to throb, itch and ache in places. His clothes started to get loose on his frame all of the sudden.

“What the heck? What’s happening, why do I abruptly feel so weird…?” – The confused man muttered and instinctively grabbed his jeans feeling them start to slide off him. His entire body was becoming leaner, more agile as fat was diminishing and muscles were strengthening inside of his silhouette.

The shrinking continued and Jake gasped when he made a step and went out of his shoe just like that. He was shrinking altogether and by now his feet were so small that his shoes weren’t able to hold onto them. It shocked the man, he stumbled in place and in a matter of seconds his socks flew off his morphing extremities.

Jake stared at his feet, the bones in them began to elongate and force him to gradually shift his balance to his tiptoed. His toenails started to elongate, curve and sharpen. “Oh my God, m-my… What the fuck’s happening to me?!” – Jake yelled out in dread as he saw his toes pop into a strange alignment that made his feet look increasingly like a pair of hind paws of some animal.

Since his feet changed like that Jake took a glance at his hands, they too were popping at their joints and shifting into a pair of paws. The digits started to shorten and all Jake was able to do was stare in disbelief as his fingers became useless. His fingernails started to grow out into sharp claws similar to those on his feet.

“Somebody heeeelp! I- I’m… I’m turning into a freaking animal…! I can’t believe it, b-but its real… Oh God it’s real… Ah!” – Jake groaned as he was forced to arch his back. His vertebrae began to pop and his posture was becoming more feral.

He dropped his jeans when his hands fully reformed into those strange paws. Jake looked down and only now realised – His trousers were bizarrely big. The changing man looked around and noticed how the bushes around grew with each passing second, while his perspective kept getting closer to the ground.

“No, no, no. I’m shrinking…! Somebody help, I- I can’t become a simple animal!” – Jake kept shouting and looking around for any signs of help incoming, but he wasn’t bold enough to move himself as the transformation was too distracting. He was now the size of a cat if not smaller. His shirt was too much of a problem and so Jake just let it slide off him.

That’s when he noticed it. His chest hair was gone, replaced by something fluffy and lighter coloured – Fur. Jake touched it with his paw and his leg twitched in pleasure. The fur was so soft and pleasant, but the realisation that he grew it threw him into a higher panic mode.

The light brown and white fur was spreading and enveloping his entire body. If not for the fur the man would be completely naked now. “Wait… Oh no…” – Jake squeaked with his increasingly higher and animalistic voice and looked down at his groin.

His manhood was shrinking and reforming into something fit for the species he was becoming. The tip of his shaft became sharper, the entire length became thinner and shorter. His ballsack was now fully enveloped in fur instead of pubic hair.

Jake shook his head in disbelief and confusion – He didn’t even know what kind of animal he was becoming, it was hard to tell. Until now, because he felt a strange weight to his ears. They weren’t heavy, but they did feel heavier than they were previously. They have started to elongate significantly. They repositioned on the Jake’s head and began to grow erect on it until they gained the shape that explained everything.

Jake touched his changed ears and he realised that they were the ears of a rabbit. Jake squeaked in distress and realised the truth that he was becoming a rabbit like those on his own fields. Was it because he trespassed into the forbidden part of the forest? Or this strange circle specifically?

Suddenly Jake’s improved hearing caught a sound of wings fluttering. A red glowing apparition flew into Jake’s field of vision. Jake gasped as he realised that the flying being was actually a fairy. He thought fast and decided to beg for his life while he was still able to speak. “Y-You’re a fairy! I- Please, I beg you. Stop the changes. I can’t become a rabbit! I’ll do anything…!” – Jake squeaked and felt how his ribcage began to painfully reshape and the changes started moving higher towards his vocal chords.

The fairy chuckled and booped Jake’s nose which immediately triggered its changes. It shrank and became more triangular and twitchy. “Silly human. You don’t have a say in this. This is the kindest retribution I could provide you with. I’ll tell you something that may make you feel better. You’re not the first or the last human that will meet this fate…” – The fairy said and hugged Jake’s neck.

“What? Nh-yeeek. Yik! Hyeeek…!” – Jake squeaked, this time his voice deteriorated into rabbit noises completely as his neck began to plump up and sprout fur. “Oh hush already darn you! There’s no going back now. You humans will not be allowed to further taint the nature.” – The fairy said and landed next to Jake to watch the rest of his transformation.

Jake fell down onto all fours and stared at his arms, which began to reform into fore legs. His actual legs have changed too and transformed into a pair of strong lagomorphic hind legs. In the meantime the man’s chest continued to compress and become rounder. The distance between Jake’s altering hips and his reforming shoulders was lowering.

His hips compressed and legs were brought closer together into their new positions. His shoulder blades rotated and made his fore legs less manageable as they shrank a bit. Jake’s eyes widened when he felt a pressure rise in his tailbone.

He managed to look back and see as his tailbone unfurled from his rear and formed a short, stubby tail. It instinctively tucked backwards and into the iconic rabbit position as light fur began to grow out of it. Jake winced when he felt his digestive track alter. He didn’t dare to think about the complex workings of his new anatomy yet.

Jake blinked pitifully at the fairy. His vision started to change as his eyes gradually became beadier. His body finally stopped shrinking, when it reached the size of a common rabbit. The light brown and white fur slowly reached its full length and covered the most of Jake’s body by now.

The fairy approached trembling Jake and patted him on the head. With each touch Jake felt unpleasant sensations in his skull as it began to alter and shrink his brain into a smaller shape. The fairy then grabbed Jake’s cheeks like a stereotypical auntie.

Almost instantly Jake’s face started to throb and hurt as it began to push out into a snout. As it did Jake’s eyes were forced to move more to the sides of his head. Whiskers pierced Jake’s altering cheeks and his nose keeps twitching anxiously.

Jake closed his eyes feeling his dentition alter along with his entire face. His incisors began to thicken and lengthen, while all of his other teeth were forced backwards in his oral cavity. The last changes washed over the befuddled rabbit-turned man and he was finally able to take a breather.

“See? Was it all that bad…?” – The fairy asked Jake, who almost instantly backed away from her. “Pff, it was a rhetorical question. I should have wiped your brain, you wouldn’t look at me like that. Now begone! I have to prepare this spot for another human… What animal should I turn them into… Maybe fox for balance, or…” – The fairy went on with her speech, but Jake didn’t wait to hear all of that as he broke into a run.

It was so hard for him to acknowledge the fact that he became a critter. He almost fell over his strange, long feet because he forgot he had to run like an actual rabbit now. Which was more of hopping around than running in the human sense.

Still, Jake’s new body was made for that. It practically taught him how to live and Jake felt like he had under-mind instincts that helped him hop efficiently. As he ran he looked around and his ears twitched and moved to sense potential danger. It was scary and outlandish to have been turned into a rabbit and now just living on. Without a way to cry out for help. Jake’s ears folded backwards and he realised that there was no going back – He was a forest critter now and there would be even more animals around soon…
