Y’all definitely should watch the videos for “Creep”, “Red Light Special, “Waterfalls”, and “Diggin’ On You”. The “Waterfalls” video will provide clarity to the meaning of the song. I can’t believe my girls were broke with the success of this album.

Waterfalls (to me) is basically a warning for people to stop living fast and reckless lives. First verse is the mother that keeps praying for a child she can’t save , he won’t stop running the streets and is involved gang life, and he ends up getting killed. The second verse is about a man that is obsessed with woman and is not using protection, and doesn’t realize that she has infected him with HIV, hence the line 3 letters took him to his final resting place. Hope that helps, the video for water falls makes everything a lot clearer. Sorry for the long winded answer. 🫤

This was their 2nd album. You guys are on-to something with the "kick your game" reference. Left eye was dating her famous football player boyfriend at the time. And after a physical altercation between the two of them, she ended up burning his house down (unintentionally). She was put on probation and had to spend time in a rehab facility. She doesn't rap a ton on this album because she had to get released from the facility to be able to go to the studio and record tracks for the album. That period in her life inspired her to write "Waterfalls" and the deep meaning behind it. Those 3 letters represent the virus H.I.V. a really big epidemic back in the 80s/90s. T-Boz is the one with the short, blonde hair and the raspy voice. Chilli is the brown skin one who mainly sings. My top 3: "Red Light Special", "Switch", "Diggin On You". That bass on the Crazy Sexy Cool interlude is crazy though! Busta and Lisa's energy on the same song was a duo that I didn't know I needed! 🔥

Also Left Eye’s inspiration for her waterfalls rap came from when she was leaving the halfway house. She was sent there after burning down her ex’s house (football player Andre Rison) so you’ll be able to pick up the clues in her verse

This was the around the time a lot of people were d*ing because of s*xually transmitted diseases such as H*V and the discrimination the lgbtq community was facing at the time. Also, the song and video touches on substance abuse and body dysmorphia too as well as g*n crime (lol sorry had to censor myself)

My fave 90s girl group YESGAWDDD, So its T(T-Boz/the cool) L(Left -Eye -r.i.p-/the crazy) C (Chilli/ the sexy) hence the name of their gorup/the album (beautiful women) .. Chilli is usually singing and also the vocal point of the chorus, left eye always is raps and TBoz (starts most songs) does a mixture of both with her raspy voice it brings the song together. The vh1 biographical movie they put out yearsss ago shows the story which was pretty good cuz they was like the #1 selling girl group but was completely broke as well as what they were going thru in life.

I'm surprised no one gave Trey & Smoove the fun fact on the group name. Originally, TLC stood for Tionne (T-Boz,) Lisa (Left Eye,) & Crystal as another girl was in the group 1st. Idk why she couldn't be in the group anymore but that's when they added Razonda (Chilli) & because her name didn't start with a C, the iconic nicknames came to fruition.

T-Boz usually sings lead on a lot of songs. She has a lower raspy voice. Chilli has a real r&b voice and takes the harmonies and higher parts. Left Eye usually raps--I'm not sure if she sings any harmonies.

Waterfalls pretty much means hold your horses, don't move too quickly and make bad decisions. Mom couldn't save her son from living his dangerous lifestyle that could lead to his death or someone else's.
