OMG I JUST RANDOMLY CHECK PATREON AND HERE WE ARE

bby.bluesi

All of the albums have themes that all lead up to MMTBS with Kendrick accepting that he is not our savior. The theme of DAMN. for me is the 7 deadly sins along with frustration. The track titles kind of elude to that. But overall this album is a masterpiece.

Monique Holmes

The music on BLOOD sounds like a Tarantino score

Curly Fries

Straight up. If y'all do MMTBS, y'all will cry and that's perfectly fine

Grace

Analysis of all Kendrick’s albums when listening. Kendrick is extremely talented 😩 Section 80 - novel GKMC - a short movie by Kendrick TPAB - a poem Damn. - a magazine Mr Morale and the Big Steppers - a theatre play

bby.bluesi

ELEMENT. was about a lot of ppl 😂

jj 💜

yall still have section 80 and untitled unmastered too!

sam

How i look at it, if GKMC was the album about his life before the fame, TPAB being a mix about him stepping into the industry, the unfamiliarity but also his experience of being a black person in it, then DAMN would be considered him already being established in the industry but slowly experiencing the feeling losing himself and trying to get back to the person he was in a way. Like Trey said in the beginning you can listen to the album from track 1-14 or track 14-1 because both tell a different story. 1-14 starts with kendrick losing his life in BLOOD. and then we go down almost like a reflection of his life (from being braggadocios and having all this money and fame to being paranoid and questioning the people around him to then the "start" of his life/career from the perspective of top dawg and his dad). Now if you listen to it backwards track 14-1, you get the story of his come up to then his downfall and so the question asked "is it wickedness or is it weakness?" is up to you to decide after hearing this. At least thats how i've always interpreted it! also to add, from TPAB, DAMN and MMATBS you'll see a recurring theme/struggle between kendrick and his savior complex. you mentioned how in "FEEL" he said that the world wants him to pray for them but who is gonna pray for him and it reminded you of TPAB because that album just felt so uplifting. i feel like in this album we see it affecting him a lot where he's already going through his own problems but has that burden on his shoulders of feeling like he has to help/save everyone else at the same time.

bby.bluesi

Not to bring up the beef but to bring up the beef, this is why Drakes claims about Kendrick relationship being imperfect didn’t hit for me because he’s been saying he was a trash dude 🫠 in MMTBS he just happens to be more direct about it.

Tamara Pearson

If you're interested in reacting to Kendrick's Mr. Morale tour let me know.

Spunkbutter

PLEASE DO MR MORALE ITS MY FAVORITE KENDRICK ALBUM

Meka Tika

What's so significant about this album is because not only can you listen to it forwards but you can also listen to it backwards and get a whole different meaning to it... Make sure yall listen to it from the ending to the beginning on your own!! And I asked my self why is it titled DAMN and the end of it all i could say was Damn!!!

Ron

Y’all got the concept for the most part, but when you play the album from Duckworth to Blood, it tells the story that he lost his father and ends up dying. This one was hard ngl lol

April G.

Section 80 is something you guys cannot NOT react to. JS

Linda R Tellez

You two should go check out a YouTube channel called DIGGING THE GREATS, he does this album and breaks it down. Check it! 🌟

Karilyn Burgos

If you guys watch the Howard Stern interview he breaks down Duckworth. Also, the special edition vinyl starts from 14-1, i have both vinyls.

Da'Sia Wesley

This has nothing to do with Kdot…BUT… I think Ari Lennox is getting ready to drop something …soooo I think you guys should react to her albums before she drops 🥰 love yall

Tanesha S

The moments of revelation are HIGHlarious 😂

MAX

Y’all’s reaction to “FEAR.” And the end of “DUCKWORTH.” Is why I rock with y’all SO HEAVY! 😂🤣😂 — Mr. Morale is heavy, but a lot more straightforward. DAMN. Was him battling Wickedness/Weakness…Mr. Morale is him facing and coming to terms with his past and his savior complex. ✌🏾+💜

AB

Yall going through the Beyonce and now Kendrick journey is almost too much for me. Those two and JayZ are my faves! Damn is a DENSE album. You’re right, he doesn’t spoon feed it, but Trey you did a wonderful job putting things together on the first listen. Very impressive. On the first listen of this album I immediately got God all through this. Kendrick is very spiritual, and idk why but I was hit with heavy spiritual messages immediately. But even now listening to it with yall and hearing your commentary I’m picking more things up. That’s the beauty of true art—it’s layered and open to interpretation. This is the kind of music that will last forever. There are probably a million dissertations on this album. Can’t wait til y’all react to Mr. Morale! One thing about Kendrick is you get a sense of the man he is through his work.

Dmontae Sims

Lust is my fav off this album

Niye wade

WHOA!!! and that's all I got to say. Masterpiece

Anais

Y'all gotta get him a chair with a back for these long reactions.

Andrew

You guys have to react to SECTION 80. and at this rate yall might as well listen to Overly Dedicated and the Kendrick Lamar Ep which is one of my favorites when you add World Negatives and Today to the track list….‼️‼️‼️‼️

Andrew

Have yall listened to the Black Panther soundtrack if not it’s also a must‼️

Nina Ruffin

What’s funny is that the Element OG version of that track was a diss at several people. He changed it for the album. Y’all should check it out 🔥🔥🔥

Kinnon

Y’all gotta react to the og element leaked song

Tennille

I love that y’all are connecting all the dots now. It’s been right there all along for the past decade 💯😂

Kate

Kendrick - Cartoon & Cereal pleasseee ;)

esi

please react to frank ocean - channel ORANGE album 🧡

Elijah Mutukudzi

I know u guys say yall drake fans but i know yall Music fans first and thats makes yall reactions so reall yall know kdot is the chosen one! Yea drake cool n all but theres diffrent levels to this ish. Kdot is wise, poetic, and will blow ur mind. Drake on the otherhand he sounds dope but not really diffrent than the most of the rapper. He has good voice but ill always choose wise over melody

electricosmo

DAMN. Is definitely one of the harder albums to interpret, and I’m so excited watching you guys go through Kendrick’s catalogue. Some people have noted that yes, you can play the album both forward and backwards. This ties into the opposing themes of “wickedness” vs “weakness” that are laid out throughout the album - Kendrick battles his own feelings and faults with these opposing themes (e.g. ‘I always thought it was me vs. the world, but now I see it’s me vs. me’). This is why we see him presenting opposing views of himself throughout the album - lust and love, pride and humbleness, etc. Kendrick opens the album by asking the listener two questions: “Is it wickedness or weakness?” And “Will we live or die?” And the answer changes depending on how you play the album. When you play the tracks 1 to 14, ending in DUCKWORTH., Kendrick dies due to wickedness: the loss of his father and later dying in a gunfight. When you play the tracks 14 to 1, ending in BLOOD., Kendrick dies due to weakness, stopping to help a blind woman who shoots him. Interestingly enough he dies either way, which brings it back to the title - Kendrick feels damned whatever he does. Kendrick explores the feeling of being damned or cursed throughout the album. Thanks again for sick reactions! Sorry for the essay I have a lot of thoughts about music.

Aaliyah

You should definitely post a reaction to the video “ A Deep Dive into Damn “ on YouTube. It breaks down every song and explains the message and story behind the album . Great Reaction !

Dynisha

Yes someone commented this earlier and it made me check it myself and i got chills finding out more of what this album meant and confirms Trey's theory but better articulated. You guys should watch Digging the greats on youtube like someone mentioned before.

Missbarribaby

Don't forget untitled, unmastered!

BDR90

Idk how nobody brought it up, you need to check that CONTROL verse

SonyG

His storytelling comes from his true life experiences which makes him so special & compelling

Willybeast

Willybeast

ahmed

If you have the time I really recommend you react to a deep dive into DAMN. By TennisThom he breaks down the whole album.

Jamie Giblett

I just poured my heart into a comment and accidentally hit "back". Ugh. Insert amazing message here. I'm so glad y'all have rediscovered kendrick. Keep up the amazing work! Edit: y'all made me realize how much i actually love this album Edit2: i downloaded patreon just to watch y'all and it's the best money I've spent in a while. The joy i get from watching y'all is crazy, AND you are giving me a new level of appreciation for my favorite artist. Thank you!

Brittany

Love seeing you guys getting into Beyoncé and Kendrick. Yall should definitely take a journey thru The Weeknd’s discography. If anything do his 2 trilogies.

Alisha Lewis

YOU GUYS WERE SPOT ON!! KENDRICK WENT ON BIG BOY RADI, AND ONE OF THE INTERVIEWERS ASKED HIM THE MEANING OF BLOOD! YOU GUYS SHOULD WATCH IT AND REACT TO IT!

Tiffani Alanna
