May’s Patreon Exclusive: Painting the Little Lakeside Cottage

Hi there,

Well, sorry this one is a bit late, we were on a trip to NC and ran into a little problem, but first….This week we’re diving into fun textures using sponges and salt—and I’ve got a special real-time tutorial just for you!

I shared the finished photo over in our Facebook group, but only you get the step-by-step look at how I painted this bright, loose little cottage by the lake we stayed at. It’s full of cheerful colors, relaxed brushwork, and sponge textures in the trees. I also used a bit of salt in the water for some extra sparkle.

Fun fact (or not-so-fun): while we were there, I had a little mishap that landed me in urgent care. Ended up with a tetanus shot and antibiotics—so yep, this painting comes with stories! We are hoping my toe is okay, right now I’m off my feet for a bit, and hoping the infection doesn’t go into my bone. Fingers crossed!
