Behold! By the power of my having time off, the update is done already! It is a tiny bit shorter than I usually aim for, coming in at 14,300 words, but that actually had nothing to do with the speed of the update. It was merely where the natural end point of events occurred this time.

As for the speed of the update and time off comment...yeah, I happen to have two weeks more or less off from my other work and obligations. Which I'm using to see just how much it's possible for me to write if I'm doing it 'full time.' With a possibility, depending on results, that I might attempt to make that jump in the next month or two. Right now, its just an experiment, but it's one that is going to benefit readers as I am going to do straight into working on an update for A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure next. Meaning, unless something goes horribly wrong, that you're going to get a full release of that story in addition to this one, Displaced Hero, and Halfway Broken this month.

Anyway, for now, enjoy your release of Why Was There No Truck?!...

Chapter 24 A/N 1: A bit of an overview chapters, to show a little bit more of how 'Endbringers' work in this particular reality.

Chapter 25 A/N 1: Well, they've run into White Tiger now. The event actually IS something that happened to one version of Black Cat, I just modified it here for the differences in the realities, as well as it being Overwatch instead of Batman that saved the day. I thought it made for a decent showing of elements of the team in action. A/N 2: So, Dinah now always knows about Alyssa's 'extra bits.' Absolutely nothing is locked in on the romance/relationship side of this story yet. I'll actually be putting up a poll in a day or two regarding that. Even if I'm almost certain how that poll will end... A/N 3: I may have to revisit their Team D & D sessions :-p. The idea of Crystal Pelham enthusiastically playing a Barbarian character amuses me more than it probably should, and I'm not even sure why.

Chapter 26 A/N 1: THIS CHAPTER WAS HARD. Seriously, it took by far the longest of any of this update. I know I've said it before, but combat is one of my weakest points, and this chapter was basically one giant, complex fight scene. I hope I did okay with it...

Chapter 27 A/N 1: So, I feel the need to say that I've never had shwarma in my life. I only know what it is because I looked it up after the scene from Avenger's we're all probably familiar with. So it might actually be delicious. It just doesn't seem that way to me, and I wanted to play the scene for comedy value, so...that's what I did. ;-) A/N 2: A bit more about how Endbringers impact this amalgam reality, as well as some name drops of more villains and such that are active in this version of Gotham.

Chapter 28 A/N 1: Ah, poor Barbara is in a rough spot, huh. I honestly don't know 100% how this is going to play out, if she's going to outright join Overwatch or simply become an ally. As I've mentioned before, this story has a lot less cohesive outline than most of my work, as it was originally a throwaway experiment that ended up WAY more popular than I expected. A/N 2: I'm not sure why I made Ororo a relationship voyeur/shipper, but somehow it fits and I'm sticking to it! If for no other reason that to give us an occasional outside perspective on things, as well as to give her a reason to interact with the team in the future...

Really fun chapters to read here. And I am glad to see your authors notes because I was getting ready to defend Shawarma. Some of the best food on the planet that. Them dealing with Grundy was great. Now for the aftermath to happen. Really curious how they might end up dealing with it if multiple of the costumed crowd and some out of towners act simultaniously. Also might I suggest the possibility of pushing Bruce Wayne towards Politics? I imagine he could be quite popular and his mentality would fit in perfectly. Always felt like Bruce Wayne would have gotten more done as a Major or even a Senator or Govenor than he ever did as Batman. Since from there he could at least try and deal with the muck from up above. Then use his Batman skills to get his opposition arrested or dragged through the mud in the media with scandals.

And yeah if you do a poll on relationships in this story it will probably end up being some kind of polyamory or even a full on harem. Nico being interested in Talia is very interesting though. Could she also be into Alyssa or will that cause friction with Talia being more into Alyssa?

...I can't honestly see Bruce don't very well in politics. It's pretty consistently shown that he considers Batman who he really is, with Bruce just being an act, and that's not very conductive to the mindset switch he'd need to make. Mind you, I agree he could have done more good that way, Thomas Wayne was honestly probably on the right path to fix Gotham, not Bruce. I just can't see most versions of Bruce pulling that off. He'd inevitably don his Furry Persona the moment something went wrong.

Yeah, I'm going to put it up for voting, but I'm expecting a Poly/Harem result given how it's gone every other time I've asked :-p. I'm keeping the Nico/Talia thing open-ended for the moment. I actually had the same thought (or that interest in one might lead to interest in both at least, sort of like Padme and Sabe in Displaced Hero), but am leaving it undecided for now. Both until any discussion in the poll post, and also possibly reflecting some future polls about who should be involved with who. There are a LOT of options because of the Amalgam, not just the handful that are currently obvious possibilities. And as usual, I'll want to set a hard limit on numbers if it ends up as poly/harem, so that the relationship content doesn't overwhelm the rest of the story.

White Neko Knight

Kind of sad to see the cynical version of Batman in this universe. He's valid for sure, a few depictions protray him as even worse. We do enjoy the ones where he's part of the league and has like 7 members in his Bat family. But it makes sense for him to be so isolating in a world with So many powerd and no Superman as a best friend.

I like the idea of Barbara being an Ally instead of a member of Overwatch, but I wouldn't say no. The way things are going with Bruce, I wouldn't be surprised if she formed Birds of Prey as her own team with White Tiger and Hawkeye.

Man I need to reread this story. Every new chapter I’m like “wait, the precog Dinah?” Or like “who’s this magic chick?” The space in between posts will be my doom. (Not asking for more content quicker…just wanna clarify that I understand the chapter spacing…mental health and creative flow is more important) Great chapters! Batman just be maulding for real for real.

So, admittedly unrelated to the content of these new chapters, since the PRT exists, is Cauldron around in this universe? There are so many Case 53s that could use rescuing.

No. I decided early on that the Entities aren't active, having gotten bitch-slapped by one of the dozen or so ridiculously powerful entities in either the Marvel or DC universe (such as the Endless or the Phoenix Force) if they ever existed at all. In part, I did that because I was intentionally scaling overall world power down a notch. Still extremely high, but fewer reality-ending style threats. Without the entities, Cauldron never formed to deal with them. Nor are the Trimuvirate a thing, since they were created by Cauldron.

Almost all the modern depictions have cast him that way, I can't remember one that wasn't that way since the mid 90s? Part of it, though, is that I've shifted some ages around and a few of the other Robins or Batgirls aren't around YET. They actually aren't shifted that much, mind you. Barbara and Dick were the first two to join the Bat Family. Timelines don't match up entirely, but generally Jason Todd and Casandra Cain are the next to oldest (not necessarily order of joining, but ages) and are around 5 years younger than Dick and Barbara. I actually don't know the exact time frame each joined up with Batman, since I think they've changed in various timelines. Here, at least, they simply haven't yet. Some might not ever, their fates changed by the Amalgam, but others might yet appear.

Great chapters all-around! The fight was great given it was basically a stall fight. My one criticism about it is that Alyssa felt a bit underpowered, given how little her attacks did, but that can easily just be me underestimating how strong this juiced up Grundy was. The aftermath was also well done. Again my only complaint being I wanted to also see the Avengers reaction, along with the general public's. Even if we got the latter very briefly in passing when Alyssa mentioned the media. Barbra's indecision is interesting. I would personally suggest maybe not have her join Overwatch, but instead help found another team. I think you mentioned in an earlier chapter that the city can use one or more. Maybe in the form of the Birds of Pray, or even a team composed of some of the expanded bat-fam since they probably won't join Bruse in this world when there is another (potentially better) team to join.

I'm glad you enjoyed them :-). It's absolutely a case of Grundy being just that tough :-p. The starbolts Alyssa were using would easily have punched through an inch of steel, more for the max charged ones. But I'm aiming for 'Endbringers' in this amalgam to all be serious threats. Even the weaker ones, which this variant Grundy WASN'T, being a tier or two higher than his normal would have been. As for the reactions, I felt the X-men were more relevant since they'd been present, while the Avengers were away entirely and didn't respond. A couple of people have mention the Birds of Prey, which I admittedly hadn't considered. I'll have to mull it over a bit more.

…Bruce is just going to have to accept the truth of the matter. HIS. Way. Is. Not. WORKING. If Barbara can swing it and join Overwatch while keeping her relationship with Bruce, it might just FINALLY force him to put on his Big Boy Pants and swallow this particular bitter pill. I’m just, in all honesty, hoping that he’s pragmatic enough to pick having Overwatch as allie’s rather than potential friendly foes… We’ll just have to see. Thank you for this story because even with it being fairly early its still my favorite story of yours so far. I really love amalgam type universes done well and this one has so, so much potential and I cant wait to see where it goes. I also trust your content quality and update potential so that helps a lot.
