Hi all, introducing: [CGMZ] Player Movement!
This plugin gives you more movement options for the player. Below are some major features and how you might use them. Of course, you can also use them in any other way you can think of!
TURN IN PLACENormally, to change direction the player needs to move in that direction. However, this might not always be what the player wants. You could design a puzzle such that the player can only solve it by turning in place, such as needing to stand on a certain tile and shoot [CGMZ] Dungeon Tool arrows at different switches. This feature allows the player to turn in place without moving if an additional button is held.
REVERSE MOVEMENTThe player presses up, and moves up. The player presses down, and move down. This is expected, but what if the player was suffering from some kind of confusion on the map screen and you wanted to simulate their confusion? Reverse movement takes the player's inputs and reverses them, so up becomes down, down becomes up, and so on. You might also be able to use this for a map puzzle.
JUMPINGThe player comes up to a small pit with a treasure chest on the other side, by default they would need to give up. Not so with the ability to jump! By allowing your player to jump, they will be able to traverse more areas and it can also be used to split up the monotonous feeling of holding the forward button through dungeons. Here is a gif of jumping in action:
There are also region restrictions, so you can create invisible walls with regions that prevent the player from walking somewhere.
Since this plugin is still in Alpha, there are quite a lot of features that will be added in over time. These include:
Push Event
Pull Event
Carry Event
Stamina System for using movement abilities
Touch UI support

Happy RPG Making!
This update adds a new movement ability, the dash! This movement ability provides a short burst of movement speed to the player in exchange for not being able to change direction when used. Similar to other movement abilities like jump, you can configure a cooldown period after using the ability. This could be used to make a timed event where the player must cross something such as a bridge or door before time runs out and their default movement speed is not fast enough to reach the objective in time. Below is a short gif of how it can look:
This update also adds a new plugin command for enabling or disabling access to movement abilities mid-game. You can now make it so that the player does not begin the game knowing how to jump, turn in place, or dash and must learn these abilities through some event in your game. You could also use this functionality to disable movement abilities at certain key moments in the game where you do not want the player to be able to use them, for example if they are temporarily injured it may not be realistic that they can still dash or jump around.
This version aims to make this plugin easier to use while adding some minor features. The player's access to the various movement abilities is now controlled by a game switch set up in the plugin params. This should be easier to use and integrate with other plugins than the plugin command that was previously used. This also includes the reverse movement functionality, which is now controlled by switch.
This update also added the option to not use gamepad buttons for abilities. This can be useful if you are not planning to use a movement ability or do not want gamepad players to be able to press a button to use it.
This update also added the option to make reversed movement automatically fade after so many movements have been made.
This version is full of small changes that should make a big impact on using this plugin. A new movement ability was introduced which is the ability to freeze the player's movement. This prevents the player from acting, similar to when an autorun event is running but without needing to have an autorun event active.
A switch for region restriction has been added so you can now turn on/off region restrictions as needed in your game.
The reverse movement parameter was changed. Before, if you did not set it, movement would be permanently reversed similar to accessing all other movement abilities. This is no longer a requirement of movement abilities, and now not setting the switch parameter will have no effect on normal player movement.
A bug that could cause the player to use movement abilities during times when they should not have been able to move has been fixed. You used to also be able to use movement abilities like jumping or dashing while in a vehicle, this has also been fixed.
This version is focused on normal player movement instead of movement abilities. It adds the option to lock individual directions, for example if you only want the player to move up and down, you can lock the left and right direction. You could use this for puzzles or for some minigames. This does account for reversed direction, if your player cannot move left and they are in reverse movement and press right, they will not be able to move since they would have moved left.
This update also added instant movement. This emulates old school RPGs where the player sprite did not smoothly move from one tile to the next, they just instantly appeared on the tile in front of them. You can turn this on or off during gameplay just like all other movement abilities, so if you want to create a throwback room where this movement is used while the rest of your game uses modern movement, you can do that. See below gif for how it can look:
This update also fixed a bug that could occur when adding this plugin to a saved game from before the plugin was added.
