Roll the dice with [CGMZ] Dice. This plugin adds a dice rolling scene to your game, allowing for optional rerolls and other configuration.

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all, introducing: [CGMZ] Dice!

This plugin adds a dice rolling scene to your game, allowing your player to roll the dice. You can have an unlimited amount of dice set up via the plugin parameters, and then use a plugin command to call the dice roll scene with a specific dice to roll. You can also give the player an amount of rerolls of the dice. Below is a short gif of how it can look:

The dice can either be a sprite sheet animation or programmatically animated by randomly rotating and changing out a possible result image. The animation styles allow you flexibility in your animation if you want to create a flashy sprite sheet animation, or if you want to quickly get your dice scene up and running without needing to create extra graphics.

As a bonus, I have included some images for a standard 6 sided die that you can use to get started.

This plugin is in Alpha stage, which means there are still planned features to be added. Below is a list of planned features that will be in future updates:

1) Additional animation types / options2) Player allowed to select which modifiers they want to use3) Modifier storage to collect modifiers and use them in rolls later4) Roll multiple dice

Want additional features not already present/listed above? Make suggestions on the Patreon Post or in my discord under the #suggestions channel!

This version adds weighted dice. You can now make it more likely that your dice rolls certain numbers. Previously, all dice were fair dice that had an equal chance to roll each number. You could use this to create a rigged dice game, or give the player some benefit to a roll by using a weighted dice in their favor.

This also should fix a bug with using the wrong image in some cases, mostly when dice did not have a minimum result of 1.

This version adds some more scene options, such as the option to disable canceling out of the scene. This should allow you to use the dice scene in a cutscene to force the player roll some dice without worrying about the player canceling out of the scene.

Another option was added that will enable your player to skip the roll animation on OK input. This is a global option in the plugin parameters, not something that needs to be decided on a per-scene basis. When enabled, the player can press the OK button (keyboard or gamepad) or press the screen with Touch Input to skip dice rolling animations and go straight to the result. There is a very short wait to ensure players do not accidentally double click and skip the animation accidentally.

This update also added common window options for both the roll and the result windows that are standard among [CGMZ] plugins, including the option to change the windowskin, window type, window tone, window padding, and the window back opacity.

This version changes how the reroll amount in the dice roll scene works. Instead of providing a raw number in the plugin command, you now provide a variable id. If you do not provide a variable id, the reroll count will be 0. If you do provide a variable id, the reroll count will be equal to the value stored in that game variable. This should reduce the amount of eventing needed if you want the same scene just with different reroll counts depending on certain criteria, as you now just need to set the variable value instead of make separate plugin command calls.

A new optional window was added to the scene as well. If set up in the plugin command, this new info window will show some brief info to the player. You could use this to remind the player that they need to roll a 5 or greater to succeed, for example.

This update also added integrations with [CGMZ] Window Settings and [CGMZ] Window Backgrounds to each window in the plugin.

This version also fixes a bug with being able to select nothing in the result window, leading to being stuck in the dice scene.
