Add a steal skill to your game, allowing you to steal items from enemies.

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all, introducing: [CGMZ] Steal!

This plugin adds a steal skill to your game. Actors can use it to steal from enemies. Configure enemy steal info via plugin parameters, with different items or max times stealing is allowed per enemy giving you total control over how steal works in your game.

Steal Skill

Designate a skill as a steal skill. When used, this skill will provide let your actor try to take an item from an enemy. This item will then be added to the player's inventory, and shown again at the end of battle during  victory aftermath.

See gif below of the steal skill in action:

Enemy Config

Set up stealing on a per-enemy basis, including how many and which items can be stolen from the enemy, the total amount of times the enemy can be stolen from, and chances that the player will not steal anything. Make a common enemy that your player can easily steal potions from, or make a boss enemy have a rare but powerful stealable equipment.

Integrations

This plugin integrates well with the following plugins:

[CGMZ] Currency System - Adds unlimited custom currencies to your game, which [CGMZ] Steal will let you steal from enemies.

Roadmap

This plugin is currently in development and not feature complete. During this time, suggestions for ways to improve the plugin are more likely to make it into the plugin and are much easier for me to add as they do not need to go through a Patreon poll. You can leave any suggestions you have in the comments below or in my Discord in the #suggestions channel. I appreciate all suggestions I get.

Happy RPG Making!

This version adds some requested options. You can now wait after steal results including both a timed wait or an input wait. Note that you can only use one wait, you cannot have both a timed and input wait.

You can now opt to display normal skill results before anything that was stolen, which will allow you to have your steal skill also cause damage or any other normal skill effect.

You can now opt to award stolen items right away (previous behavior) or at the end of battle. If awarded at end of battle, players will not be able to use stolen items during the battle they are stolen.

This version adds multiple steal skills. This changed the steal skill parameter as it is now an array of skill objects. You can also change the Display Skill Effects parameter per-skill now since there are multiple steal skills possible now and a global mechanic for that would not work for the different steal skill types you could make.

This also adds a very basic requirement system to stolen items, as you can now make it so certain items can only be stolen by certain steal skill ids. This means you can make a basic steal skill that steals basic items, which the player can then learn a more advanced steal skill that can steal better items. I still have plans to expand this requirement system to add many more conditions you can add to stolen items.

This version adds an [CGMZ] Drop Tables integration so your steal skills can randomly generate a drop from one of your drop tables. If the drop table lands on a Nothing drop, it will not be added to the steal possibilities. This is due to the way stealing works, as there is already a steal chance before the stolen item is selected, so the Nothing drop from a drop table would add another round of success checking.

This is a plugin I've been wanting! I would like to be able to configure more skills, for example I want to make a thief who learns the Snatch skill, which would be an ability to attack at the same time as stealing. It would be nice to be able to configure more skills that allow you to steal.

It would also be interesting to have an ability that tells you what items an enemy has to steal. A kind of scan.

I could probably add that info to scan as an integration with this plugin, thanks for the suggestion 😁
