Allow your players to fight troops in a colosseum and advance to harder troops when they win to earn greater rewards.

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all, introducing [CGMZ] Colosseum!

CGMZ Colosseum is a plugin that serves mostly as a menu to allow the player to choose which troop they want to fight in a colosseum. Currently it allows you to discover, unlock, and determine which troops have been defeated as well as automatic rewards after the battle (in addition to anything the troop might drop). Each troop can also have a description which supports text codes.

Beta Update:The Beta for this plugin is finally here! With Beta, I focused on the after-battle options and added some things that people requested to allow them to event custom rewards or just handle what happens after the battle better:- You can now force the colosseum scene to exit back to the map after a battle ends- You can now full heal the party after each battle- You can now set a variable to a troop ID and battle result for eventing after battles- To use the above, you can now set a common event to be ran after each battle (common events only run on map scene so recommended to use this with the exit scene option)Hopefully this will remove a lot of restrictions that were previously there for after battles, as the player would have just been sent back to the Colosseum scene to choose another battle. In future beta updates and before the full release, I will look to expand on this even further, but I felt that this plugin had been in Alpha too long and wanted to put it to beta

This update adds some common features I am going through and adding to all of my plugins including showing the list window on the right, a parameter to set the width of the list window, and the option to use up the Touch UI space if Touch UI is disabled.

This update also fixed a bug that caused colosseum troops to be sorted by their troop ID rather than the order they appear in the colosseum parameters. To cut down on JSON errors, this plugin also uses the new way my plugins parse JSON to warn you of an improper parameter instead of crashing the game. If something is not working right, please view the dev tools console and see if it might be a JSON error with one of your parameters.

Finally, this update added a new setting for troops called "Repeatable" with default behavior being set to ON. When OFF, this setting will make it so any troop that has already been defeated through the Colosseum cannot be fought again.

This update adds the ability to automatically unlock additional troops after beating a troop within the Colosseum. Previously, you used to need to exit the scene and run a common event with the battle result/troop variables to do this, which was overly complicated and not really the desired flow by a lot of people. This should make it much easier to discover enemies as the player progresses through the colosseum. This update also fixes an issue with exiting the scene after battle for those who do want that to occur, as the scene windows should no longer briefly flash before the scene exits anymore.

Please be aware that this update requires [CGMZ] Core v1.15.0+!

This update adds the ability to drag and drop (or delete) each individual piece of display information shown in the colosseum display window. This includes things such as the rewards, description, troop sprites, and more. Along with this, some new header options were added for Description and Rewards. Here is an image of how the new headers look:

This update also added some window options for both the list and display window, including windowskin, window padding, and window back opacity. This update also fixed some bugs. Previously, this plugin would sometimes forget the type of fights that would show in the colosseum scene after a battle was won. This plugin should now always remember the types of fights to display. It also fixes a bug where reward text could still display even when there were no rewards.

This update adds the option to differ the rewards based on if it is the player's first time winning a fight or if it is their second+ time winning a fight. This should allow you to have really good rewards at first, but if they keep repeating the fight they get less for a reward. To reduce setup as much as possible, you can choose to always give rewards, reward them only the first time, or reward them only after the first time. These settings are a per-reward selectable option in each reward parameter.

This update adds a ton of integrations with other [CGMZ] plugins too. The first one is [CGMZ] Currency System, so you can now give custom currencies as rewards in the colosseum. The second is [CGMZ] Scene Backgrounds, so you can now show a custom scene background with a ton of options such as scrolling backgrounds and more. Finally, [CGMZ] Controls Window integration was added so you can easily set up a controls window to display in the scene with custom text for keyboard or gamepad controls which changes based on the player's last input type.

Smaller quality of life features were added as well with this update. Marker text for new fights the player has not yet attempted was added, so your player will now know which fights were recently unlocked in the colosseum. The colosseum windows also had tone options added to them so you can change the windowskin tone.

This version adds percent chances to rewards. You can now have rewards that are only given sometimes, mostly meant for the repeatable rewards instead of the first time rewards.

This update also added a required level to colosseum fights, which goes by the average party level. This will prevent the player from selecting the fight if they are not high enough level, but does not have any impact on discovery or unlock flags. You can also display this in the display window by using the new Required Level display line item.

Some misc improvements were also made. The display window now supports a custom amount of blank space. The display window should better react to font size changes in headers. A bug with display window scrolling being slightly off with custom padding values was fixed.

This update added integrations with [CGMZ] Window Backgrounds and [CGMZ] Window Settings. If you had previously set up transparent windows or custom window padding, tones, etc. you will need to use the [CGMZ] Window Settings integration for those features now.

This version adds some more display window options. You can now display custom headers and text lines in the display window. This can be used to show flavor info about the troop.

Also added was tracking for the amount of times the player has won, lost, and escaped from a fight. You can choose to display these in the display window for each fight as separate line items. Note that this will not work in saved games that were saved prior to this update. If you have a released game and need to patch save data to initialize these counts for your players you can run the following js in some way (such as through [CGMZ] Patch):for(const id in $cgmz._colosseumData) {const fight = $cgmz.getColosseumFight(id);fight._troopId = id;fight._wonCount = 0;fight._lossCount = 0;fight._escapeCount = 0;}

Troop battlebacks are now used in battle when set up through the plugin. For fights that do not have battlebacks set, they will still fall back to the current map battleback as usual.

An integration with [CGMZ] Toast Manager was added for both discovering new fights and unlocking new fights. These will only display if the fight was previously undiscovered or locked and a change of status actually occurred so you are safe to call these plugin commands multiple times without worrying about showing duplicate toasts.

This version adds a toast manager window that shows the rewards after a win in the colosseum. This should now provide your players with visual confirmation of what they earned from the fight. This toast window works a bit different than others. It still uses the preset system for things like window settings and the first text line, but it will ignore the height and second line and automatically adjust its height for the rewards shown. You can still fill out the first line with a line of text to display before the rewards are drawn.

This update also fixed a compatibility issue with VisuStella Victory Aftermath where their plugin was preventing the previous BGM/BGS from replaying after a colosseum battle. It should now correctly replay the last bgm/bgs from before battle start.

This version adds the option to have weapon or armor restrictions on your colosseum fights. This means that if any party member is wearing that gear item, the fight will be unavailable. It also comes with new text labels and display options to display this info to the player in the display window.

This update also makes it so if you are using [CGMZ] Common Events Everywhere, your after battle common event can run even if not set to exit the colosseum scene after battle.

This is exactly what I needed!

Hey, there, Casper! I just noticed something; when I trigger a fight using this plugin, the background becomes a snapshot of whatever map I'm on...but sometimes it loads a battle background. (always grassland.) Is there a way to control things so that I could specify a picture (or a battle BG of my choosing) to use as a BG? Instead of using the blurred map? Edit: I figured out a short-hand solution for this! Use whatever bg image I want as a parallax picture and put nothing else on the map. Looks amazing! ^A^b Also, I had a neat idea for this plugin that I got from another one similar to this; how about adding required party members as a condition to enter fights? :D
