Create your own boats, ships, airships, and land vehicles with custom settings. You can also have as many vehicles as you want.

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all, [CGMZ] Custom Vehicles is ready to enter into the Alpha state!

This plugin allows you to make custom vehicles for your game. You can use it for basic things such as having a second (or third) boat, but you can also customize your vehicles by giving them different properties. Some of your boats may play different music, and your airships may all fly at slightly different altitudes. There is also the possibility to make a land vehicle as a custom vehicle.

For land vehicles, you can customize their passage options by giving them Region or Tile IDs through which they can pass. By using this feature, you can make a land vehicle that can pass over mountain ranges, giving the player new access to closed off areas of the world map before they get access to an airship.

For a quick description and preview of the vehicle "types", please see below:

Boat - Similar to the default boat. You can create as many of these as you want, and have different speeds, image, audio, or passage settings for them.

Ship - Similar to the default ship. You can create as many of these as you want, and have different speeds, image, audio, or passage settings for them.

Airship - Similar to the default airship. You can create as many of these as you want, and have different speeds, image, audio, or altitudes for them.

Land - A vehicle that can only pass through land tiles. You can also make these pass through otherwise unpassable tiles using regions or tile ids. This can be used to allow the vehicle to pass through mountains or other tiles the player otherwise could not pass through, without allowing it to have complete freedom like the airship. You can have as many of these as you want, and have different speeds, image, audio, and passage for each.

Please keep in mind when setting your vehicles up that some options might not make sense when chosen together. For example, if you make a Ship vehicle without a Landing Offset, your player might not be able to land since the player cannot walk on water tiles.

Happy RPG Making!

This update adds the functionality of my other various vehicle plugins to your custom vehicles created with this plugin. The new features are below:

Vehicle Interiors - Your custom vehicles can now have their own interior, with a plugin command to change the interior map to simulate upgrading the interior. All functionality that [CGMZ] Vehicle Interiors provides for the default 3 vehicles, you should be able to replicate here for your custom vehicles. This does require the base [CGMZ] Vehicle Interiors plugin to work.

Vehicle Encounters - You can now have encounters with each custom vehicle, similar to the default 3 vehicles with [CGMZ] Vehicle Encounters. One difference here is that you need to assign an enable switch and turn that switch on before you will start getting encounters on your custom vehicles. This does not require the base [CGMZ] Vehicle Encounters plugin to work.

Vehicle Landing Restrictions - You can restrict where each vehicle can land by region id, where if the vehicle is in that region id it will not be able to land. This does not require the base [CGMZ] Vehicle Landing Restrictions plugin to work.

This update adds map linking. You can now have your vehicles able to change maps by the press of a button. This can be used to create the appearance that your player is going above the clouds or underwater, for example with a high flying airship or a submarine that can explore below water. Below is a gif of how it can look:

This update also added some minor options. Your vehicles can now ignore events, and there is a through setting for passage settings now.

This update adds some new plugin commands for custom vehicles that should mimic similar event commands for the default vehicles. These are:

Change Vehicle Location - change the custom vehicle's location

Change Vehicle Image - change the custom vehicle's image

Change Vehicle BGM - change the custom vehicle's bgm

This version converts a lot of plugin parameters and plugin command arguments to use the new RMMZ 1.9.0 map or location types, which allow you to select a map from the map list ui or even select the exact tile on the map similar to a transfer player event command, which should make this plugin much easier to use.

While going through the parameters, I also converted the directional ones to use a selectable list that gets converted to the correct directional number instead of making you type the number for the direction in manually. The Map Link Fade Type parameter got similar treatment.

This update also added the option to have no gamepad button for map link transfers. You can also now have a switch turn ON or OFF automatically as the player gets on or off a vehicle, for use in your eventing.

This version fixes and adds some functionality that was previously added to my other vehicle plugins such as [CGMZ] Vehicle Interiors. You can now add a switch to turn each custom vehicle's interior ON or OFF.

You can also choose to not use a custom vehicle battle background for each custom vehicle, and if you are using a custom vehicle battle background you can now optionally use an animated battle back via a new integration with [CGMZ] Animated Battle Backs. As a result, this plugin now needs to be placed below [CGMZ] Animated Battle Backs in the plugin manager.

This version adds the option to change vehicle altitude during gameplay. This might be useful if you have a submarine that you want to appear floating while on your underwater map, but flat on the water on your above water map. The altitude can automatically change when going to a linked map, or you can use the new Change Vehicle Altitude plugin command.

Note that you will need to go through your map links and set up the altitude parameter after updating.
