Very nice episode, Paul! I will certainly check out Van Helsing (2004). I have seen numerous clips and I like them all. I also hope you do a review of Brightburn (2019). I thought it was a great film, but I am wondering what you will think of it.

Elizabeth Allen

When you mention the way that 20 something in Civil War reminds you of a 15 year old that could have possibly been on purpose. I can't tell you how many 20 something Zoomies that I've worked with who seem like they're still children. I believe this possible trend you've noticed in movies has a connection to the infantilization of the youth that you've talked about before. These modern directors are speaking to a new audience and they recognize the infantilization just as much as you do. So when a young adult needs to be depicted they're infantilized then shown to overcome that infantilization in some way. It speaks to the struggles of the modern young adults who dream of growing or want an outlet to vicariously feel such growth through.

I love Van Helsing. It's one of those movies that made me realize I was bi. I was like... 8 when it came out and I really enjoyed it then.

Dumplin Man

I love the Dracula in Van Helsing. He's so cunty and I always thought he fit really well. Over the top dramatic acting.

The fact that you described faramir as weasley and sniveling shows just how much of an injustice his character suffered in those movies, as much as I love them. Book faramir was a total wise badass who could resist the ring, and was described as having an aura akin to gandalf.
