Midway Island is the start and end point of East and West, that's why it's called Midway (smartass answer). The Pacific ocean is larger than the Atlantic ocean, you have to think about it in terms of naval navigation. Is West Berlin west or east? Is East Germany west or east?

Oriental historically meant basically anyone who's not European or African. It included east Asians, middle easterners/north Africans, Indians, etc. associated with half-civilised superstitious peoples. Edward Said wrote a book about it called Orientalism. *It has a racial connotation and the way Oriental used to be thought about was similar to the way people used to think about Jews as a race. I.e. the oriental races or oriental despotism. We're fine with flattening Africa down to just Africa because we don't care about Africans. Brits actually do call Indians Asian.

There are such things as imaginary colours. Basically we have a limited range of colour perception which we have effectively mapped out. There's the basic shit like red plus blue equals purple, but that's a limited slice of our colour perception. If you go to the far edges of our colour perception you have to mix colours you can't see in order to make those colours. We know they exist and what their ranges are but we can't see them. If we mix them we get colours we can actually see.
