BulkierWriter 2

We need an episode on Michael Jackson he is too big of a personality and history to ignore and the end or part 2 can be a debate on did he do it?

Pangloss6413

Still waiting for the bill hicks episode

happilobstr

This goes all the way back to the dp days. Someone suggested they do a special episode and it never happened 😂

Flunkiebubs

I did lemontek shrooms once and they literally hit 10 minutes after drinking the emulsion, and the following 8 hours felt like a week

Flunkiebubs

I personally believe in free will, because humans are able to resist their id/instinct/drives. If we didn't have Libertarian free will, no person would be able to use willpower and resist unwanted urges, there couldn't be introspection either. Just my understanding, I feel like my "free will" might have a different definition than whatever other people are referring to 🤷🏻‍♂️

Manfredi & Johnson

“What we know, what we don’t know, etc etc etc” I didn’t know this episode would contain more than the sum of all possible knowledge… impressive!

Elizabeth Allen

It's an evolutionary overcompensation that makes life incompatible with It's environment and leads to an eventual self destruction. Im as certain as I can be on that, everything lines up to well to support the idea.

Elizabeth Allen

The real question isn't "do we have free will". Is "free will" truly beneficial to life? That's the greater question. If we define "free will" as our greater intelligence we may ask is this intelligence that allows us to exhibit this "free will" truly beneficial or does it merely create a form of life incapable of sustainability or equilibrium in any environment?

Flunkiebubs

I definitely have heard people claim before that free will doesn't exist, Paul has even said it.

Elizabeth Allen

We know what consciousness probably is we just don't want to know.

Phoebe Ophie

It's not exactly free will. It's limited choice. The distinction is small but important.

Elizabeth Allen

It's ultimately pointless to understand consciousness because understanding it will not give us anything or be "the key" to unlocking greater things. It just removes a necessary layer of ignorance that is required for the human mind to continue healthy operation. Our "discoveries" aren't great things they're just the desperate expressions of a pointless species that is to smart for it's own good.

Elizabeth Allen

Everything we do only means anything because we say it does. We stumble upon something that has been long before we existed and claim it to be a "discovery". We spin our wheels in the mud going nowhere and we think ourselves to be making progress. We are incapable of progress. What we perceive as progress is merely a temporary easing of friction. Every idea that anyone ever had was completely pointless because what could be and what should be isn't what will be. That's not how our minds ultimately work. We gather resources that's what we do everything else is just a bunch of comforting bullshit.

Elizabeth Allen

The very fact that we created society's incompatible with our needs proves we were fucked from the start. We created all of our own woes the moment we settled down and stopped moving and built farms. We were happier, healthier and free as a nomadic species. Farming was the beginning of many ills we never faced before and created population numbers that led to the rise of the hierarchies that now choke the life from our very home. We can't go back now it's much to late. The population numbers alone make a return to a nomadic existence impossible. Farming was the nail in the coffin. It allowed for more people to be born and it made life replaceable. One no longer needed equal care when another could take their place.

Elizabeth Allen

When it comes to understanding the human mind I've come to the conclusion it's pointless for me to try and understand a bunch of fuckin apes. It no longer intrigues me and it adds nothing to my existence right now.

Elizabeth Allen

You know what I want an episode about? How to escape fucking wage slavery.

Elizabeth Allen

Maybe I could be an events promoter. Put together a bunch of little themed events based on the local demographics interests.

Elizabeth Allen

Im serious I gotta get out of this fucking labor shit. I can't think of anything else other than how I'm going to get people's money.

Mondo_Bruh

There’s a fantastic documentary on his life featuring his mom in interviews for free on YouTube to tide you over until then.

Flunkiebubs

I see no difference, all choices are predicated on free will.

Elizabeth Allen

That or I want to start a minimum effort scheme.

Elizabeth Allen

Why the fuck would I trade wage slavery for actual slavery?

Elizabeth Allen

The invention of farming was the downfall of humanity. It's what made bigger populations that allowed for people to be replaceable so why the fuck would I want to be Amish? Your reasoning makes no sense.

Keifer

I wonder if they make brain shaped flashlights?

AlterEgoIII

Excellent, fantastic, spectacular

Elizabeth Allen

My favorite part of consciousness is when the mind can no longer fight against the reality of one's circumstances and it just goes completely numb. That's my state of bliss. When the mind literally has no energy left to care so acceptance becomes the default.

Elizabeth Allen

Oh the sweet serenity of surrender, her name is bliss. When the mind literally can't fight anymore and I am forced to accept my place as a servile wretch. Oh how sweet the surrender of a mind that no longer has the energy to protest. A slaves freedom.

Aaron

This was a good idea. The fundamental structure was good and I’m gonna give an example of why. Picking a topic that no one actually knows about, but there’s a lot of material about is great for people who may be are not experts in some sort of social field that’s interesting to listen listeners. I commented a bunch. I think TJ was debating Bosch something about crime in prison systems and I’ve worked for the department juvenile services for state of Maryland. I’ve also was a correctional officer for the state of Georgia my bachelors degree was in health assistance management, where I did a lot of public health I have been involved in community projects and I’ve even made policy for the entire US Navy. My recommendations were integrated into your naval fleet for inclusion and diversity. So what I’m saying is, I can tell when somebody doesn’t understand or quite know the fundamentals of what they’re talking about. They have some sort of opinion that on the surface is obvious but at some point when they start taking a stance, it’s clear that they have no experience in the field and they don’t know what they’re talking about. They just have some opinion of what they’ve heard or seen the most of and never really done any of it. This type of model where there is not a clear answer works in your benefit instead of doing debates where it’s clear that you have no real formal background or job to kind of back up these claims and they tend to get worse and worse. So this idea is good. Things that are not quite known.

Brad Bacha

Tried to use my conscience to understand this episode, didn't work

NakedSophistry

Don't open your eyes, take it from me. I have found you can find happiness in slavery.

NakedSophistry

Still waiting for the Hill Bicks episode, wait your turn.

Bound Demon

To bolster the 1st theory TJ mentioned, I don't think he was saying you can never look away from an object. He was just saying that if the light from something enters your eye, your brain will construct the image whether you consciously remember it or not. This also may have flown over my head too though.

gotsniff

Great episode. I love the coverage of ideas here and explanations. Thank you

Bigness

They addressed why there is no Bill Hicks or Carlin episode in the old DFF 'Lost episodes of DFF' or some title like that.
