Hola Tomatinos! It seems like almost every day we get new ideas and suggestions for episodes of Deep Fat Fried. Many times we’d love to make those suggestions into episodes but they just get lost in the shuffle of us working on so many things that make DFF possible. That’s why we’ve decided to take advantage of a new Patreon feature called Patreon Offers. 

This month anyone who joins our Patreon will be able to suggest and vote on a brand new episode of Deep Fat Fried. 

HEY!!! HEYY!!!!!! You might be thinking “What about patrons who’ve been with you guys from the start?” There is no need to fret, dear Tomatino! All existing patrons will also receive the ability to suggest and vote on new episodes. 

So what do you need to do? 

Just keep an eye out for a post asking for the episodes you want to see!

Some helpful tips and suggestions:

  • When you make your suggestion for an episode make sure someone hasn’t already beat you to it. 
  • Make your case for why we should DFF your suggestion. Not only to help persuade DFF, but also fellow patrons!

Japanese Modernization/Fall of the Samurai = DFF(this was in the 1860s to 1890s) This is absolutely a fascinating time when an ancient world meets the modern world. Of course it ends with Imperial Japan rising from island clans and tribes that warred with each other. Delve into the introduction of modern firearms in Japan, new military strategies, the conflicts between the Euro/American Cultures and the Japanese Culture, which sides and leaders supported who, and so on.

DFF = Physicists Specifically, Michael Faraday. He was the first to conceptualize the theory for electricity and magnetism. Unfortunately, his contribution to physics is not as well known as other historical figures in the sciences. Faraday grows up in poverty, becomes an apprentice as a bookbinder. Godzilla = DEEP FAT FRIED: Hear me out. I'm throwing this out there though I can imagine numerous copyright issues that might jeopardize this episode as Toho treats their nuclear powered reptile like goddamned Mickey Mouse. Regardless, I argue for the validity of this topic on the grounds that Godzilla is a cultural icon that has featured in over 30 films and other media for nearly 65 years. He's been a metaphor for everything from nuclear holocaust to environmentalism to genetic engineering and natural disaster. The films have ranged in tone from political allegory and Japanese sentiments about atomic weapons to campy/escapist entertainment. With such a rich and varied history, not to mention an anticipated new film coming out this summer, it might be time for the King of the Monsters to get DFF'd. Plus, selfishly, being the unabashed long time fan that I am of the series, I'd be interested in hearing the opinion of TJ, Paul, and TJ's brother on the matter of what the Japanese call "Kaiju Eiga" (Monster Movie).

My favourite parts of the show are usually about everyone's personal stories, like the good ol' story time with Paul sections on DP. I would just like an episode where you guys talk about the craziest shit that's happened to you, maybe a look back at TJ's/ Paul's old videos etc. You're all great storytellers (especially Paul) so it's guaranteed to be entertaining as well as insightful for newer fans.
