“From now on we’ll be doin the commentaries...in style” 😱😎

Tyler Rehkopf

I think the deep dive breakdowns are the way to go. Maybe have a poll in advance and let up pick from a list. That way we can watch the movie before you guys put out your vid

David

Can you do discussions/breakdowns and splice in scenes for reference from the films? Might that be much less risky than displaying an entire film? I would definitely prefer content geared to movies people actually watch.

Anonymous

Personally I will always love what y’all do. However I am bummed That the movie stuff is changing, if you guys can do the audio tracks I know a lot of fans would love that. But as long as the buffet pumping out good content I’ll be happy

Ben Ladd

I feel bad for TJ. He is an artist who must live freely and cannot be confined to any set-in-stone sleep schedule. Paul is utterly inept once again in his failure to recognize TJ's brilliance and free spirit, and the subsequent fact that any attempt to regiment TJ's life is futile.

Fred Funkledunk

No complaints about the upcoming schedule. If I could make a request, you guys should talk about a popular musician/band, genre, or list of songs and do quizzes, analyses, or games with music. Just a gripe because I’m a huge music nerd, and you guys seem to cover movies disproportionately.

Jack of Tears

It's really disappointing to hear that the old show isn't coming back. I understand the reasoning but I really enjoyed that series.

David

This would allow for full commentary too. All they'd have to do is in post add a time counter which starts at the beginning of each film and then all we have to do is sync that up. Granted, that means two different streams running on our end, but for many that is do-able. Probably most even.

Mark Lauer

Hmm this is tough. You could try an audio version to see how it works and if people like it. Either way you can now cover major films which could work better.

Jagger Petro

I'm fine with whatever format you guys decide to continue dissecting these films with, but lets get to the most important thing: Paul, your hair getting majestic.

Anthony Mickelson

Probably better received if you did more infamous and popular films but maybe do polls on what to discuss and eliminate them off the list and add a new one each time. I think its a toss up if you do audio only riffs or just breakdowns. Maybe do both. Deep dives on films you guys love and are passionate about and riff on shitty films.

Meryl Streep's Oscars

Adum from YourMovieSucksDOGorg does movie commentary an interesting way. He releases an audio video of him & his friends watching the video so you can play it along while you find your own source of the movie. Then they released an edited version including highlights at pivotal points to the film.

Ryan Industries

You guys should do reviews in the style TJ and Paul did when they watched Transformers and Amityville horror. I think that would be transformative enough and a round table discussion with you guys would be great inter spliced with scenes from the film.

philhalo66

i would love the audio only commentary. i mostly listened in the background anyway and this would be the best of both worlds.

justin Brown

I don’t hate this format because you talked about old movies no one wants to watch. I don’t need a synopsis and history lesson in long format from you. There are a thousand channels that do that better than you ever have/can. Paul’s channel did it well, as edited and scripted content. The stoners watch movie vibes is the only way this works. Some of the funniest content I’ve seen was you guys talking over shit films. (The three tits reaction comes to mind) Some of the dullest and most disappointing have been these reviews. These were, by far, my favorite part of the months content.

Clyde Frog
>>38458989

This is the solution right here. It does put some of the work into our hands, but come on. Don't tell me you other patrons don't use a VPN and download movies all the time anyways. And if you don't, then wtf are you doing? I hope the boys see this and discuss the YMS method as a possible alternative for now.

Smokingbobs

My god, Scotty. I rarely have watering eyes, but your Space Jam 2 pitch got me in tears.

Aron Clark

That space jam 2 pitch scotty did was amazing, It does however make me miss pitch wars.

shelbees

As someone who does not watch movies very much, I'm sad the old format is going away. Watching shitty movies with you guys and reacting alongside you is one of the best parts of this entire Patreon. Oh well.

danieljohnyerke

You need to clip Scotty's Space Jam Rant for the Plebs

Cafelattis1994

Yay! I have always wanted more movie content (commentary), nice guys!

Scotty B

Wow, content avalanche! Cheers lads 🤘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤘

Allie2892

This was one of the best pieces of content you guys have ever put out. Scotty’s pitch for Space Jam 2 had me in fucking tears. Please do more of this.

Alex Tomlin

I'm going to be that annoying Warcraft person but that character you were looking at was meant to be 'half' orc. There were some decent female orc character designs in that film! The designs were honestly the only things I felt they got right.

Rinpoo

If you must disband it I would 1000 percent request at least audio I can sync. This perk is my favorite of all the things you do and I find it really disheartening you are doing away with it. It was the perk that made me become a DP 10 dollar patron, and it is also one of the defining reasons I pay 10 now, because I want to support my favorite content to the best of my ability. I know it would be unreasonable to ask you to keep doing it if you feel unsafe, but please consider the audio so I still have this in some way. Thank you for maybe reading my stupid bullshit.

Hypnotic Visionaire

Hello, here are my suggestions. Comment if you agree or not. I would say the best option would be a mix of the two. Provide a full length commentary audio track of the movie, then a 20 minute video talking about your thoughts. This is more work, but I think it’s the best option moving forward. However, I will fully admit that this Movie Commentary Idea won’t be as good without seeing the Movie & reacting. Your entire platform is popular due to in the moment reaction, and taking that away from Cinema For Cynics takes away its charm. Here are some other ideas for In The Moment Reaction that will fall in line with Fair Use (and would be more engaging). -Pop Culture Fluff- Everything that sucks about Pop Culture comes from Magazines that obsess over the lives of celebrities. Aside from some Political Stuff, TJ’s best Videos were his reviews on the teenage girl magazines. Doing something like this in real time with the other pessimists would be hysterical. -Bootlicker Lookout- Think of Right Wing Watch, except with Three Stoners commentating over it. Basically it’s like Abandon Hope but with the entire crew (or an old show we used to know). The Difference could be you look over a single channel and find what they are trying to sell (like an episode on Styx, Candence Owens or One Angry Gamer). I know that this will bring Drama, something you three have been avoiding since the days of DP. But since TJ’s solo streams brings this Drama Anyways (and since these right wing voices are becoming more dangerous in my opinion) I think it would be worth considering. -Critiques From the Mob- We go over comments that criticize Deep Fat Fried in real time. This would be a great way to mock those who don’t get ya, have some introspection & get rid of The Social Averters (a group that makes this fan base worse in my opinion). You might get some backlash, but as a decenting voice in this community, I would rather have you mock us than ignore us. It would be fun to see what you all think about us, and I think most in this fan base would enjoy it (and the ones who don’t are useless Safe Space Agitators). -Random Clip Variety Show- You all watch random internet videos, 3 minutes or less, and go on a Journey of random chaos. This will have the feeling of something like Liquid TV, except with commentary. You’d have to make sure that these clips aren’t copyrighted, which makes it difficult. But I think this is the closest thing to recapturing Cinema VS. Cynics while being Unique. Plus it can have the feeling of Abandon Hope except any video is possible. That’s a few. Hopefully you all come up with something.

Darth-Myself

I jizzed my pants thrice during that space jam 2 pitch ! Scotty done an amazing improvisation. The subsequent group "discussion" about that pitch made me also jizz another hat-trick ! Great episode

WC

I fully support this move and am ecstatic that this’ll become more discussive. In my personal opinion the movie-watching stuff was by far your weakest content. I’d much rather hear you guys discuss movies than just react with a thousand variations on “this sucks”. Loved hearing you talk about The Fanatic and the crab monster movie, looking forward to more of this.

Magatama

REALLY REALLY REALLY dislike this format. Cynics vs Cinema was the biggest reason I subbed to your patreon, no exageration.

Chazz Darby AKA Martine Garbagio

'Not gonna lie, Cinema For Cynics was my primary reason for subscribing. Would love it if you could find some way to continue it somehow. Maybe consider setting up a Dropbox strictly for that content and sharing link when a new one is uploaded? I think this would mitigate the Copyright issues, I know other creators who do this for music reviews. I dunno, just a thought. Hope you guys can come up with something to fill the void left by C4C. Thanks for all the great content and laughs!!

John Mason

An audio commentary to play along with the movie is definitely the best option, the commentaries are one of the best perks of being a patron.

Atticus Omundson

Gonna throw my hat in with the Audio-Only Commentaries ring. Though I'd go even farther and suggest making it a video commentary, as sometimes your guys' facial reactions to what you're watching is even funnier than the commentary itself.

MrFings

Maybe you should do movie reviews focusing on a certain genre each month? Personally, I wasn't a fan of the movie double feature for the same reason "animals of the bible" didn't really fit. I can't put it into words, but they had a similar energy.

Clark

This honestly just makes me miss Cinema for cynics more. Would be great if you could bring back some of your best content.... like DDnDD and CFC....

MR_Toast

The problem I have with the reviews on random films is that the reaction to absurd shit going on isn't as effective as watching it live. I think , personally, I think the reviews can be fine towards stuff you have interest and care for but put more images in the videos (give us better visual references to what you're talking about). If you do reviews like that though, I don't know if there's any point in DFFing movies at that point. this is just my opinion of course. I just would like a little more visual reference to what you guys talk about.

Friedrich

I haven't read dune yet. I'll have to give it a shot eventually. The movie version was not great though. So hopefully if this new version is more accurate to the book, it will be better.

Nicholas Hamilton

How long do we have to make the Space Jam Riot Video? Could you also send a link or e-mail to where to send Space Jam Riot video? Would our video get played on a show?

Friedrich

After Bugs and LeBron take the drugs they disappear from the bar and the scene cuts to the arena with everyone waiting. The crowd hushes as a spark of light ignites center-court and two figures appear in the light. The camera pans on them from foot to head as the Space Jam music starts to play. As the camera pan to their bloodshot eyes the weapons are conjured. Let the carnage begin. Scotty, that movie concept is is amazing, it'd be great for it to actually be made someday.

Travis Boone

I really enjoyed this bantersode style ting about movies. This was very entertaining. I like analysis of movies but to me this is just more fun and more entertaining. I’ll still be a $10 patron either way tho lol.

Anonymous

I got tired of waiting for the movie commentaries so I just started doing my own on twitch which is pretty fun. that being said, I hope you guys figure out a way to continue the movie commentaries as normal after this COVID stuff, but if not we understand. Love this episode!

steven O

I liked the last one as I'm not a pleb when it comes to films.

Christopher Borra

Oh shit I was just asking about something like this!

justhello

well shit TeeJay sounds like you need to get yourself a Threadripper cpu boi thatl' blast your frames into liquid space

Curtis Smith

I don't really watch the film commentaries, mostly because I don't typically enjoy something interrupting my viewing of said film. Personally I'd watch more of a post-viewing discussion. There's also an added benefit of having more open audience interaction

JDTaylor

TJ, personally the Cynics vs Cinema is my favourite segment of yours. It's what made me start watching you guys in the first place. You guys do great segments, you are well researched, funny, present well, are very knowledgeable and are likable guys. But your best traits are that as a viewer when I watch you guys you make me feel comfortable like I’m hanging with my mates. It’s C vs C where you do this best, and I hope you can continue the show in some form. Maybe release video and audio of you guys watching the show and a link to where we can watch the same thing?

Curtis Smith
>>38452624

That sounds like a ton of work, there's entire channels that do that alone. I don't think they'll be very willing to add a whole new project into their very strained workload as is

TompkinG

I loved the most recent one you guys did with attack of the crab people. Very well put together show in my opinion

jack

i'd be more then happy with the audio-only commentary, it's not super hard to just hit play at the right time.

CORNMAN

How the fuck did you guys spend 10 minutes talking about the Tenet trailer without actually saying anything? We get it guys, action movie trailers go BWAAA now. Real biting critique from 2011.

Bill Portly

Space Jam 2 will go down in history as the best movie never made

Hypnotic Visionaire
>>38479808

Oh, here's an idea that you might all like. Instead of Replacing Cinema VS. Cynics, just cancel the idea outright and come up with a Bonus Episode for Patrons. If you want it to be special (like the Month's Prime Episode) you can make it a contest in which everybody votes on what topic needs to be covered. That way if none of you want to do anything out of the ordinary (or risk losing fans) this will do the trick.

Nuuk

Personally, I would probably not go through the effort of procuring, and then syncing a movie to your audio track, unless I really wanted to see the movie already. But I totally get that you can't risk getting DMCA'd or some shit, so you guys do what you feel is best. I'll keep paying $10 a month regardless.

Robin Passchier

If I had the Time and the resources available I would Make that "True Space Jam 2" Movie just for you guys to have so it would be the ultimate exclusive on you're Patreon Channel.

Euthanasia

Fk yall laughing about Space Jam 2 my sides are pissed. Haven't had to pause you guys since Brett Keane's shocking confession ™

SuperDarthKelly

Audio only commentary is fine, your movie commentaries are by far my favorite content available and the man reason I'm a patron

Matt Hunkee

Do you have your computer specs listed anywhere? I'd love to see if i can help recommend some god computer guts to match your workload. i dunno how much you know about computers, but if you would like some help, i'd be happy to do some research, if not recommend some things i already know to help. even after the pandemic for more longterm lasting of your rig

Nathan Best

Haha Paul is stoned as fuck.

Edvard Lundgren
>>38568346

Honestly, this is probably a really good suggestion. TJ appears to give zero shits about his rig, so it is safe to assume that it is not optimized for streaming content. Having a professional look it over and suggest upgrades could solve a lot of problems.

Edvard Lundgren

I actually liked both versions of "movie talk with the fat bunch". Not gonna lie though, I will miss the live commentaries if you stop doing them. But its not like its a deal breaker like some of these people are saying. The movie commentaries were an occational treat, not the main sustenance that the Buffet and Chef's Table provides.

Ash Farther

I really enjoyed the double feature commentary myself, I don't see what the deal was.

Josh Jerome
>>38539258

The Bwaa thing is important. Stealing the Reapers' sound effect is the real reason they're coming to annihilate Earth.

Vinessa E

You could maybe do it like joe bob briggs and film multiple segments with you guys maybe in costume or on a small set and then send us the footage and a list of time markers on the film for where they can go. For example if you are doing halloween we would see that at 11:00 minutes we can pause and watch that segment. Some people might be too lazy to do that but I think that could lead to some cool things and also people could just watch all the segments before or after the movie if they so chose.

Anonymous

i need space jam 2 in my life

Tyler

I won’t lie I’m sad the regular commentaries are going away, they were my favorite thing you guys did. I don’t even know how many times I’ve rewatched them, but I like your ideas for the future. I think a big reason people were hating on the last shit so much was because the normal commentaries are just so loved people just got upset, I don’t think the actual content was the issue.

Alan Parr

Scotty's Space Jam 2 pitch in itself justifies every penny I've spent being a patron.

simon

I actually really enjoyed the in-depth commentary episodes. They were very interesting, even the second one which I did go on to watch. But I understand the amount of work that goes into it may not be worth it for you guys. Whatever you guys decide I'm sure it will be great.

Maya Balsich
>>38472612

Giant egg on Paul's face again. Supposed 'expert' really shat his bed that time.

Madison Noneofurbeewax

Plz don’t stop watching the bad movies. That was really good and now I don’t look forward to this

BILLY DEVOE

The way Paul could see into my mind with the Green Pussy Dance... I think he's clairvoyant...

Restitutor Orbis

This seemed like a flash fried for movies and I kinda liked it. How sustainable that is idk, but it was pretty cool.

Capyboi7
>>38611841

Yeah. Swamp ape, Rhinestone, Enter the fat dragon, sorcerer and the princess and frogtown. Those videos are fucking awesome.

Carl

I'm really going to miss the full commentaries :( aren't there terrible/ancient movies you can watch without any worry of copyright nonsense? Like Swamp Ape and shit like that.

Canadian Satan

Wait... So no trip down Steelmanville Road?! How could you fuckers let Scotty win like this?!

Whiskabiscuit

What about uploading a downloadable file rather than through a streaming site, or does that still fall subject to the purview of copyright infringement?

Ryan L Houghton

It sucks that they've had to cut the commentaries, but of course I support that decision wholeheartedly. When you mentioned the audio commentaries I immediately thought that an IT audio commentary would be fucking hilarious! The last review Paul and TJ made of the film was excellent, as much as I dislike the film, I'd watch it again with the commentary.

Christopher Borra

Okay, a show you guys can do that might work! I'm personally having a hard time finding good shit to watch on Netflix. Can ya do a show about good things on Netflix to watch? At least things you think might be good. I started off with Stranger Things which was great and perhaps a mistake because everything else seems to suck. The Mist sucked. Lost in Space sucked. I tried this German show Dark and it sucked. I know breaking bad is good as I've seen that already and much like TJ, I think enjoys the first few seasons of The Walking Dead. I enjoyed it a bit longer but yeah the later seasons suck. Z Nation wasn't great but much better than The Mist and Lost in Space. Anywho, I can go on. I think suggesting good TV shows and perhaps some movies on Netflix would be a great topic. Help fuckers like me out that can't find good shit and don't want to watch crap like Fuller House.

Pleb22

I think that the synced commentary idea would be cool. Couldn't you still do commentary over B movies? Who's going to go come after you for those?

Josh Jerome
>>38949800

I like F Is For Family but I'm pretty easily satisfied lol. Black Mirror is kind of hit-or-miss but the good ones are worth it imo.

Zak

I think the audio only commentaries idea is certainly worth a try. The film commentaries have been some of my favorite content, and I'm certainly sad to hear that they won't be coming back. And I'd say that I couldn't get too into the last Film Discussion partly because my uncultured ass doesn't care too much for films that old, but also, I suppose, partly for the reasons that you discussed at the beginning of this video. Anyways, I think the audio Film Commentaries would be cool to at least try and see how it works out, but I think what you did with The Fanatic was more than fine. I'll definitely be looking forward to the Film Bantersode, though. I've enjoyed all the other Bantersodes, so if it's anything like that, I'm sure that'll be pretty enjoyable, too. Maybe you could do a Bantersode every few months, but release these normal Film Discussions (or audio Film Commentaries) as the usual monthly content?

Zak

So, after having watched this, I definitely stand by what I said. It was great (especially Space Jam 2!), but I think this should be, like, a special for every 3-5 months, or something to that effect. In short, this would be an awesome every once in awhile thing, but I wouldn't exactly want this to be the usual Cinema for Cynics content.

Justin Bulkley

We want live reaction and a short what did you think at the end.

Anonymous

Paul: Dune is the most discussed sci-fi series of all time. Also Paul: *is the only person I've ever heard bring up Dune*
