I've been having a lot of trouble coming up with ideas recently, so my method lately is "just put something down," so sorry if these seem pretty all over the place! I'm hoping the holidays will be like a hard reset for my mind hahah

I drew the Chiyo from memory, so she might be a little off! I'd like to do an Azumanga Daioh print one day, though. I also started watching Haruhi Suzumiya for the first time in over a decade, which is kind of surreal. It feels like some kind of time capsule.

The blue sketches are discarded thumbnails for an illustration for Grace Needs Space, the graphic novel I've been working on with Random House. They were just to get us thinking about what kind of composition we'd like to see, so they're pretty rough! (I'm excited to eventually show the one we ended up going with!)

The cats are Rumple and Ruby! Lately they've been getting along pretty well!

these are so fun!! I love the overlapping color blocks on the Haruhi Suzumiya one & the one of those comfy cats <3

Thank you!! I used to do a lot with overlapping colors/shapes and have sort of fallen out of it over the years, but I want to start trying it again, so I'm glad you like it! :')

Seeing Sakura made me think it would be great to see your take on a couple Clow Cards!

That's not a bad idea! There are a few that I really like... I might try sketching a few soon, thank you for the suggestion!

azumanga daioh is one of my favorite shows and it's never far from my mind. I'd love to see your take on it. haruhi on the other hand.. I also tried re-watching it maybe last year. Every episode is unique and it runs the gamut from love to hate for me. Oh, I forgot to re-watch the movie now that I think about it..

I'm definitely planning to draw something! I'm not sure when, but I'm hoping to come up with an idea sooner rather than later. And same here! Some of them still feel totally fresh and exciting, but there are others that I didn't even like when I was a teen. I'd actually never watched season 2, and endless eight is... sure something lol... I'm looking forward to the movie though!

Jeremy

endless eight is kind of fascinating because the suffering that you feel while watching it is a reflection of the suffering that Nagato feels in the story. and if I remember right, that suffering motivates the events of the movie. but you know, I don't normally watch anime for the purpose of feeling suffering, so it's debatable whether that's 'quality entertainment'.

That's how I feel about it! From an artistic standpoint I respect it - the idea of tuning into the second episode after a week and initially not realizing that it's the same events, slowly realizing it is, and then coming back week after week hoping that this time will be different is very cool. It's especially cool to consider that you're suffering through this alongside Yuki, who also can't do anything but watch, and feeling her relief when they finally do break away. But yeah, in terms of entertainment it's practically unwatchable, so that's really unfortunate!
