The pacing and structure of Takopi is, imo, masterful. Getting just enough context in the first episode; predominantly the "little guy" aspect of Takopi itself makes the second episode hit like a damn freight tanker. We are Takopi: just little guys; flies on the wall of some truly insane shit. It's a writer understanding that what makes good horror is contrast: you have to see the resplendent so it can be taken away or degraded. After all, that's also the most true-to-life and relatable form of horror as well. It also has the "Twin Peaks/Silent Hill" uncannily disquieting feel too.

I in no way blame Geoff for this, but his Discord community can at times be one of the most toxic and elitist anime groups I've seen out side of Twitter. Not everyone there is like this of couse, but I've had to leave his discord multiple time over the last few years from bullying and in 1 specific case, an official Mod joining the people bullying, because I liked an anime they didn't.
