The show omits the crucial fact that WSW is color blind!! In the novel, he's insecure about it and tries to hide it. During the snake rescue, there are multiple pythons, WSW can’t tell which snake to avoid when they warn him about the yellow python, (which was extra aggressive after being starved during its kidnapping). His hesitation makes total sense—and explains his slow reaction. Ignoring his color blindness makes his failure to avoid the snake feel a little ridiculous; he's quick and not afraid of snakes. Including his color blindness would have improved the scene. It's a small detail, but it’s always bothered me.
