Compared to The Untamed and Heaven Official's Blessing that are in the Xianxia genre (cultivation world, high fantasy elements), Word of Honor is a relatively classic Wuxia (martial heroes world) which means there are only low fantasy elements, no actual supernatural or mythological creatures or strong magical powers. So the ghosts of Ghost Valley are not actual ghosts or demons, they are living humans that are called "ghosts" for more symbolic reasons that will be explained a bit later. Speaking of the ghosts, I do think the actors are overacting the evil laughs and faces a little bit lol but they're fun, they're camp

Word of Honor is adapted from a novel called Faraway Wanderers which in turn is kind of a sequel to another novel called Lord Seventh, where Jing Beiyuan is the main character. Prince Jin's comment about Yunxing and Beiyuan, two of his closest people alongside ZZS, leaving him is a reference to that novel, but their backstory is not relevant to this drama.

ahhh i love cdramas as well, so i was well versed in historical drama stuff lol. it is a steep learning code if it's one of your first historical cdrama so totally understandable :-)

Yeah I’ve seen several but this show is just SO MUCH exposition I was like l, I can’t focus on it anymore and would just tune out those scenes. They were boring anyway
