Episode 9 Progress - 06/21/19 (Patreon)

Hey all - this week's update is very brief, as I have been focusing solely on camera work. I'm currently in the middle of the 15100's. In thinking I was going to knock it all out by the end of the week, I completely glossed over the "Smash" sequence, which has very complex, precise camera movements involved. Essentially, I've been re-doing every single shot in the episode and using the original cameras as a guide. In doing so, I'm getting a way more cinematic feel and to my surprise it's given a lot more life to the characters, but wow is it time consuming.
The "Smash" sequence reads exactly how I want it now. Even the shots I thought were fine originally have been improved vastly by this method. A lot of these changes are positively impacting the feel of the shots in ways I never expected. But also, some stuff is breaking along the way that I have to fix every time I make too big a change, and some of the animations needed to be altered to suit the slightly changed camera angles. Not to mention I have to render everything out over and over to make sure things are working. But it's worth it, I promise. I am very, very happy with the results of this week and it's proven to me how much I take the camera for granted in composing these shots. Thank you all for your patience.
